Wow, well done claira! 5lb is brilliant Grin

I'm on my way to Glasgow for business, so i'm worried about what the next couple of days is going to mean in terms of food. I have decided that I will pretend i'm on medication so reckon I can get away with not drinking, but food will sort of depend on what i'm given. I have been SUPER good all week in preparation for this, so i'm really hoping that any bad food wont cause too much damage.

BabsUnited · 28/01/2015 10:57

That is excellent, well done claira! Did you do anything special or different last week? Any tips?

I very nearly pigged out big time last night. I think I'd had too few syns or carbs over the last couple of days as I was feeling really strange yesterday afternoon, light headed, hot, weak, all that. So when I got home I scoffed the Freddo in the fridge, and then ate 8 ritz crackers. I'd also had a pack of popchips earlier so I did go over syns yesterday. 18.5 syns if I've calculated right. But not the end of the world is it. The way I was feeling it could have been a lot worse.

So instead of polishing off the box of crackers along with the delicious block of Wensleydale that's in the fridge I soldiered on, had a big glass of water and then made a big plate of peas, spinach and three LM sausages (the free ones). So clawed it back, but only just. Then went to bed early to take my mind off it all Blush

I've not brought any lunch in today as I got up too late to sort it, so after inspiration - what's everyone else having for lunch today?

MisForMumNotMaid · 28/01/2015 11:00

Fruitloops you could just say you're doing dry January.

5lb is a fab loss Clara. 1 stone award, you just be starting to really feel the loss now. Have you done your measurements? It really helps for those weeks you've been good but it doesn't show as well as you'd hoped on the scales.

Its funny how a good loss makes you want to be even better. I'd think the psychology would be 'I've had a good loss, I can have a treat now'. But I know with myself thats not generally how it goes.

Any loss I have this week is going to be a bit dubious. Had a bit of a bug and its playing havoc with my stomach. I generally find that my weight drops and then my body over compensates afterwards with illness.

Worryingwombat · 28/01/2015 17:57

Well done Clara!! 5lb is amazing!!

I need 5lb to get my 3 stone award!! Not feeling it this week but like I have lost more than a pound as I did last week so I am happy the food and exercise I am doing is working!

Feel like I could have done better if I was not still on a star week Hmm it has set me back both seizure wise and feeling heavy! And having the seizures has stopped me completing all the exercise I wanted to get in this week!

I still have enough to say I have competed my second week of silver body magic Smile

B weetabix
L speed soup
T frittata and salad

How's everyone else doing Grin

BabsUnited · 29/01/2015 09:38

Is that all you have on an average day Wombat? I don't think I could cope on that little food. My lunches are massive and I have to have snacks either side.

I am going to try the success express today (not sure what the new version of it is called?). Are the rules just 1xhea, 2xheb, then only S and P foods, and syns. So basically no potatoes/pasta? Have I got that right? Not got book to hand to check

MisForMumNotMaid · 29/01/2015 13:29

That sounds right babs. Its called EESP (extra easy speed and protein in long hand).

I eat more than i visualise what Wombat has written down there. But i haven't lost at anywhere near the amazing achievement rate that Wombat has made. I did my average loss calc pre xmas and it was 1.6lb/ week which has included various parties and holidays.

I'm a carb junkie. I love a big bowl of actifry chips with grated cheese on top. Plus a big handful of cherry tomatoes and an apple so i've had a bit of speed.

I start the day with a cooked breakfast. For lunch often its a jacket potato, pasta or slightly smaller portion of dinner out the freezer. I tend to snack on fruit and the odd bag of crisps. I have mullers i'd guess about four a week and daily a hifi light bar with milky decaf coffee in bed.

We are all different and need to work out what works for us as individuals. I've had dedicated very commited periods and phases where i'm happy with any loss but life is just a little busier so syns and general food intake are a bit higher.

Today I got my 4st and slimmer of the week, shared. 5lb loss. I've been a bit unwell so i'm hoping it doesn't go back up next week.

