Just been lurking and see you have mentioned zumba wombat. I do a daily zumba workout via youtube so no one has to see my terrible moves. I do the zuma Rio reduce tummy one. Search for it its really fun and tummy focussed.
Good luck to all of you.

MisForMumNotMaid · 07/01/2015 12:58

That soup does sound good. More like a meal in a pan. There ought to be another name for something thats technically a soup, but's more like a meal.

I used to make the children what they called gloops. A cross between baby food and soup, really thick but pureed leftovers with salt free stock added.

I belong to a private gym. Part of a hotel chain. Its got several training rooms, a big bikes room, several empty rooms with sprung floors for kids and adults classes, a selection of squash courts and the usual big pool, tiny pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.

I joined because DS1 is Autistic and can't cope at the bustling local leisure centre. They have 3 big fantastic family/ disabled private changing rooms with each one having toilet, shower, sink, bench, change facilities, toddler chair with straps (great to strap down the youngest whilst having a shower). It makes the whole place accessible for us being able to get DS1 to a known safe space if it gets too much. Its also really nice being able to change in private when i'm so body concious.

It costs £45/ month for my membership and that of my three DC. This includes all classes. DD will hopefully be starting ballet soon and DS2 will be joining afterschool athletics. We swim every Sunday and i try to take the DC once in the week too. Its my intention, now DD is doing some nursery, to go myself and swim/ hopefully do pilaties(sp). I have never been in the gym. I'd love too on some levels but lack the confidence. I think i'll get into the routine of swimming first and then think about doing more.

CoconutAmericano · 07/01/2015 17:54

misfor your gym sounds fantastic, so family friendly Smile I'm loving the fact you can strap in the toddler so you can shower! Genius! And as you said, having a safe place for your son. Very reasonably priced too. I honestly think if you can get into a swim suit then wearing a pair of tracky bottoms should feel ok.

Nobody replied to my membership query at my gym (typical Hmm) so gonna ring them tomorrow. Mine isn't as good value as yours but I am ready to get stuck in

Well having had two syn free days i just had to have some home made parsley sauce to go over my ham fillet tonight but I've worked it out as only 4 syns for my tablespoon so I am happy with that.

Anyone eat anything nice today?

CoconutAmericano · 07/01/2015 17:57

This is the kinda thing I'm going to buy for swimming in if I join the gym. Will hide a few sins!!

MisForMumNotMaid · 07/01/2015 19:31

My gym avoidance isn't completely body based. Its to do with fear of humiliation using the equipment wrong. Rather like a comedy sketch pressing the wrong button on a treadmill and it going really fast, or falling of the back of a rowing machine. People coming out the gym, who are admittedly all shapes and sizes, always look so competent and sort of relaxed/ glowing from their workout.

I quite like the idea of the bikes room. You can set the big screen to a multitude of landscapes and go for a ride on the flat in Holland, up in the Swiss Alps, racing, all sorts. Its something that the elder two DC could do with me, but we've never got round too.

Regarding fees. Negotiate. Many things in life are negotiable. Gym fees most definitely are. Mine should probably be just over double what they are. If they wont bend on the basic rate its worth asking if you can get some personal trainer, gym intro, guest passes thrown in. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Worryingwombat · 07/01/2015 22:41

Mis- your gym sounds amazing!!! Wow I would love somewhere I could take ds3 too as well as he as autism also!

I have been speaking to a few of the Sw group members and they go to ladies night at the local pool so might join them plus in the hall that our class is in they do Zumba too on a Tuesday so planning to shake my booty next week!! GrinGrinGrin

B weetabix and milk
L spicy veg soup (just chucked a red chilli in!!)
T frittata and salad

Still feeling bloated and flabby!! Plus star week has arrived Hmm (would happen the day before weigh in!!)

Worried as I am at the hospital again tomorrow about the intracranial hypertension only saw them 4 weeks ago so I don't think the last scans could have gone well!! Hmm Really want to last longer until I have to have the operation!! So will need a little hand hold tomorrow ladies about 4pm x

Weigh in tomorrow!! Excited!! Happy that group will be back to normal and I will feel focused again!!

