Had a night of not even looking at my phone during wakings last night, partially trying to not wake myself too much and partially because I had no energy to lift it! Does anyone else find winding after a feed or keeping the baby upright for whatever reason absolutely shattering? I really struggle with it and DS2 needs a good ten minutes after each feed and often an hour or so due to cough/cold/wind etc. I'm so worried I'll fall asleep and drop him.
DS1 went off to sleep quickly tonight, DS2 however was tricky and has already woken for a feed. His cough is really bad tonight. So I reckon lots of feeds for DS2 and an early start with DS1. My stomach is on the mend but I'm still shattered and we've got MIL's dog staying so I'm trying to stay up sleep on the sofa as long as possible with her to stop her getting upset by the fireworks.
Those of you saying on the previous thread that motherhood isn't what you imagined, it does get easier but I do think the first especially is such a shock to the system and no one really tells you how bad sleep deprivation can be. That said, now I have DS2, even with less sleep and less downtime due to DS1, I am really enjoying it, I am much more relaxed and confident as hashtag said too. Doesn't stop the mum guilt for not enjoying DS1 as much though! But for the first timers, don't let it put you off - I had basically said I'd write off the first 4 months with DS2 as it would be awful and now it's almost gone - far too fast!
Also agree on the sleeping style nursing bras, I'd never wear anything else if I didn't have to for certain clothes. So comfortable.
Also agree on yoga - my physio actively encouraged it during a tricky pregnancy and postnatally.
Man, I'm rambling, I'm on my own as DH has gone to a party, but he'll be back by midnight, I didn't say he needed to be but I'm glad he will be. You people partying are hardcore - we did ours earlier. Happy New Year - I hope you all get to sleep through it