Less than a stone now to 25BMI. Thats something I haven't been in over twenty years.

my 22.3 stone mission! :)
BabsUnited · 29/01/2015 14:22

Wow, well done on the 5lb loss Mis! Congrats on your lovely certificates too. I've never once got slimmer of the week. One day.

Good point re wombat losing lots and eating smallish meals, there's a lesson in there somewhere I'm sure.....!! Wink

Still seem to be going ok on EESP (thanks M!) - so far today I've had:

b: 2x wm toast with marmite and butter (2 syns)
snack: banana
l: pack of steamed veg (brocolli, baby corn, carrots,) and some smoked salmon. Then an apple and 0% yoghurt (not sure if I have to syn this, if I do it's 0.5)

I have an itsu noodle pot if I get hungry later but I might try and leave it and have another banana instead. Have some green tea to drink as well as water.

I had some pizza last night (late night meeting, and DH cooked when I got home and I was starving and just couldn't refuse it) so trying to make amends for it today. I also would quite like a curry this weekend so need to make sure I've earned it!

Worryingwombat · 29/01/2015 14:54

Hi guys!!

No that's not all I eat Grin no idea why the post cut out my healthy extras and syn list!! Lol I could not live on that little food!!!Grin

My average day is
B weetabix and milk
L speed soup or salad
T chilli, curry frittata cottage pie burgers!

I normally have 2 alpen bars as my 2ns healthy extra (if on sp) or syn the 2 as 5.5 syns

I then have a yoghurt or 2 or some frozen treats

Then will have a low syn bag or crisps or perhaps a Freddo bar depending on what we have in!!

Thursday night after weigh in is always treat night! Last week we had Chinese Grin tonight I am planning pizza as I have been on the sp for the past 4 days so what a carb full treat!!

Does everyone else have a full on treat night!?Grin

Also went to the gym today and they finally developed me a full hour program for weight loss including cardio and weights! So looking forward to starting that tomorrow! Me and hubby are planning on 3 3 times a week we will also be doing roller skating with the kids on Friday and sat nights and I will be doing a dance fitness class and one morning swimming and Aquafit class!!

Big plans!! GrinGrin Excited!!

MisForMumNotMaid · 29/01/2015 19:40

Makes up for your disappointment last week. Glad you're fully back on form.

I'm a bit in awe at the 1 hr weightloss programme in your gym.

I know i should go, but just can't see myself as a gym bunny.

What do you wear to excercise?

Worryingwombat · 29/01/2015 22:34

Hi mis I was well chuffed with the loss as I am on star week still Hmm!

I just wear a pair of leggings and a baggy t shirt! Grin

BabsUnited · 29/01/2015 22:37

Well done wombat!

ChippingInLatteLover · 29/01/2015 23:30

Blimey Wombat. I am in awe...

*LOADS of exercise. Squash then the gym?? And everything else

*GREAT losses

*all that while eating crisps & freddo's?!

Envy

How old are you? (Please say 28 so I don't feel so bad!)

Worryingwombat · 30/01/2015 06:59

Thanks chipping!! I am 33 Grin

I now weigh as of yesterday 19stone 4lb

And I am the largest lady at the gym

And have no shame in shaking my ass at gym classes!! GrinGrin

I guess my new planned workouts are not as intense as someone who weighs less could do! And I do take things easy as I have never been to the gym before!!

It's me and my hubby who play squash! Smile I know he goes very easy on me but I like it and I still work up a sweat running around!!

Just trying to do things without injuring or passing out lol!!

My seizure have been back this week Hmm we believe it is tied in to my period arriving!

They gym staff are very supportive and my main aim is to get my 3 stone award next week!! Then I would love to lose another 3 stone by the end of May

It is as this time I will be having a meeting with my work about my sabbatical and I hope to discuss returning to work Grin much earlier than we had planned!!! And a hell of a lot better too!!

My dr's and community team both medical and mental health support are so pleased with the change in me Grin

ChippingInLatteLover · 30/01/2015 07:13
  1. Ah, you see, I'm a decade older than you. 10 years more wear and tear Grin. I was overweight, but not this overweight, and still very fit. Sigh. Make the most if this early part of the decade to future proof!

