  • I wish.

Morning all,

Hope you find this!

for your rough night Amber.

After a few good ones, we had a crap one too. Up at 1.30, 3, 4.30, 5.30, 6.15........
I think she was a bit overtired last night. Hope we can get her napping better today .

So how were all your nights?

Meg: it has lots of steps, but you often get people helping you up.

yummybunnymummy · 16/10/2007 22:58

thank you for your supportive words...somehow you don't make it seem quite so bad! Last night was awful (hence the lack of mumsneting) and ds2 is still awake at the moment....

however today dh has been in a car crash, he is thankfully not hurt to bad, lots of bruises, poorly collarbone, will be really stiff and sore for a while, it was awful receiving the phone call and going to pick him up, the car was a complete write off and how he managed to walk away from it I'll never know..I don't like to think about it..he was so lucky.

Meg, Amber (everyone who is weaning) sounds like your all doing a grand job, just don't panic. With ds1 (mainly thanks to Anabel Karmel ) I was worried about preparing good, organic homemade meals 3 times a day and how much they ate..etc..etc.. but actually solid foods only supplement milk for the first year of your child's life.

With ds2 I just gave him finger bits and bobs of whatever we were having and let him play with it. There are loads of studies on baby-led weaning now and research that indicates a baby (if offered a wide and varied diet) will pick and eat to his bodies own requirements.

EffiePerine · 16/10/2007 23:02

YBM: what a shock for you . Glad your DH isn't too badly hurt. Are you going to be OK with transport for the time being?

yummybunnymummy · 16/10/2007 23:08

I still feel really shaky myself..we live in he middle of nowhere so we'll struggle until we get another car but its manageable so I'm not stressed and I've already caught dh looking at shiny cars on the internet (so he's feeling better) although he's really started to hobble and he couldn't get into the bath by himself..(hope he doesn't see this..)

the kids in their usual tactful way of understanding these sorts of things have spent all evening crashing their cars together and shouting 'crash'!!!

yummybunnymummy · 16/10/2007 23:17

tibsy - just realised I'd not replied to you, and I have only positives to say about tandem feeding, its been fantastic for us, but am off to bed, so will come back on in the morning, after a beautiful night in my bed...positive thoughts and vibes to the boys.......

skirmish · 17/10/2007 07:43

wow, lots to catch up on - bloody computer has had a virus so haven't been able to get on (i tell ya - the morning really drags on with it!!)

welcome bunny

after our good week it all went to pot on friday night, ds had stinking cold so was up half the night, resulting in me getting about 4 hrs sleep - and, back to 5am wakings since!

Had to resort back to my version of cc yest, and he has slept til 7am this morning, fingers crossed it continues!! Daytime sleep has gone to shit as well - had a 40mins lunchtime sleep, followed by a 50min full on tantrum on mon, so yest, when he woke after 40mins, i left him - cue 10 mins of crying, then back to sleep for another 50mins - didn't know what to do with myself!

also, he has taken a few little steps by himself so we are very proud parents here

amber - are you from oz originally? have you done flight yet? did it when ds was 5mths, it's not nearly as bad as you think!

to all those who aren't pg - though i personally think a 12mth gap is right on perfect!!!! [mad woman emoticon]

hope everyone is well - looks like lots of rain today so may well be hanging around here!

EffiePerine · 17/10/2007 08:16

YBM: hope your DH is feeling a bit better today. Do you get a courtesy car through your insurance? My parents had a bit of a job getting theirs when their car was nicked recently, but it got there eventually. If you're isolatd with small children you may need to bully them into doing somthing soon.

Skirmish: sorry things are going badly again. Colds are v unsettling.

A frustrating night for us. DH wanted to try getting DS to sleep sans boob, which meant quite a bit of yelling and DS not going to sleep until 10ish, then very unsettled and feeding all night . Not trying that one again. My take is that he needs more comfort and cuddles (and feeds) atm, DH a bit more ambivalent about bf I think though he hasn't said anything outright .

EffiePerine · 17/10/2007 08:18

Oh and DS has his 1 year jabs today . Part of me is relieved as I think it includes MMR and I am worried about measles atm but it isn't going to be fun...

tibsy · 17/10/2007 08:34

hi all

YBM - so pleased that your dh is ok. very scary for you x oh and thanks for positive report on tandem feeding!

skirmish for the cold. they always cock things up here too ..... yey for the steps tho!!

hi EP and for your restless night. sounds like he just needs that comfort atm it will pass. dd has gone/still goes thru phases like that. you're doing a sterling job

our night was rather good,
bed at 7.20pm
didnt wake til 4.50am
asleep til alarm at 7am

....ds, on the other hand has been a complete pita ......give me a sleepless bubs over a teenager who just wont get motivated in the morning everytime

hi to everyone, hoping for some good reports

tibsy · 17/10/2007 08:35

EP - chin up with the jabs....i'm a nervous wreck myself when it comes to needles

tibsy · 17/10/2007 08:50

oh, and amber, meant to say, that sounded like a lovely day with ds. makes it all worth while huh?

Tamdin · 17/10/2007 09:16

morning

Tibs for your night. sounds like a very good one. I know my ds is going to be one of those humpy teenagers. i can see it already!

YB hope dh is ok. It'll prob hurt more today as it usually does when you atsrt to heal

skirmish i still can't believe you're due another baby. You deserve a medal!

hello to EP, amber, ginger and meg. sorry never seem to find the time to catch up properly atm

amber i love those kind of days you had yesterday when all is right with the world

ep i would go wit the feeding hugs if it's what ds wants atm. it will pass

Meg your sister's experience on flight to nz makes me shiver! it's the type of thing ds would do and i worry too much what people think as it is never mind on a 1st class flight!! good for her for thinking balls to them!

anyway............
excellent night for us
Iput ds in our bed at 7.30, he was asleep by 8 and so was I!
woke at 7.15 for the day

MegBusset · 17/10/2007 09:41

Morning all

YBM for car crash, what a shock that must have been, hope DH mends quickly.

