I think we might just have to start the day now. She woke up at 520 for a feed but then took a while to burp, then had s blow out and full outfit change, then had a cry. She's now sucking on the dummy ask I'll try and sleep but I'm not optimistic.

It's snowing like crazy here, but if it lets up I'll walk to the cafe in the village and treat myself to a good coffee and some cake.

UtterlyConfused111 · 16/01/2018 07:57

@actino happy birthday! I hope you spoil yourself today :-)

@hashtagtired
Thank you for the list! On my watchlist now after recommendations here are atypical and motherland.

@sakura03 good good about the bf. I used to very shy about feeding in public with dd1. This time around I was so sleep deprived that I accidentally answered the door to the post man (DD2 was 5 days old) with boob hanging out. It’s all fine.

and last night we had...,
Two feed night! Woo hoo! Went down at 649, Quick Feed at 1030 and another quick one at 330 and sleeping the rest of the time till 655!!! And she went straight back to sleep after 330 feed, and actually slept...!!! I feel like a new person after such large blocks of sleep.
Please may it continue!!!

And the in laws leave this morning :-)
They are really nice and I feel slightly guilty now but it’s ultimately my fault. I should’ve been more firm that I didn’t want guests at this time (till dd is sleeping)

Zampa · 16/01/2018 08:10

Awful night's (lack of) sleep. DD2 was restless and wouldn't settle anywhere but on me. Very tired now. Letting her snooze on me until 0900 when I must get up.

Happy Birthday @actino! FlowersCake

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 16/01/2018 08:12

Ugh snow. Thwarting my plans for this week!

HashtagTired · 16/01/2018 08:23

Only rain here. But it's clear at the moment and hoping it stays that way because me and ds are about to leave the house for postnatal work out in the park. I'll leave the bit out where I had leftover chocolate pudding for breakfast this morning.

Meepmoop · 16/01/2018 08:46

Sunshine here (for the minute) I think the last time it properly snowed here I was in secondary school. Would love a snow day.

Ended up sleeping on the bed in my dressing gown and slippers this morning as I couldn't be bothered to take them on and off with all the wake ups!

theotherendofthesockportal · 16/01/2018 08:49

DH is in on the plan to not let me sleep. I went to bed early last night and he woke me up to tell me he was bringing DD up, why not just bring her up and put her to bed?

This morning we have a hospital appointment and DH has taken the morning off work to help me. By help he means having a lie in, I've just gone and put DD in his arms and walked off. Now sitting down to eat the breakfast I made myself over an hour ago before I changed and fed DD.

I'm now planning how to kill him.

NinaMarieP · 16/01/2018 09:03

As long as it's slow and painful, theotherend.

We had a good night.

Didn't start well, he fed to sleep then woke up fifteen minutes later and did a poo!

But he was still in his bed before nine and stayed there until 2.40, back in by 3.40 and he slept until 7.05, which is amazing for him when he's with me! He did another restless 50 minutes in my arms after that.

So I forgave him for pooing through everything after his breakfast 😂

theotherendofthesockportal · 16/01/2018 12:32

@NinaMarieP I had a genuine accident and opened the car door on his face. It made him yelp. I smirked. It was a genuine accident and I am probably going straight to Hell for laughing at his misfortune.

Jellybean2017 · 16/01/2018 12:35

I'm ashamed to say I just had to laugh at your last post @theotherendofthesockportal 😂

just attempted to go to a baby massage group. ds fell asleep on the way so I decided to turn around and go home tonmake the most of the quiet time as I would have only been sat in the corner all group with a sleeping baby. been home ten mins and he has woken. gahhhh

anyone else's baby's not sleep anywhere near the average hours for baby's of their age group?? should I be worried?

since 10.15pm yesterday (when I eventually managed to get ds to sleep after trying since 8.30) he has slept a total of about 8 hours.

he had a block of 4 hours on first sleep then was awake from 2.15-4.15 before sleeping again until just after 7am.
since then he has had 3x power naps on the boob for a about 10-15 mins, and about 30 mins in total in car.

if he manages to stay asleep in the car seat he can go for a couple of hours nap but other than that will only power nap so now that he has woken suspect we will only clock up another hour or so in broken naps before bedtime tonight. bringing the grand total for the 24 hour period to less than 10 hours. this is a pretty average day. on a good day i guess that total would be nearer to 12-13 hours. should I be concerned?

Ven83 · 16/01/2018 13:56

@sleepycat13 I also have a sleep thief who's never slept enough according to 'expert charts'. I used to get super stressed about it, thinking it must be damaging his cognitive development and whatnot... but stressing isn't helping in any way. Baby's are all individual after all, just like adults. Some adults are ok with 6 hours of sleep, some need 9 or more. Sarah Ockwell-Smith has some reassuring thoughts on catnapping: sarahockwell-smith.com/tag/short-baby-naps/ and baby sleep in general - her books are worth checking out. If the baby's happy and you're happy, I don't see the point of creating a problem where there isn't any. As long as you're giving him plenty of opportunities to sleep, the rest is really up to him.

UtterlyConfused111 · 16/01/2018 14:34

@attheendofthesockportal
I too have to admit I laughed out loud... I couldn’t help it...

AMagdalena · 16/01/2018 14:55

@sleepycat13 I think you will find this thread is full of sleep thieves Grin

DD is on a poo rampage today 😑 They're looking a lot better, just very frequent and she's very happy today. Praying she's not back to pooing after every feed 😭

sleepycat13 · 16/01/2018 15:09

@Ven83 thank you. will take a look

Nicellen · 16/01/2018 19:50

Hope everyone's night is ok x

xxrealistmumxx · 16/01/2018 20:00

attheendofthesockportal that really made me laugh too!

sleepycat DS1 was like this as a baby. He's nearly 10 now and has never needed a lot of sleep but at least it doesn't affect us anymore. I keep joking that we should leave him in charge of LO in the wee hours!

LO been really unhappy, clingy, crying for most of the afternoon. Has just gone to bed but my spidy-senses tell me I'm in for a night of it

Meepmoop · 16/01/2018 20:12

We're behind on bedtime today. DS decided to fall asleep and then have a half an hour feed. Just getting ready to put him in the bath

AMagdalena · 16/01/2018 20:28

We're already co-sleeping. I feeling a little under the weather, so don't have the energy to keep getting ouy of bed to deal with a million wake ups before I give in
Have a good night, everyone.

Jellybean2017 · 16/01/2018 20:32

DS has been sicky today. He's fallen asleep on the boob so I'm just waiting a bit before I lay him down. I'm tired so I'm not even going to try the cot, straight to co sleeping like AMagdalena!

Good luck all. Hoping I won't be back for a few hours...

theotherendofthesockportal · 16/01/2018 20:38

I'm glad I've given you all a giggle @sleepycat13 DD doesn't sleep as much as the charts/ professionals say she should. Babies don't seem to read these guidelines.

DD has slept more than usual today which make me fearful of what tonight will be like.

Meepmoop · 16/01/2018 20:52

Bath time and feed complete. DS is now lovingly looking at me and smiling. It's lovely but it's not sleeping

Jellybean2017 · 16/01/2018 20:58

@sleepycat13 DS doesn't sleep the recommended amount either.

Next door neighbours being noisy and woke DS 🙈

Snüzpod transfer number 27,672,485. Looking successful. Minimal movement and steady breathing still present. No signs of leg thrashing yet. Looks settled. I think this is the one.
