  • I wish.

Morning all,

Hope you find this!

for your rough night Amber.

After a few good ones, we had a crap one too. Up at 1.30, 3, 4.30, 5.30, 6.15........
I think she was a bit overtired last night. Hope we can get her napping better today .

So how were all your nights?

OP posts:
Amberjee · 18/10/2007 19:57

there are some blardy fireworks going off in the distance. if one of them wakes up my perfectly self settled ds, there is going to be hell to pay. H-E-L-L T-O P-A-Y.

MegBusset · 18/10/2007 20:08

Argh I know what you mean, Amber -- have had a few going off around here the past week or so and I suspect it's only going to get worse

What's more, we live next to a park where they have a huge display on Nov 5. Wonder if I can get DS some baby earplugs?

Amberjee · 18/10/2007 20:18

what's it for? gee, am i naive?

gingerninja · 18/10/2007 20:28

This is the run up to bonfire night where we celebrate terrorism or is it we celebrate foiling the terrorists I forget? Anyway, 5th Nov, bonfire night and my mums birthday so we always had a party as kids and I have a real fondness for it although the fireworks are all bangers these days and they go on for weeks (it's feel buggering about as opposed to organised events)

MegBusset · 18/10/2007 20:29

Ah, I tend to forget that it's not celebrated anywhere apart from the UK!

November 5 is Guy Fawkes' Night, the celebration of the failure of a Catholic plot to blow up the Houses Of Parliament in 1605. These days it is mainly just an excuse for teenagers to chuck bangers at each other for a few weeks

MegBusset · 18/10/2007 20:31

Now when I was a wee lass we couldn't afford proper fireworks so used to get the so-called 'indoor fireworks', which I think were later banned as containing cancer-causing chemicals...

Amberjee · 18/10/2007 20:36

oh dear, so i'm going to be on tender hooks until nov 5 is over wondering if ds is going to be woken up. sigh.

gingerninja · 18/10/2007 20:38

can any of you ladies help?

Amber, hate to tell you but they tend to linger until Christmas but the main 'events' as it were will be the weekend nearest the 5th

MegBusset · 18/10/2007 20:46

Ah your poor DD, have you tried taking her into the shower to see if the steam will loosen up the phlegm?

Amberjee · 18/10/2007 20:54

i don't know ginger sorry. when i have a sore throat i drink an infusion of cumin seeds, just steep them in boiled water for 5 mins or so and drink. i don't know if she'd drink a little of that once it cooled?
vicks rub?
hmm, sorry i can't be more help.

gingerninja · 18/10/2007 21:01

Ta both, good idea meg.

Amberjee · 18/10/2007 21:01

oh forgot to say the cumin is an ayurvedic remedy.

EffiePerine · 19/10/2007 07:29

We also get lots of fireworks aound Diwali which is also Nov I think? Too lazy to google .

Hope there were some good nights - another small progress for us, some slightly longer stretches but still lots of wakings, And I need to get on a train to go to Manchester. Sigh.

skirmish · 19/10/2007 07:35

morning ep - you beat me to the first post!

good night here - a few little murmurs last night but nothing we needed to go in for - yay! awake at 6ish, and must have dozed on and off til 7am - he was quiet at least!

hope you have a good book for the train - nah, just shut your eyes and catch some zzz'z! hope work are sending you 1st class!!

Tamdin · 19/10/2007 07:41

ep i'll swap and go to mcr for you. am missing all my friends atm

skirmish for your night again

ours ok i guess. ds went to bed at 8
I fell asleep beside him (again )
he was very restless though so i spent most of the night clinging onto the edge

he didn't really wake as such just needs repositioned. at least he's totally dropped the milk and isn't even drinking much water now either

tibsy · 19/10/2007 08:35

EP - yey for your improved stretches

Skirmish - yey for you too

tam you must be needing the sleep atm sweetcheeks. youre missing your pals in manchester

our night involved 3 feeds, none of which she really needed, i just did it automatically...so much for night weaning
shes got a streaming cold and her teeth are almost through, so dont think i'm going to be very successful for a while, ho hum.

off to meet mum for a coffee shortly...

tibsy · 19/10/2007 08:57

Ginger - hope lo feels better soon

MegBusset · 19/10/2007 09:06

Tibs, I'm sure I wouldn't bother night weaning if I was co-sleeping!

EP glad you had some longer stretches and hope you can doze on the train.

Skirmish yay for your night!

Tam well done on dropping the milk

Our night was a bit , pretty unsettled (I suspect teeth as he has refused everything except yoghurt this morning, not even toast) with stirrings every couple of hours... but still only one night feed (4.30) and still in his cot all night

Tamdin · 19/10/2007 09:38

meg i think you're doing so well with the cot and the no feeding until 4.30. ou've more will power than me! well done

Tamdin · 19/10/2007 09:40

tibs for dd's cold. if it's not one thing it's your mother as they say! speaking of which enjoy coffee with your mum

MegBusset · 19/10/2007 09:44

Ah, I miss my mum (she lives in France), wish she was nearby!

Tamdin · 19/10/2007 09:45

meg that is tough. i lived away from mum and dad for a long time but have to say it's nice to be back near them. a little trip to france with ds may be in order!

Tamdin · 19/10/2007 12:31

quiet today.hope you're all sleeping!

skirmish · 19/10/2007 12:36

it is quiet - don't normally pop in during the day, but ds sleeping, and have done most of the housework (ok, i'm sure there is something i could do!)

Tamdin · 19/10/2007 12:49

likewise though i hear rustlings and there is no way he's getting up after 50 minutes so best go check.......