I have also been asked to be part of my Sw consultants social team! (Weighing greeting and selling GrinGrin)
Must be my smiley face!! Or perhaps he knows I am a nutter!!! Either way I was happy to help! Just another reason to keep me on track and keep me going Grin

Well done Wombat - all sounds great.

I put 7lb on over the last 2 weeks - not great but not as bad as I could have done. Obviously a long way to go as almost back to square one, but if I hadn't been going to group, then I'd be 11lb heavier going into Christmas so at least that's a positive!

Not sure about the new plan - feels a bit weird but hopefully I'll get the hang of it. I do think the Extra Easy SP sounds like the Atkins diet though Wink

Worryingwombat · 08/01/2015 09:42

Well done oneowl! I am sure the lbs will drop of easy!!!

I feel like the focus is coming back! Looking forward to group tonight Grin

Not looking forward to weigh in!! Last weigh in I was 20st 3 1/2lb Shock

I would love to have lost 4lb and see that 19st whatever on the scale it has been over 5 years since I have been under 20stone!!!

Not that hopeful as I know I have eaten right but my period arrived so just feel sluggish Hmm

Penguito · 08/01/2015 10:18

Hi everyone please can I join in your weight loss club? Smile

I've been at slimming world since April- my starting weight was 16 stone 7- last night I weighed in at 16 stone 6.5 HmmConfusedso 9 months later and I am half a pound lighter!!! Don't get me wrong- I had been doing really well at the start, I had a stone off then it started to creep back on, then one week I would lose 1lb, then put on 1.5lb the next Confused

It is,of course, all my own fault, I enjoy chocolate and takeaways too much. However this new year I really am determined to do it. I have two young children- 4 years old and 2 years old and like you worryingwombat, I have Intracranial Hypertension.

I'm hoping if I have a little online group of people to talk to and support me it will help me stick to it Smile

Deedeecupcake · 08/01/2015 13:29

Hi guys,
Just spent several hours reading the entire thread and you have all done so bloomin' great!! Well done all of you!!
I started the plan this morning (eeeek!). I weighed in last night at 13st 10.5lb so I think I have about four stone to lose. It seems like I will never be able to lose that huge amount of weight at all. Especially since there's so much food that you can eat on this programme!!
I'm not much of a dairy eater at all, so my hea is going to kill me. This morning I had porridge (heb) with frozen raspberries. But I still have 125ml of milk to use and I literally have no clue how to use it!! Very rarely drink tea or coffee and would never sit down and drink a glass of milk. Any ideas?

MisForMumNotMaid · 08/01/2015 13:39

Hello Penguito. Another person to keep the thread moving has got to be a good thing.

On the positive side, if you're like most of us gainers each year passing represents a slight increase on the scales something like 7lb typically for those that don't have an eating regime I believe. So starting this year 0.5lb down would have potentially been 7.5lb up if you hadn't been monitoring.

Why do you want to loose weight?

Have you got mini targets? I set myself all sorts of mini targets and have all sorts of rewards that I award myself. Be it a guilt free hour of not cleaning/ washing/ ironing etc and sitting down with a magazine or my 3st award when i purchased a hair zapper so that i can get my legs out next summer.

I like chocolate and eat it every day. I have a hifi light bar as half a healthy B with a milky decaf coffee before bed. On a weekend i have a mini green and black chocolate bar (4/4.5 syn) or a frozen curly whirly (6syn?). I also love the muller light choc and orange and probably eat about 4 mullers a week.

Today was a positive weigh in 2lb off. Still just shy of getting under that stone urgh! So 3st10.5 down, maybe 2 st 1.5lb to go.

Its a really mad week this week. My sisters two are with me 7am- 6pm till the end of next week so i've five DC in the house. 1 is autistic, 1 undergoing diagnosis and 1 with significant traits. I wont be SPing yet. I might plan for next week though.

I'm going to Venice with my DH in April. Our first child free away break since we got married 5.5 years ago. I really want to be 1 stone 1lb lighter and have 12 weeks to achieve that. I might just need to do a week or two of SPing in that time to get there.

