Sorry - mean I don't want to do cereal because I want to use Hex A on cheese rather than milk!

OrianaBanana · 06/04/2016 10:30

Cereal bars? Canned soup?

EmilyK83 · 06/04/2016 11:12

Alpen Light bars are great for HexB! Or you could have cereal but with yoghurt instead of milk?

BasinHaircut · 06/04/2016 11:32

Morning all. I'm just sitting in the waiting room after finally getting my steroid injection for planter fashitis or whatever it is called. Hoping in a few weeks I'll be able to do a bit of running if it works.

Yesterday was pretty good, but I felt ill at lunch time so I think that helped me stay on plan! Ha ha!

Today I've had weetabix for breakfast and will syn the milk. having a pastrami roll for lunch, will use syns for butter and a bag of sun bites, then dinner is macaroni in calzone's cauliflower and cheese sauce with salad. Snacks will be speed fruit.

I know that's not enough speed but the fridge is bare! Going to try to pop to the shops before I get DS from Nursery today and stock up.

katenka · 06/04/2016 11:32

So after my maintain on Monday I have been on it 100% since then.

Got doctors later. Can't wait to see what they say about the weight have lost so looking forward to that.

I have slimming world bars a my HEB or bread.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 06/04/2016 12:01

em - I was hoping I would LOSE because this is the first week after a period. Ugh.

I just do not know where I'm going wrong. I have HExA, HExB, speed and syns every day. The plan is not much different from how I ate before so maybe I need something more drastic. Maybe I should allow myself zero syns. I am going to go back to 2 speed days a week (although that made no difference before - that was during No Loss January Angry), although they feel a lot like a diet - I liked SW because it doesn't feel like a diet! Seems like I need to take drastic measures if I want to lose weight though.

But well done to all you losers. Losing as much in a bloody week as much as I've lost in 5 months Angry Grin

(NB as of today I'm 14st 8 so it's not like I'm losing slowly because I'm tiny already)

BendydickCuminsnatch · 06/04/2016 12:10

Also I've been hearing a lot lately that it gets harder to keep weight off as you get older. I'm only 26 so I'm clearly doomed.

tabulahrasa · 06/04/2016 12:16

Bendydick...what does your consultant say?

Just because I don't think it can be repeated too often, not because I think you're not...but...

You're definitely weighing, measuring and counting all the things you're supposed to? And your third speed is replacing free food not on top of it?

EmilyK83 · 06/04/2016 12:28

Wouldn't advise zero syns, Bendy - supposed to be minimum 5 a day...

Are you drinking enough water? And eating enough?

Scribble - you could also try baked apples with mincemeat as your HexB - recipe is on the SW website...

BendydickCuminsnatch · 06/04/2016 12:47

I'm drinking a lot and eating lots as well.

I don't have a consultant as I am an online member.

I'm not sure what you mean speed food replacing free food? They're all free aren't they so you can eat as much of them all as you want?

Thanks for advice.

tabulahrasa · 06/04/2016 13:07

"I'm not sure what you mean speed food replacing free food? They're all free aren't they so you can eat as much of them all as you want?"

Yes...

But, ideally you want a third of your portion to be speed foods, so for example if you're having Bolognese and salad, you put your third of a plate of salad on first then the rest is your free foods.

So you're effectively replacing a third of your portion of free foods with speed foods.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 06/04/2016 13:10

Aha I see. Hmm I don't do that religiously but I probably do eat that way without thinking about it. I'll normally have lots of speedy veg and some fruit with each meal. I'll start doing that for sure.

So I'm currently having a SW fry up (mushrooms, bacon, beans, eggs) with salad. So does that count?

EmilyK83 · 06/04/2016 13:13

Sounds good! If you're a snacker too, I'd say try reaching for speed foods before free foods as well.

We also had one woman in our group who wasn't losing - turns out she was eating a crazy amount of fruit - she switched some of it to veg and job done...

tabulahrasa · 06/04/2016 13:15

Well I'm vaguely perturbed by a fry up with salad, but only because in my head it doesn't go, rofl.

But yes, you want it to be a proper third even if the other part of your plate has speed foods in it and you snack on speed foods too.

It's basically portion control without having to work at it.

What tends to happen if you just eat free foods but don't do a third speed often enough is that, yes you lose, but only in tiny wee bits at a time.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 06/04/2016 13:17

I'm definitely a snacker. Ok fab! Thanks for your help Flowers I am gutted I can't make the groups (baby bath time/in bed) I think the support and insight would be well worth it.

Going to have a very mindful week and see what the result is next WI.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 06/04/2016 13:20

tab I know!!! Grin I just had it in the fridge and couldn't think how else to make sure I had a 3rd speed Grin

I'm eating them as 2 courses if that makes it any less weird.

Buttwing · 06/04/2016 13:24

I do a third of my plate with mushrooms and tomatoes for a fry up, tabulahs right you cannot put salad on a fry up just wrong!!

Welcome woodenmouse Smile I think your post got a bit lost!!

Weigh in for me today I've been good but I'm due on, so I'm hoping that doesn't bugger things up!

EmilyK83 · 06/04/2016 13:35

Good luck Butt!

Woodenmouse · 06/04/2016 13:37

Thank you buttwing
Reading everyone else's posts has inspired me!!

Buttwing · 06/04/2016 13:37

Thanks Emily!

What does everyone who weighs in the evening regarding food? Do you eat before you go?
I have a decent meal at lunch and some fruit about four but that's it. I weigh at 7 and usually take a snack for after weigh in or eat half a box of hifis!

maygirl · 06/04/2016 13:51

Saw this recent reminder about speed foods, mobile.slimmingworld.co.uk/features/view-feature/Speedy-reminder

How it's important to use them to reduce portion sizes, not squeeze them in around usual portion size or eating them as extras just because we're 'supposed to'! I'm going to focus on this and look at serving smaller portions of free foods, I'm a shortie so really need less food I suppose!

tabulahrasa · 06/04/2016 14:19

"How it's important to use them to reduce portion sizes, not squeeze them in around usual portion size or eating them as extras just because we're 'supposed to'!"

Exactly...you're actually better off not having any at all than having it as well just because you're supposed to and not because you want it or are hungry.

I think things like that are where online members don't get a good deal tbh as I don't think it's clear enough sometimes how things work on the website.

tabulahrasa · 06/04/2016 14:20

Oh and Buttwing - I don't eat, because the night I joined I didn't have time to, so now I never can, rofl, I think realistically I could and then it'd be fine after that, but I can't bring myself to.

Glitter2707 · 06/04/2016 14:41

Hi ladies,
Can I join here too? I joined slimming world 6 weeks ago and am 12.5lb down so far (woohoo!) it's my eldest's 2nd birthday on Sunday though & we are doing party on sat so this weekend is definitely going to involve cake, sausage rolls and party rings Cake I am trying to be v good in meantime to limit the damage. I'd really like that 1.5lb next week for my stone award but might have to settle for week after.
Buttwing (some great usernames here. Looking at you bendy!!) I weigh in at 9.30/10am depending on which group I visit & I always eat my bowl of cereal first at 8.30 ish

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 06/04/2016 14:42

Urgh - went to work today (teacher, Easter hols, tidying classroom and marking ). I took a cereal bar and some salad, but not enough because by the time I came out and went round Tesco I was ravenous - and then DS2 had McDonalds because he had been good when I dragged him into work with me. I didn't have any of it. But had some Popchips instead from Tesco.

I've now had my HEB and 4.5 syns and it is only half 2. I normally rely on Syns to get me from. 4pm to teatime. Will have to eat an apple very, very slowly....