Yes, I read about your seizure, but forgot to mention it as I was gawping like a goldfish. Sorry. It sounds scary. If you can tie it into your period, there might be more they can do to help you?

Yes, I read that it was DH you were playing squash with, but even if he does take it easy with you, it's still a very physical 40 minutes then the gym as well, it's very impressive!

I bet the kids are loving this flurry of activity, especially the roller skating!

Do you really need the money? Could you not just enjoy the rest of your Sabatical and focus on getting well/fit?

I bet they are all amazed and impressed!! I bloody well am :). Flowers

Please though, remember weight loss isn't linear, and sometimes there's a lot going on inside and the scales just stop moving for a bit, then you come out the other side and they start again. I'm scared that when you hit a plateau, and you will, that it'll hit you like a ton if bricks and drag you down. Be prepared for the nasty bastard ok! X

fruitloopsandfruitshoots · 30/01/2015 11:29

I stayed the same, not bad considering I had a couple of bad days in Glasgow, but am totally doing a week of hardcore SP to claw it back!

MisForMumNotMaid · 30/01/2015 18:11

I think the odd blow out actually speeds things along in the medium term.

I did my online weight on the slimming world app. With my new less ambitious target weight, my blue progress line hits the target. I wish i'd set more interim targets on the way so this had been happening all along.

Worryingwombat · 30/01/2015 19:50

I promise I will take note chipping! I remember your wise words early in the thread about hitting the wall!

I thought a lot about what you said back then last week as I seemed to have the attitude of ONLY 1lb!! I was been stupid Hmm quite embarrassed about it!

I guess things have been going so well that I am now waiting to hit the wall now and I hope I am ready for it!

I am not all focused on the weight now! Getting moving has made me focus a bit on been fit not just a healthy weight! I also what to do all I can to limit the saggy skin I know I am going to have so I think every bit of body magic helps!

But upset as today I did my first time at the gym doing my program but the guy who set it up has put the weights too high!! I was doing a leg press 3 sets and the last set was a 90kg!!!!!!! I did one!! And hurt my knee so called the gym instructor who was in today and said I could not do it! He was like no bloody wonder!! You should only be pushing at the most 30kg!!!!

Well not ever doing weights before I had no idea of what was right so that one press at 90 has really hurt my kneeHmm no happy and cross with myself that I was stupid enough to try it!!! Smile

Well this week wasn't as bad as I thought. 1.5lb off.

Next week WILL be better. Only got to survive my d's birthday on tues were off to thi Friday. Have no idea what is ok to eat there. If anyone has ideas they would be most welcome.

Worryingwombat · 30/01/2015 22:03

Hi choc! Found this info online about tgi Fridays hope it helps Grin

Can TGI Friday’s also mean ‘Thank goodness’ it’s Food Optimising too? We’ve taken a look at TGI Friday’s bulging menu to dig out the very healthiest options for Food Optimisers, along with hints and tips to spot sneaky hidden Syns that can easily be avoided when you know how!

STARTER SENSE?
Sadly, there’s a distinct lack of healthy options on the starter menu and if you’re determined to Food Optimise 100% (which we know you are!) there’s very little to enjoy without spending big Syns!

Watch out for dishes described as coated, crispy, sautéed, breaded, deep-fried or topped with melted cheese – it’s a sure-fire indicator that they’re packed with Syns… and that’s most of the starter menu. Our recommendation: go straight for the mains and fill up on Free Food!