Skirmish and EP for unsettled nights.

Tam and Tibs for yours!

Ours was OK, went from bedtime to 2am without waking then fed at 4, then woke at 6.20 but managed to cuddle back to sleep til 7.20

He has spent the last three nights in his cot all night, which is just as well as I don't think our bed is safe for him now he's crawling...

Amberjee · 17/10/2007 10:31

glad your dh is ok YBM, things like that are very scary.
glad you had a brilliant night tam, and you too tibs. something in the water (milk?) ds woke at 9.30 and had a humumgous feed then slept until 4 which i was very happy about. bit unsettled after that, but pretty good stretch of sleep for me.
ep, hang in there, hope the jabs go okay. lots of cuddles today!
skirmish, yay for steps, but for hte sleep regression. yeah i'm from Oz, only been here since April last year. Take it you are Aussie as well?
meg, glad ds is in his cot. this morning, we let ds roam around the floor between his room and ours for about 45 mins while we stayed in bed. he did not cry, whinge or demand our attention at all and i actually fell asleep until i woke up in a panic wondering if he'd rewired the house electrics or something but he was fine. i'm really impressed that he entertained himself so long.

gingerninja · 17/10/2007 12:00

just a quickie as should be working.
YB and for the car crash. you sound very positive tho.
Tam for your night. long may it continue.
EP, I think 1 yr injection are just boosters for hib and men c aren't they? We were supposed to get them yesterday but DD was poorly.
Still full of cold. DH got into bed beside her last night and she slept until 4.30. Cue joining mummy in bed. Just wish she would drop back off easily but milk and wrestling later and she fell back to sleep at about 5.45 and I had to get up at 6. Still I got about 6 hours so can't complain.

tibsy · 17/10/2007 12:38

hi tam, amber, meg and ginger...wow!! good nights all round i reckon, yippeeeeeeeee!!!!!

Amberjee · 17/10/2007 14:21

may they long continue tibs.
ds has taken to settling himself for his after lunch nap. he doesn't fall asleep feeding as much as for the morning nap. he whinges a bit when i leave the room but is asleep within 10 minutes. mmm, progress!

Tamdin · 17/10/2007 15:03

that's great news amber. I don't know how ds came to settle himself at lunch time. think i left room once to go to loo and he fell asleep on his own and he has continued ever since. now if only he'd do the same at night time!

tibsy · 17/10/2007 15:23

fab news amber!!!!

Amberjee · 17/10/2007 16:51

oh dear, i've lost my voice. i've got a sore throat again. thought i was recovering. seem to be having a relapse. i've broken out the hardcore grapefruit seed extract and am gargling with it [foul taste emoticon]

skirmish · 18/10/2007 07:43

(does a little dance around the room) I don't care that I am the first up, ds slept in again, first I heard from him was at 6.49am - I had to double check the clock! Hopefully, this is the way forward, and not just knock on effects of the medised from bedtime (though doubt it would last that long would it?) No night wakings either, but that probably is due to the medised

Amber - for self -settling, big time for feeling poorly, hope you got a decent nights sleep and feel somewhat human today! yep, fellow aussie, been here since 2000!

sounds like there was a lot of good nights on tues, lets hope there was last night too!

bunny - how is dh? hope he is ok after accident

Tamdin · 18/10/2007 08:12

excellent news skirmish

good night here.
dh put ds to bed (i was at gym)
woke at 10 (because he was in cot. dh tougher than me!)
came into bed with us
woke at 7.30 for day

tibsy · 18/10/2007 08:37

hi guys

sleeptastic news skirmish

amber hope the foul tasting stuff worked its magic

tam yey for continued good night

our night, alas, was crap dd was very restless and fed twice in amongst many, many pats and cuddles back to sleep. eventually woke at 6.15am for the day.
perversely, i feel better than i did the other morning after having lots more sleep......think my body may have developed an allergy to sleep

MegBusset · 18/10/2007 09:16

Morning all and for Skirmish and Tam's nights.

Tibs for yours, I was with you last night. Not that bad on paper three wakings and up at 7 but one waking was 3-4.15

He hadn't fed til 4 for the last few nights so I was determined to try not to feed him til then, DH got v cross at me not feeding him for an hour (didn't leave him but was in and out of the room as he wouldn't settle), but I didn't want to undermine the progress we'd been making...

Anyway let's hope tonight is better!

Amber hope you're feeling more human this morning.

EffiePerine · 18/10/2007 09:28

Meg: for your long waking. DS was awake for ages at about 4am as well - not idea why. A bit better generally though - asleep by 8, woke hourly after that but more setteld between 12 and 4 then slept between 5ish and 7. Sounds awful but an improvement on previous nights! Tibs: sorry for your bad night as well.

Ginger: you're right, it was the men C jab. MMR is in 4 weeks, along with a pnemococcal one. I have an old red book with an out of date schedule - Hackney being organised again . Anyway, DS was a star, yelled once when the needle went in but fine afterwards. We had a lovely afternoon in the sun, running around the park and climbing the flowerbeds. He got very muddy but it tired him out!

Amber: sorry you're feeling bad again.

Skirmish: well done! Personally, I haven't found that Medised makes a lot of difference if DS is going to wake anyway.

Tam: any news on the flat?
