I hope it goes well Basin. My 11yo DD is coming along with me in the hopes that she will be able to get a handle on her secret eating issues, which started when she was bullied at school a couple of years ago.

First week she was brilliant, but the old habits have been creeping back this week, although not as badly as before. It worries me sick and I really don't want to be the food police so I really sympathise Flowers.

Not convinced by the idea of cheesy quark, and can't get my head around the syns in proper cheese sauce, so am doing naked veg Grin and instant gravy instead. DH & DD will probably prefer that anyway tbh and it's less faff.

EmilyK83 · 04/03/2016 19:39

Today's been a bit rubbish, really.

B - an apple and a pear

L - Bisto frozen cauliflower cheese (1.5). Was going to have some speed with it, but couldnt be bothered.

D - a sandwich (HexB), with pastrami, tomato purée, gherkins and a cheese triangle (1.5) in the car on the way back to see my parents for the weekend. Also got some fruit to have when we stop for a coffee (which will be my HexA).

And then probably a flump as a treat tonight (2).

So not a disastrous day, but it just doesn't feel like I've done it properly, you know? Not sure what's wrong with me today...

AvaLeStrange · 04/03/2016 19:59

What's the frozen cauli cheese like Em?

I love it but since homemade is too heavy on syns and my peeps aren't fussed about it I've not had it for ages. Sounds like frozen might be the way to go.

EmilyK83 · 04/03/2016 20:04

To be honest, it wasn't that great...better than nothing, but sauce tasted more like stock with a bit of cheese mixed through it! But I have two more in the freezer now (they were on special offer) so will need to eat them!

Just wanted to give them a go after reading how low syn they were! :)

BasinHaircut · 04/03/2016 20:19

Thanks Ava, it must be awful dealing with that with your DD. at least with DH I can take the position of 'well it's your life, your decision' if he doesn't want to do it properly.

I think he does want to do it but he is relying on me feeding him and doesn't really under and the diet. If he did he might realise he doesn't have to scoff chocolate in secret, he can have it as long as he counts the syns!

I'm going to take him shopping with me tomorrow to choose some treats that he feels he 'needs' and then work them into his food plan. And try and get him to be honest with me about any 'cheats'.

AvaLeStrange · 04/03/2016 20:48

If chocolate is his thing, how about getting some funsize selection packs?

Maltesers are my default treat atm, or a couple of Jaffa cakes. Also tried the quark/highlights combo yesterday which was like chocolate cheesecake!

BasinHaircut · 04/03/2016 21:25

He said he ate it all in one day (3 duo bars) as he bought them from a petrol station when he had a long drive. And didn't say anything because he felt really silly.

He likes the idea of getting some treats in that he knows he can have a set amount of each day if he needs them.

EmilyK83 · 04/03/2016 23:24

Making up syn bags is the way forward - it's what I do! 5 syn and 10 syn options...so mine have things like:

Flumps - 2
Mikado - 0.5 each
Asda mini meringues - 1.5 for 2
Cadburys animals biscuits (small bags) - 5
Treat size Fudge bars - 3
Heroes - 2.5 each
Hartley's sugar free jelly pots - 0.5

Syn bags plus using Alpen Lights/Hifi bars as a healthy extra makes it feel like you have LOADS of goodies to play with!

Oh, and Mini Milk ice creams for 1.5 each. Winner!

Sounbelievablydull · 04/03/2016 23:40

What is the quRk highlights combo?

calzone · 05/03/2016 07:06

Dull.....mix options hot chocolate into quark for a chocolate mousse dessert.

B.....3 linda sausages, 3 bacon, mushrooms, beans
Snack.....fruit and yoghurt
L....lasagne and salad
D.....went to Zizzi and had salad, no avocado 😇😇😇

I have a yorkie for my Syns a few times a week. Feels like quilt a lot of chocolate for diet. How many Syns does he get basin ? Is he going to group or just doing it with you?

I am sure I have heard men get more Syns.

BasinHaircut · 05/03/2016 07:57

katenka We are just doing it ourselves so no group but I also heard that men get 20syns. most days our meals are pretty syn free (or could be if need be) so he could actually have a full sized choc bar every day and stay within syns. This is what I said to him, he doesn't need to eat secretly, he needs to tell me if he wants chocolate and we can make sure he has the syns for it.

emily I'm doing him a treat box. Going to get a variety of bits that are around 5-6 syns each and say he can have 2 per day if he needs them. Hopefully if he knows they are there and has one each day, he might be able to exercise a little more control.

I know he really wants to lose the weight. He has lost a stone since new year so he has done well, but the next stone might be a bit harder, especially if he is eating secretin known amounts of chocolate etc.

On the plus side, I'm 3.5lbs lighter than yesterday morning so that must be the water retention gone! So I'm still 1.5lbs up from where I was before my blow out so fingers crossed there is still a bit more to go. If I've gained a pound true weight I can live with that.

BirdingWidow · 05/03/2016 08:09

Hi all,

I gained 0.5lb last week but lost 2 this week. Considering I had a slightly loose day each weekend but otherwise stuck to the plan I think that is pretty fair overall!

I went out last night but made pretty good choices - one wine, one g&t and then grilled lamb kebab with rice. I did steal a few bites of the mixed starter though, with a piece of bread, so that was probably a lot of syns!

I am doing a giant bake-a-thon today for a charity bake sale tomorrow. MUST NOT luck the bowl /eat trimmings /test anything. I love baking and this is where things go off plan! At least with most of the big cakes I can't be tempted as have to deliver them whole...

OrianaBanana · 05/03/2016 10:17

Tricky day yesterday which resulted in several slices of cake, feeling sick, eating no lunch and having a plain salmon fillet with cauli rice and carrots to compensate. Then eating a penguin bar and pops Hmm

Today is better so far I've had my HExB for breakfast but we've lunch out with friends (no idea where) so I need to keep iron discipline to save this week, inspired by your healthy choices.

Tomorrow we're at the in laws' too.. Confused

cowboylover · 05/03/2016 16:41

Sorry catching back up with everyone after not being online for a few days.

I maintained this week but after loosing 5lb in the last 2 weeks I was nearly expecting a gain so I am not too disappointed.

My husband is cooking for me tonight for the first time in the 12 years we have been together so I don't care if it's on plan or not to be honest!

Tomorrow for Mothers Day I am cooking for both grand parents here so controlling the Syns as much as possible. But treating myself to Cheesecake.

I got the new Free Food Cookbook for buying my 12 week count down so I am looking forward to trying a few new things next week.

Total loss for 2016 for me is 10lbs after all the gains around my birthday and other events.

BirdingWidow · 05/03/2016 18:01

I did lick the bowl Blush

ChessieFL · 05/03/2016 18:01

0.5 off today, better than nothing! Just eaten a massive portion of fish pie, it was delicious but feel a bit ill now. Oh well, at least it will stop me snacking this evening!

Katenka · 05/03/2016 19:08

Quite happy with myself tonight.

Just been to a kids party and didn't pick at the food! Whoop.

Just got in and had 3 heck sausages with a spicy tomato sauce and courgettes.

Hey all not had time to catch up yet. My baby was taken into hospital on Thursday morning very unwell with a dreadful rash. Frightening is an understatement. Fortunately it turned out to be a post viral rash and we were discharged this evening. However 3 days of eating from vending machines will have taken its toll on my weightloss, this week. I'm so pleased to be home and actually looking forward to taking control of my eating again.

calzone · 05/03/2016 20:51

Oh Butt......how scary! Hope you're all ok. Xx
