luna quark is fine to cook with, I use it instead of yoghurt if a recipe (curry etc) calls for it.

Not keen on it as a good on its own though.

calzone · 01/03/2016 22:17

I have lost 42lbs so the total is 102.5lbs!

I love Quark.

It is so versatile and suitable for sweet or savoury dishes.

I boiled some cauliflower and mashed quark into it tonight. Delicious.

I need to try some more quark recipes. Our consultant keeps talking about mixing it with a sachet of low fat hot choc powder to make as pudding but its quite sharp so I'm unconvinced so far.

Managed -1.5lb at weigh in tonight, which I'm really pleased with given the weekend just gone & the time of the month. Meant I got my half stone award too which was nice.

Well done to all the other losers & congrats buttwing on grannyhood & secondary school allocations. Our DD also got our first (very popukar, out of catchment) choice - it's such a relief isn't it?

tabulahrasa · 01/03/2016 22:59

Quark's great, creamier than yoghurt in savoury things and much nicer for sweet stuff as well.

By itself it's evil, just soury nastiness, but with other flavours it's lovely.

deli1976 · 01/03/2016 23:23

I have lost 14lb new total loss 116.5lb

AvaLeStrange · 01/03/2016 23:29

maygirl · 01/03/2016 23:39

I've lost 6.5 pounds in 2016, New total loss123 pounds

AvaLeStrange · 01/03/2016 23:47

may that's incredible too, and really encouraging from my POV as I have a similar amount to lose.

Can I ask something about the SP days? Talked about it at group this evening - it's basically anything you want with an S or P next to it, plus 1 HexA and 2 x HexB and 5-15 syns a day, is that right?

But according to our consultant no Free Food without and S or P, including yoghurt, but you can't even have a Mullerlight as a syn.

It just makes no sense to me that you can't have a fat free yoghurt, but you could, in theory, go out and have a Mars Bar Confused?!

AvaLeStrange · 01/03/2016 23:50

I've just realised the total loss figures are as a group! What a numpty! Blush

I've done 7.5lb so far, making group total 130.5lb

deli1976 · 02/03/2016 00:10

Avalol

maygirl · 02/03/2016 00:35

Grin Ava! No I've only lost 1 stone in total personally :) Your SP question, at 10-15 per day the amount of syns is measured and limited, so probably about 2-300 calories, like 1 mars bar. but if you ate any free foods, or foods like synned yogurts, which have a free food allowance you could end up eating loads more calories if you ate them freely . I don't worry too much if I forget and have 1 yogurt though. Book also says if you do SP regularly you can have 1 small fat free yogurt per day.
Yes to foods with S or P, at least half the portion should be Speed at every meal, and most snacks should be Speed too . 1 A and 2 B choices .

AvaLeStrange · 02/03/2016 00:41

Cheers.

Maths was never my strong point Grin!

maygirl · 02/03/2016 00:44

Lots of people definitely achieve that level of weight loss with SW though , there's been some great total losses on here too.

ChessieFL · 02/03/2016 05:49

Agree with quark, you need to do something with it not just eat it alone. Ava if you mix it with a hot choc sachet you also need to add sweetener. I often have sweetened quark with fruit for breakfast or I add a couple of mini meringues to make a sort of Eton mess. I also use it in SW quiche.

AvaLeStrange · 02/03/2016 07:26

I did get some mini meringues & was going to try adding sweetener and vanilla

Also wondered about sweetener & grated lime rind & dipping ginger nuts (syns!) in it, like an instant key lime pie.

I'm guessing it would work well as an alternative to sour cream too.

calzone · 02/03/2016 07:27

I add sweetener and lemon essence to quark and mix with a lemon hifi bar and top with squirty cream......

OP posts:
AvaLeStrange · 02/03/2016 07:33

That sounds yummy Calzone.

BasinHaircut · 02/03/2016 08:35

I'm yet to try anything sweet with quark but I also use it to make syn free coleslaw, just add a pinch of mustard powder too. A firm favourite in our house.

Need to try not to cave in to a takeaway tonight, like I do every time DH is out and it's just dinner for one.

DS is being a nightmare at bedtime at the moment and if if takes me too long to get him down, I can see me logging on to just eat Shock

WeShouldOpenABar · 02/03/2016 09:07

I've done 10 pounds so far so new group total 140.5

lunatrick · 02/03/2016 09:36

I'll try quark with something else then. I managed to ignore the chocolate and crisps in the vending machine as I sat in the common room for an hour! Not usually in there that early, but husband has hospital appointment so dropped me off on his way. Made myself a tub of salad and weighed out 25g of cheese as a synthetic for it, then realised it really isn't a lot for 5 sync so didn't bother and bought some salmon flakes instead.

stumblymonkey · 02/03/2016 09:59

I only lost 1lb last night so that will teach me for thinking I could get away with one cheat meal!

So 5.5lbs in two weeks....hoping for my half stone next week.

Had a PT session this morning. Now going to have a tooth taken out at the dentist Sad

How much do teeth weigh? Grin

EmilyK83 · 02/03/2016 11:44

Well done everyone - and thanks all! I've lost 20lb so far in 2016 (which is apparently the weight of a car tyre!!)

Yesterday I was good during the day but had a 3 course meal out in the evening, with a welcome drink. It was somewhere I was reviewing and we had no choice when it came to food, but I avoided wine with the meal, stuck to water, and didn't eat everything.

We stayed overnight too, so a full cooked breakfast this morning. Time to try and pull it back!

Today:

B - full English - definitely NOT SW-friendly

L - will be tomatoes, radishes, chicken slices, pickles and some fruit

D - probably a chicken and potato curry with rice and veg

Alpen Lights for my HexB, skinny latte later for my HexA.... No more Syns today after that breakfast!
