Hi all, I started last week. I'm slowly getting the hang of it and had been doing well until today, when we went to a function with a buffet lunch - soup, sandwiches, sausage rolls, mini pizzas. Nothing on plan at all. I did eat a lot less than I would usually have done, but so many syns consumed. Had a lovely steak with SW chips and lots of veg for dinner, and am forgoing the glass of red I really want to make up for lunch. excited and nervous about first weigh in this week!

Buttwing · 22/11/2015 20:18

Hi to all the new peopleSmile

I went out for dinner for my birthday last night which was amazing I dodged the bread but had mussels (not too bad) and a huge shellfish and lobster platter thing which amazing but cooked in garlic butter. But I drank far too much I'm not a big drinker and my god I've felt like death today. We had a big blow out Lebanese take out with the kids. That's it now though back on plan and hopefully might be able to pull it back a bit.

JOEYDOESNTSHAREFOOD · 22/11/2015 20:18

Hi all.

I'm joining a meeting on Tuesday night. I did join online this time last year but couldn't get to grips with it. I need the meeting to keep me on track I think. I'm a big fat cheater

A friend of mine was crowned Miss Slinky last week, which has spurred me on.

I'm looking to lose at least three stone. I'm the largest I've ever been due to a combination of injury and no motivation.

I'm excited to start but can't remember any of the info, so wil have to wait until Tues night!!

Tootssweet · 22/11/2015 22:38

Can I join too please? Am halfway through my second week & still trying to get my head round things. I lost 6.5lbs in the first 6 days (had an early weigh in as was working when my original group was on.)
I am trying to get my syns up at the moment as I am trying to avoid the obvious & change my way of eating - never had so much fruit in my life but feeling more energetic. Any syns suggestions that aren't chocolate as I can't stop after a couple!
Hoping I lose some more this week but will have to wait. My friend has lost 11lbs in 3 weeks which is what inspired me.

trashcanjunkie · 23/11/2015 01:20

Thank you so much, what a lovely welcome. So I'm starting tomorrow, and will be winging it quite a lot, but referring to my downloads for all of the allowed foods.

Breakfast is going to be fat free onken yoghurt with fresh blueberries, raspberries and bananas. I've decided to swap milk in my tea for unsweetened almond. Am I right in thinking a lot is allowed as a HEX? (Am not planning to drink a litre)

I'm wondering if I need to stick to a particular amount of yoghurt (I'll check) or just blob it in.

Really looking forwards to all of the fruit. Such a treat after virtually none for so long.

I tend to eat three meals a day, but is it okay to snack on more fruit if I'm hungry between meals? Or should I hit the veg then?

For lunch I'm thinking rice cakes with cottage cheese (felt odd buying the fat free version but I'm really going to have to get over myself) plus some salad veg on top.

And for dinner I'm slow cooking some skinless chicken breasts with garlic and vegetables.

Will aim to drink plenty of water and the odd peppermint tea.

Good luck for tomorrow (today) everyone!

Pisghetti · 23/11/2015 01:31

A litre of unsweetened almond milk is a HeA - that's loads!! Never really looked at non dairy milks. The brand name escapes me but there is a coconut one I really like - will have to look it up.

With the onken yogurt it depends on which type. If you're using the natural fat fee variety then that's free but the flavoured ones are synned so would need to be measured and counted.

Fruit is fine between meals but try to choose speed fruits over others for best results. Veg is good - there are recipes for free dips online which go great with chopped veggie sticks.

Enjolrass · 23/11/2015 07:15

A litre?? Wow!!

I have the Koko coconut milk if I want cereal. So I need to check that out and see if it's free or synned.

If it's Syns I will swap to unsweetened almond milk. That so much more than I would have in a day Grin

Heyheyheygoodbye · 23/11/2015 08:51

Although I splurged last night I have properly counted the syns and don't think I went over 60. Have had 8 or under the rest of the week so think I should be ok.

The amazing thing is how I feel this morning. Usually after a big family do I'd be hanging and sluggish and craving junk but I don't at all, because I only had two glasses and tried to fill up on veg. Feels good to have stayed in control but still enjoyed it all Smile

imwithspud · 23/11/2015 09:47

Today's the day for me, going to attempt it from home. Just waiting on my big SW friendly shop. Weetabix mini's for breakfast as my heb (no milk, prefer them dryBlush) and an apple, home made soup for lunch and burger in a bowl with SW chips for dinner. Got some low syn snacks, if I get hungry in between meals plus there's fruit I can try too.

I have a rotten cold at the moment so I hope I can stick with it. I also go to lunch with my dnan twice a week at a supermarket cafe, I usually have a super healthy Coke and a small bowl of chips, I can swap the Coke for diet or water but food wise I never really fancy much else if I'm good syns wise on those days it won't matter too much will it?

