androbbob thank you so much for the offer of sending the books but I am definitely going to class next week and pick up the new books.

Thanks Huffpot for the 7/7/7 explanation. Think I would find that difficult, especially the 7 syns!

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/04/2013 19:20

Thanks Hollie and sure by the time I come back from holiday I will gain those 9 lbs :(

777 / thought about it - and surely if sw say we should have 10-15 syns a day then why say have 7 which I less then half - therefore sure we would lose weight

I drink 7 glasses of water anyway

And prob do have 7 ss foods

Well done blondes - 9lbs loss is great - I think I have lost 7lbs since Christmas, if that makes you feel any better. Us tortoises have to stick together!

I am doing success express tomorrow and Sunday in an attempt to boost my minimal loss for this week - I am probably on for another half pound loss unless I shake my bootie! Been to the gym four times this week and flogged myself but over indulged on Monday and Tuesday. Seems to be a patter. as I do that most weeks. I will not do that this week. I am drinking loads of water this week to help pass things through!

How is everyone else planning to cope at the weekend??

muminthecity · 26/04/2013 22:11

Blondes - I thought SW say we should aim for 5-15 syns a day? I have been aiming for 7 most days, but have managed to keep it to 5 occasionally. Today I've had 9.

androbbob - Weekends are going to be bloody hard for me I think. I'm always out and about and find it much harder to find SW friendly foods, especially if I'm at a friend's house (as I will be all day Sunday) or out drinking (as I will be tomorrow night!) I'm just going to try to drink spirits with diet coke and not have too many! Will also make no sure I have no other syns, so I can use them all on alcohol! Blush

I actually came on to post because I've just had a fantastic dessert and thought I'd share! I made Eton Mess by mixing a spoonful of quark with a spoonful of fat free Greek yoghurt and a sprinkling of splenda. I mixed in some chopped strawberries and blackberries and topped with 2 crumbled up mini meringues. The whole massive bowlful was only a mere 2 syns! It was delicious and really satisfied my sweet craving Grin.

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 27/04/2013 09:52

Up a lb. I knew I would be. Oh well, finding it very hard to be motivated at the moment

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/04/2013 10:10

Androb. That makes me feel better Grin good to be a tortoise xx

Mum - sw say 70-105 a week so 10-15 a day. I do mine over a week - works better for me - but they say you must eat syns so seems weird they advertise 777 as then half the syns - so you should lose weight if not having day crisps chocolate booze etc - the things people usually spend on syns iyswim

Fish :( at gain

Curlywurlysareyum · 27/04/2013 10:11

Muminthecity - I always had my 15 syns at the beginning but last 2 weeks have aimed for 10 a day as the weight comes off I think it gets harder. But some days I've 5 and others 15. They kind of balance each other out then. I find weekends really hard too. Since I started sw 8 weeks ago I have hardly gone anywhere!! I'm out for dinner next weekend and dreading it as I am not keen on spirits preferring wine and I'm not good at moderation!!! Think it might be a night i just write off and forget sw!!
I also find out and about hard too. I carry fruit now and alpen light bars (3.5 syns) everywhere I go to help me. It's so hard.

Curlywurlysareyum · 27/04/2013 10:13

Fish - don't get disheartened.

Curlywurlysareyum · 27/04/2013 10:15

Blondes - 9lbs off is fab. U could have 9 on if u hadnt been trying all these weeks. Well done :)

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/04/2013 10:26

It's pathetic compared to others who started same time as me and have lost 1.5/2stone Envy

But yes a loss :)

Eating out is hard - I normally have chicken breast salad and jacket or pasta and tom&basil sauce

Huffpot · 27/04/2013 11:36

Don't forget Blondes it depends on how much weight you have to lose overall (I think)
Hmm

NanaNina · 27/04/2013 19:56

Hopeforever just wanted to say I think it's a really good idea for you to do SW online, but I was amazed to see how expensive it is. My friend has ME/CFS and I know how she struggles sometimes and after reading your post I did suggest SW online and she's going to think about it, but she too is amazed at the price.

Will be interested to see how you get on.

Fish I have had trouble before on SW and wasn't losing. I am in week 3 of doing it myself from my old books and purposely haven't weighed myself because I know if I've put any on or STS I will lose motivation. I know they say to weigh yourself once a week, and IF I see the weight coming off I will start to do that. Just thought this might work for you too, but difficult if you go to class.

NanaNina · 27/04/2013 20:18

Can anyone tell me why Scan(ky)brans are half the size they used to be and are 1 syn each, whereas the larger ones were 1/2 syn each. Also when I did it for the first time some years ago, corned beef was free but now it isn't. Think that was because of the high salt content of corned beef so it's good I suppose that SW really is healthy eating.

Think I might revert to my usual 2 rice cakes and banana (or 2) for breakfast. This will be 3 syns but so much nicer and easier to eat than scanbran.

I am using my syns for Cadburys Crunchie (they last longer if you keep them in the fridge or even the freezer!) and Aldi ice cream sundaes (there are 4 in a pot, chocolate, caramel, mascarpone and cherry. Don't know how many syns they are but they are only 160 calories so can't be too bad. Mind time will tell, or the scales will................

