  • I wish.

Morning all,

Hope you find this!

for your rough night Amber.

After a few good ones, we had a crap one too. Up at 1.30, 3, 4.30, 5.30, 6.15........
I think she was a bit overtired last night. Hope we can get her napping better today .

So how were all your nights?

OP posts:
Amberjee · 18/10/2007 09:37

don't know what's going on. my body just isn't up to scratch at the moment. bless ds though as he slept in until 8.30 with only 2 wakings, so i got the best rest i probably could (except for watching greys anatomy until 10 )

EffiePerine · 18/10/2007 10:45

Amber: sun and rest (where possible!)

Amberjee · 18/10/2007 10:48

both hard to get!

tibsy · 18/10/2007 11:02

meg - that was a great night, apart from the loooong waking. i agree in sticking to your guns (i'm a bit wimpy tho sometimes)....i think you're doing a grand job and have seen some real improvements for sure

EP - i can see some def improvements in your night too. yey baby EP for the early bedtime!! your afternoon after the jabs sounds lovely, glad ds was ok

Amber a good night love. glad for you as you're feeling crappy x

just been out to feed the ducks (dd loves that) just waiting for a friend to call around. not doing much else today......apart from parent's evening tonight for ds, arrrrrrrggggghhhhhh

EffiePerine · 18/10/2007 11:57

Tibs: thought you might be interested to see this:

www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/mind/articles/emotions/teenagers/sleep.shtml

Could explain a lot... remember someone saying that teens and babies have a lot in common - huge amounts going on neurologically. Good luck with tonight!

tibsy · 18/10/2007 12:47

EP, thank you so much for that, that was really thoughtful. i try so hard to remain patient with my darling boy, but every blardy morning....it just drives me crazy some times!! i suspect he is playing games after lights out and have to periodically remove offending articles...little tike!!

have just had a phone call from a friend to say that her lo has got measles. dd hasnt had her jabs yet and was in contact with him yesterday. think i may call the docs to see what they say? am feeling a bit anxious now

gingerninja · 18/10/2007 13:05

Oh hope she hasn't picked it up Tibs. I don't really know anything about measles but I thought it was dangerous for boys. I had it when I was a child. Let us know what they say.

for those rotten nights, poor DD was choked up with cold still last night and my cats were playing with a mouse they'd brought in so I had to chase them and it around the house in the middle of the night so all in all a very unsettled night in the Ginger household.

Tam another good one. You won't need us soon.

Amber, hope you're feeling better soon lovely

EffiePerine · 18/10/2007 13:05

Oh no . Am paranoid about measles atm (that may have come up before!). Worth checking with GP I think. When does your DD have her MMR? It's 13 months here.

tibsy · 18/10/2007 13:19

have just phoned her, she left a message before. its german measles, dont know if thats worse as shes a girl? i know pregnant women have to avoid it if they havent had jabs. oh god. supposed to be 13mths here too. the irony is, i received her 'invitation' to have the MMR anytime from the 29th of this month.

just googled it... phew, apparently rubella is quite mild, think i'll check tho as shes due her jabs in a couple of weeks and the incubation period is 2-3 wks

panic over, thanks guys

tibsy · 18/10/2007 13:19

ginger - for your unsettled night love

MegBusset · 18/10/2007 13:22

Ginger poor mouse, did it make it out alive? Luckily our cat is too lazy to catch anything apart from the odd daddy-long-legs.

Tibsy, hopefully your DD won't have measles but my stepmum, who's a GP, once told me that in a healthy baby in a developed world it's really not that much of a problem. No worse than chicken pox, for which there isn't a vaccine anyway. The blanket immunisation is more to protect those at greater risk, eg with immune system problems.

MegBusset · 18/10/2007 13:23

X-posted Tibsy! I had rubella as a child too -- again no great shakes unless you are pg, I believe.

EffiePerine · 18/10/2007 13:24

ah, rubella. PG women are at risk because if they catch it, it can cross the placenta and affect the developing child and can cause birth defects. Which is why kids are immunised against it. I had it twice as a child and no probs that I can remmeber. Much better than 'proper' measles

gingerninja · 18/10/2007 13:36

Tibsy, hope the others have reassured you.

Meg, erm the mouse. I doubt it's survived because by the time I'd got a suitable vessel to catch it in the cat was standing looking at me with it hanging out of his mouth so I slapped him on the bum with newspaper to get him to drop it and he shot out the cat flap. Unfortunately it happens all too frequently. pesky cats.

tibsy · 18/10/2007 13:40

yep, phew phew phew...phoned the docs and they said to mention it to the nurse when i take her in for her jabs as it's about the same time she would be developing symptoms iyswim?
thanks guys, you managed to calm an over anxious, panicky tibsy!!

ginger, our cat, rest her soul, used to catch frogs. heck they squeal

EffiePerine · 18/10/2007 15:14

Don't suppose any of you want to go to the Baby Show at Earl's Court this weekend? I have tickets going free...

Amberjee · 18/10/2007 15:26

tibs, i think you're right, the german measles type (rubella) is not a prob for children, other than them being a bit grouchy for a while. it's more a prob for preg women as can cause problems to unborn fetus if i understand correctly.

Amberjee · 18/10/2007 15:28

not really into baby show i'm afraid ep!

Tamdin · 18/10/2007 15:33

isn't CV supposed to be talking at it, that'll be fun!

Amberjee · 18/10/2007 15:35

oh, what an attraction then!!

Tamdin · 18/10/2007 15:37

you could go and throw stuff at her

ds been alseep since 1 who thinks i should go waken him?

MegBusset · 18/10/2007 15:46

Nooooo spend more time on MN instead

Amberjee · 18/10/2007 15:49

eh, give him 3 hours. he'll prob wake up by then.

gingerninja · 18/10/2007 15:50

yeah come and join the fight on 'chips on nursery menu' or whatever the thread title is. It's a classic case of people reading what they want and not listening. Probably because they've got too much lard between their ears.

Amberjee · 18/10/2007 19:49

my brain switched off when i tried to read that thread.