Annarose2014 · 23/11/2015 10:00

I'm still hanging in there on my first week, still trying to figure it all out as I go. I'm eating a lot less and a lot more consciously.

I like that I can have proper dinners but still struggle late at night when I've used up all my Syns but get suddenly ravenous. Have been eating ham, but its not satisfying so I have to find something I like. I'm going to ask the Leader about it. (Though last week she seemed to be a serious yoghurt-pusher Hmm )

Had wine twice though so am not expecting miracles on Tuesday.

Buttwing · 23/11/2015 11:36

Spud a standard portion of chip shop chips are 17 syns so you should be fine.

Hmm breakfast was Starbucks fruit toast and a skinny latte. Not the start to the day I planned. I always struggle to get back on plan after I've drunk too much alcohol!!

imwithspud · 23/11/2015 12:23

Brilliant thanks buttwing. I'll just be sure to make sure I keep sins low on those days.

So far so good. Shopping came, 35g of Weetabix mini's (hexb) and an apple for breakfast. Currently got home made spiced carrot and lentil soup on the hob for lunch, never had lentils before so I hope it's nice!

Annarose2014 · 23/11/2015 13:16

Weetqbix & skimmed milk for breakfast

Omlette with ham and light chees triangle for lunch (1.5, really wish the blue cheese ones were still around as they're the same value!)

Prob pasta pesto with bacon and lots of veg for dinner. Am really flying through the veg though, its hard to keep it in. I've realised I have to do another shop again for tonight. Think I'll go to Aldi.

Annarose2014 · 23/11/2015 13:19

Oooh Branston pickle is 1 for a level tablespoon. Thats not bad at all!

blondiep14 · 23/11/2015 13:51

Dreading tomorrow after lots of booze Friday and not brilliant choices with food Friday/Saturday after post birthday celebrations Sad

Yesterday good wise I was on plan but had some wine again Wine

Today have been very virtuous but don't think I can pull it back in time for tomorrow.

When I went to SW before my weigh in day was a Thursday, that seemed much better Grin

Lictionary · 23/11/2015 13:51

Hi again - I meal.planned well this week but seem determined to sabotage

Pisghetti · 23/11/2015 15:03

Anna laughing cow still do blue cheese triangles - I have some in the fridge!

Today has been a write off so far. Mini muffin and chocolate for breakfast, SW friendly roast dinner leftovers followed by more chocolate. Oh dear.....

Hi more new people! Cool Heyhey!
SP day
B eggs, bacon, melon
L lentil soup, ryvita and blue cheese triangles(seems to be a theme today!) HeA and HeB
D will be leftover veg curry with chick peas bunged in, pak choi, grated carrot and red cabbage salad
HeB2 turned out to be the unplanned eating of half a sandwich made for dds friend I look after after school, but she wasn't in . The bread was fresh out of bread maker, resisted eating some when making the sandwiches but couldn't resist it a second time when it was going to waste. Butter 2 syns fruit spread 1syn. Milk in coffees 3 syns . Also dreading weigh in, sure will maintain again . Got 2 meals out this week, so need save some syns

ZylaB · 23/11/2015 17:58

Hi all, half a pound on this week, my first ever gain but wasn't on plan during the week (used my birthday as an excuse for kfc, pizza, meal out with cake and wine!).

Am being super good this week, need 1 lb off to get my 2 and a half stone award, which is 3stone total as I lost half before I joined SW.

B... Banana
L... Chicken and sweet corn soup, pear
Snack... 2 hifi light bars (Heb)
D... Steak, cauliflower couscous, brococoli, green beans, gravy (2 syns)
Snack later... Milk (heA) and curly wurly (6 syns)

imwithspud · 23/11/2015 17:58

B - weetabix mini's (heb) and an apple
L - spiced carrot and lentil soup (which was delicious). Followed by a Hartleys no added sugar jelly pot 0.5syns
D - Pork and Quinoa meatballs, topped with cheese (hea) and served with tagliatelle, didn't have any lettuce in to do burger in a bowl so will do it another day. Wasn't keen on the meatballs today though, seemed a bit dry. Then again pork isn't a favourite of mine, dp enjoyed it though and has some to take to work for lunch tomorrow. He is also doing SW but isn't taking it as seriously as I am. He had all his syns for lunch today and is now having a cupcake with dd1Hmm

Plan on having a caramel freddo later on (4.5syns), dd1 made cupcakes at the weekend so I'm tempted with one of those too (I'm guessing around 5syns?) but I'll try to be good and hold off.

Not a bad start if I do say so myself, hope I can keep it up!

Heyheyheygoodbye · 23/11/2015 18:52

B - banana, tea milk 0.5 syns
L - babybels hexa, apple, grapes
D - loads of crudités with hm dips, chicken breast, yog.

Trying to do some damage control before weigh-in tomorrow!