MisForMumNotMaid · 08/01/2015 13:52

Deedee, i think i'd just not have a hep a and ensure that the rest of my diet was calcium rich to compensate NHS link here with which foods to look out for to add calcium to your diet. Most calcium rich non dairy are S foods like broccoli and most green leafy veg. Sardines are another option and a P

I'm definitely eating more now that I've done in the last 20 years. Just trust the plan.

Deedeecupcake · 08/01/2015 14:17

Thanks for the link mis. Haven't had a chance to read it yet but will sit down with it tonight.
I think I can use the rest of my milk by having 3 heaped tsp of drinking chocolate for 3.5 syns and having a nice hot chocolate tonight :)
I have meal planned for the rest of the week, but I think I need to plan my syns. I can see myself not using them at all for days on end and then splurging and going totally overboard. I like the idea that we can treat ourselves every day. Any nice syn ideas?

MisForMumNotMaid · 08/01/2015 14:28

Whats your thing? Some people love a glass of something sparkly, some something sweet, others its a bag or crisps every time.

I keep mini milk icelollies (1.5syn) in the freezer for when the DC have an icecream/ lolly. I also keep frozen curly whirlys in for when I want a bigger 6 syn chocolate splurge (unless the DC get to them all first). I also like crisps so keep french fries in at 4.5 syns a bag they're amongst the lowest syned crisps.

Just occasionally I fancy a glass of wine so have some small bottles in to save finishing off a big bottle.

I use a few with my meals so I'll have a 1 syn drizzle of honey on SW pancakes or a generous helping (3level tablespoons) extra light mayo for 1.5syn with spicy chicken. I also use oil on chips cooked in the actifry so if its just me and DH the 6 syn tablespoon of oil the chips cook in is between the two of us so 3 syns each. Or if the chips go five ways I count it as 2 syns because the DC don't eat as many as DH and I.

Penguito · 08/01/2015 14:59

Sounds like you have your hands full mis! I want to lose weight for a lot of reasons- my health, my confidence, I want to wear nice clothes, I want to be able to look a photos of myself and not think straightaway 'oh no look how fat I look.'

Overall I want to lose about 6 stone- I don't really have any mini targets set, I'm just taking it one lb at a time at the minute!

Worryingwombat · 08/01/2015 23:10

Penguito and deedee welcome to our very friendly mad house!! Great to meet more Sw users as we all share meal tips and recipes! So welcome again!

Mis - congratulations on the 2lb loss!! Grin With 12 weeks I know you will reach the goal you have set!! I would be so excited I have always wanted to go to Venice! It's on my bucket list!!

I have had an amazing evening!! First my consultant gave me the news that my scan results this time showed improvement and the weight loss and medications are working!!!! I will not see him again for 4months!!!!! So happy I burst in to tears!!!!! GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Then at group I lost 5 1/2lb !!!!!!!!!! And got my club 10 award (for losing 10 % of my body weight!!) so happy!!!

So good news all round!! I will not need to have the operation at this time and I will be reviewed again in May!! For from making me complacent this has spurred me on can you imagine the weight I could lose in 4 months!! 16 weeks I average around 3lb a week which is a lot to ask every week but even at 2lb if all goes well I could at least lose 2 more stone! Possibly 3!! At least it will keep me
Motivated and on plan!!

Xxxx Grin

dexter73 · 09/01/2015 10:35

Wombat - what amazing news. It's brilliant that you have managed to have such a positive effect on your health in just a couple of months. Also more shiny stickers for your book!

MisForMumNotMaid · 09/01/2015 11:50

Wombat thats fantastic on so many counts. Club 10 already and under the next stone threshold.

Did you get any sleep last night? I can imagine all the positive energy from so much good news made it hard to stop your mind racing with life's possibilities.

Easy jet now fly to venice from Manchester so we've got a not too bad deal on flights and a reasonable hotel rate with a buffet breakfast.

I need a bucket list. So much of life has happened to me the last few years. This is the year I take control and make things happen for my family. What other sorts of things go on a bucket list?