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/04/2013 20:23

Nina I'm guessing 8syns if you use the 20cals=1 syn rule

Doing a wedding sit in a posh castle and just been given yummy room
Service. Tried to chose healthily lol

At the risk of sounding ridiculous I think the problem is I'm so close to target I don't feel the need to try anymore iykwim... When I had a stone to go I was motivated, now I'm a bit "ah well close enough".

Need to pull my thumb out, also need to revise target by a few lbs as still have a muffin top that wasn't there when at this weight previously..

Bloody kids Grin

Hopeforever · 27/04/2013 22:53

Thank you for all your helpful comments

First WI and I've lost 3lb in the week, so happy.

Tell me about Scan(ky) bran?

Congratulations on all the grea results

iklboo · 27/04/2013 23:52

Oh heavens to Betsy. The food last night was sublime!!! Probably about 40,000 syns but so worth it. Until WI on Monday. I'm hoping being good the rest of the week will mitigate.

Daisybell1 · 28/04/2013 07:42

May I join you all?

I did Slimming World a year ago and got on with it really well. However I had some bad health news and gave up, and unfortunately the bad health news has continued.

In the last week I've eaten my body weight in chocolate and drunk a bathtub of wine, but I've found my books again and need to start.

Unfortunately, I really don't like the local leader, and given she does the classes both at home and near where I work, does it work 'going it alone'?

I'm not sure if I dare face the scales yet though...

3girls1madboy · 28/04/2013 10:49

Hi Daisy I only go to group to weigh in...I was going to 'go it alone', but I found that I became complacent, and the threat of the scales going up again, sent me back Smile

Morning everyone....hope everyone had a bit of sunshine wherever you are this morning. I saw my dress for my mum's wedding yesterday, and it's gorgeous!!!! My lovely hubby said that the 14 would be too big by the time I buy it in 4 weeks time, so I am aiming for the 12.

iklboo indulge us slimmers, what did you have to eat???

Jinty64 · 28/04/2013 12:10

Well done to all those who lost weight this week and commiserations to those who didn't.

My family are trying to sabotage my diet!!! Dh told me not to bother cooking last night, we would get a Chinese - so we did. I stuck to chow mein but had already had a meringue with my sins. Now ds3 has found the toastie maker (hidden for years) and wants a cheese toastie. I can smell it already and I haven't got it out of the cupboard yet. Ds2 wants to go to Tesco for "something nice" as apparently there's nothing to eat in the house, arrrrrrr!

I'm having a salad, I'm having a salad, I'M HAVING A SALAD. Weigh in tomorrow. I sooooo want to lose 2 stone by 6th July and I'm not sure I'm going to do it.

3girls1madboy · 28/04/2013 13:01

Jinty my family do the same! DH will go to tesco, and come home with chocolate biscuits, or the new teaser bar. But he will buy me strawberries and blueberries to compensate. Doesn't help though, I end up sniffing the chocs instead. I tend to keep a bar of dairy milk in the fridge and suck one small piece a day.....god I sound deranged Confused

NanaNina · 28/04/2013 17:40

Hi hopeforever - what I am calling Scan(ky) brans are really Scanbran, and they are like Ryvita only much crisper. You can get them from Holland & Barret and it says "Slimming World" on them. They are less "sawdusty" than they used to be but a large one was 1/2 syn and I found they were OK with sliced banana. They are now half the size and are 1 syn each. I have asked but I have found that people on this thread are not good at answering queries, or maybe they don't know. Well done with your 3lb weight loss. Did you do red and green days or the ExtraEasy or a combination.

Hi Daisybell1 of course you can join - it's not a club - it's an open forum! Sorry to hear about your bad health news and hope it's not too serious. I know exactly what you mean when you say you dare not get on the scales, been there, got the T shirt. However I think it's important that you steel yourself to do this, because it's at that moment when you look down at your weight is the start of the journey. Much better to do this at home than at SW class, and you can do it without any clothes on! I have done SW twice before - once at class and lost 2 stone and once on my own and had the same weight loss, but I only ever lose about 1lb a week.

You can do it online but it is horrendously expensive - I couldn't believe it - about £60 I think was the cheapest. From what I gather on this thread there are new books out this year in January, so it may be best if you go to class once to get the books (which is what I did last time) and then do it yourself at home. I intend to do the same this time.

So go on Daisy hop on those scales and you will on the starting line, ready for your journey - slow but steady wins the race!

makemeslim · 28/04/2013 18:10

Hello, just looking into the room, and i found you guys / girls Grin, i joined sw 2 weeks ago, trying hard!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/04/2013 18:22

well done daisy

welcome hope :)

OP posts:
Holliewantstobehot · 28/04/2013 18:48

I don't go to class either daisy, mainly because I felt the leader praised all the people who had high weight losses while clubbing every weekend and drinking a lot and tended to ignore slow coaches like me who tried really hard but struggled.

I have however found that reading this forum and weighing myself has been very effective. I usually have one or two good weeks and then regress, finally giving up after losing and putting on the same four pounds.

I am just now completing week four and have lost twice and then stayed the same and hoping for a loss this week. This is the first time I haven't gained which i would normally have done by now.

I find that not having the pressure of weighing in group has been positive for me as I am a slow loser and am not sitting in group comparing myself to other who lose pounds every week. Just comparing myself to myself iyswim. Also this forum is great as you realise that everyone else is having the same struggles, which I didn't think always came across in the group.

I know weighing for the first time is horrible, but it might not be as bad as you think!