SALAD'S WHAT'S HOT AND WHAT'S NOT?
These seemingly angelic dishes can – at first glance – appear to be a great choice for Food Optimisers. Knowing what to look out for – and how easily the Syns can start soaring – will really help you pave a route to success.
Watch out for... croutons, cheese, avocado and fatty bacon - all easy ways of adding dozens of Syns without ever realising. What’s more, a creamy dressing helps it all slide down so easily!
Instead, go for options that are packed with Free Food, with lean meat or fish for extra satisfaction and that have a light (fruit or balsamic-based) vinaigrette – there’ll still be a few Syns, but you’ll be maximising your Food Optimising satisfaction for minimal Syns. By asking for the dressing on the side, you’re giving yourself even more control – you get to add as much or as little as you want.
At TGI Friday’s asking for a few changes to what’s advertised will make a (Slimming!) world of difference:
Crispy Noodle Salad– the crispy noodles and sesame seeds are the two additions that bring the most Syns with them. If you’d enjoy your meal without them, ask the waiter… the worst they can say is ‘no can do’! And if you do enjoy your salad with noodles and sesame seeds, estimate on the higher side.
BBQ Chicken Salad– the barbecue sauce and cheese add the Syns this time. Ask for yours on the side, and stay beautifully in control of how much you add.

FOR MAXIMUM FREE FOOD GO TO THE GRILL
The very place to let your eyes settle is on the ‘Fresh from the grill’ section. There’s plenty of choice when it comes to seafood and steak – and the side-dishes too:
8oz* New York Strip – generally quite lean
12oz* Ribeye Steak – usually with a rind of fat which is easy to chop off (that way, you know it’s Free!)
16oz* Bone-In Sirloin
Surf & Turf Combos
Seasoned vegetables – steamed and lightly salted mean your veggies are Superfree!
Cajun-spiced rice – possibly cooked in a little oil, but saving you Syns galore compared to the fries and cheesy mash.
Watch out for:
Ribs or chicken. Smothered in glaze with more on the side, it quickly adds up.
Side-orders of cheesy mashed potatoes – whichever way you look at it, it won’t be Free. Count a handful of Syns per spoonful or ask to swap the mash for Cajun-spiced rice or extra vegetables.
Steak sauces – your choices of maison butter, wild mushroom, Jack Daniel’s or bourbon peppercorn. These come on the side, so you get to decide how much to enjoy. Over-estimate to keep your weight loss safe and sound – 5-6 Syns for the little pot.

PASTA POSSIBILITIES
In most restaurants, pasta dishes described as creamy, cheesy or even topped with breadcrumbs are the ones that are also highest in Syns. Tomato-based sauces tend to be lower-Syn options – although it’s still worth counting a handful for the oil that’s added during cooking.
At TGI Friday’s, head for the Spicy Diablo Pasta – packed with filling Superfree Food including broccoli, green beans, mushrooms and red pepper, and topped with a spicy chilli and tomato sauce. Ask for the cheese on the side, so you can sprinkle as much or as little as you’d like – counting as you go.

THIRST QUENCHER
If you’re sticking with the Free Food, make a bee-line to the bottomless glass of diet coke –free refills of this Free drink!

Thanks wombat. I'm going to have a good look at the menu on line and plan what I'm going to have as opposed to eating anything because I'm hungry!

Support on here is great.

ChippingInLatteLover · 31/01/2015 09:43

Wombat. I'm glad you are anticipating 'The wall'. It's important for your mental health (to not let it drag you down) and your physical health (not to send you flying off the wagon). It's good to know you are 'getting' that x

As for the gym, I'm a bit puzzled. Did the guy who set it up for you not take you through it?

I hope you haven't done too much damage to your knee. Make sure you know where your feet should be placed etc.

You really should have had someone take you through the whole program showing you how to use the machines and checking the weights were right for you. Some of the machines you'll be at best wanting your time on and at worst hurting yourself on, if you are doing the technique properly.

anothernumberone · 31/01/2015 10:55

Wombat I am delurking, I really hope you don't mind, just to say you are inspirational. I am not doing SW but I am following another programme and I find this thread fantastic for reminding me that others overcome the challenges daily, especially this week when I have totally fallen off as I was not well. Your dedication and the impact the changes are having on your overall well being are clear to see and after a poor weight loss week from me you have reminded me to get back up on that bleedin horse because there is always next week.

I actually have no doubt you will achieve the goals you have set for yourself, your achievements so far clearly demonstrate how driven you are. Best of luck to you wombat and to you all on the thread.Flowers I hope you don't mind others taking inspiration from you in the background.
