@HashtagTired DD1 had a tendency to fall asleep on her playmat, as if she was making a point about not being put down to nap in her cot (which she would never do!).

DD2 is now regularly falling asleep at 9 and staying asleep until about 11, whilst OH and I watch TV. Going to attempt to formulate a routine next week. Watch us crash and burn!

Feed 1here we are.. had an hour’s sleep from 10.50-11.50pm, to good to be true to think he’d do what he did last night but never mind the night is young so hopefully we’ll be getting some decent sleep. He’s just screamed the house down when having his nappy changed, his little eyes get so red from crying that I feel so bad about it but it obviously has to be done I just hope grows out of it...
I took him to my friends house this afternoon (well yesterday really), he’d normally sleep on the bus but didn’t and complained when the driver took too long at the bus stops 🤣🙉🙉🙈 he fell asleep just as we got to my friend’s house so we had a nice chat over coffee without interruption which was nice, ds didn’t wake until I got back home (went to a couple of shops before getting back on the bus home) and it kind of felt like I’d had a bit of me time without him just because he’d been asleep which was really nice as I haven’t left him at all since he was born and he’s 8 weeks on Monday. When we got home and he woke up ready for a feed I felt refreshed and couldn’t wait to have a cuddle with my little chubby cheeks😍
He’s just pulled off so it’s time to put him down for a sleep again. See you later peeps.

Feed number 1 here. So far we're doing okay. DS has done a couple hours and DH has managed to get him to settle back to sleep without me having to feed him which is a bonus.
I've managed a few hours to. We're swapping over so I'll get up for the rest of the night. Here's hoping he sleeps some more.

I've been trying to follow the sleep charts and was getting quite anxious about getting him to sleep in the day. Glad to read that it's not the end of the world if he doesn't follow it

Meepmoop · 07/01/2018 03:12

And feed number 2, managed another half hour

HashtagTired · 07/01/2018 04:16

@Sakura03 it's great when we have days like that and everything seems to fall into place. It's days like that I feel so in control as a parent and feel like I'm totally all over it. Glad you got some me time.

HashtagTired · 07/01/2018 04:18

Feed #1 at 1:30.
Feed #2 and 3:45.

I just put him down and realised I forgot to do his 3am nappy change. He's restless now so I'm going to change him, re-feed and put him down. It's dangerously close to 5am which means he'll probably only nap now.

HashtagTired · 07/01/2018 04:26

Changed. Re-feeding but he seems wide awake to me! No signs of droopy eyes 😬

Meepmoop · 07/01/2018 04:37

You can join me Hashtagtired. I haven't made it back to bed yet after the 3 o'clock feed. He's gone back to crying if I put him down. We're now squished up on a chair in his nursery. At least there's no chance of me falling asleep

Sakura03 · 07/01/2018 04:39

Got 3 hours and 15 minutes sleep now doing feed #2 and ds keeps coming off and then reattaching himself and hitting my boob..he gets every so stroppy when I touch him to help with the latch...for a 7 week old baby he’s quite strong (can you tell I’m impressed even though the situation frustrates me) this doesn’t normally happen this time of the day when boobs are nice and full, but again we have latching issues so could be why.
Thanks @HashtagTired yeah it’s great as I’ve had plenty of rough days and more to come I’m sure so got to make the most of it😊

DotCottonIsMyIdol · 07/01/2018 05:14

Not much sleep going on here! Last couple of nights have been really rubbish, Friday night was so bad I couldn't even post here as poor DH just screamed with colic from 8pm to 3.30am. I'd had no sleep Thursday night so it nearly finished me off. I feel incredibly guilty but I ended up co-sleeping in the end as I was so exhausted I was worried I'd drop DS. He did sleep a bit and managed two lots of a couple of hours each, I just slept really lightly. Think it's buggered everything up for tonight though as he slept so much through the day today.

So far tonight DS slept one downstairs in between little feeds to about 11pm, I left him with DH to give him an expressed bottle but it didn't go well....he did have all his bottle but wouldn't settle so DH handed him to me at midnight for another feed. Took me a long time to settle and transfer to the next to me. Ended up with DS sucking my finger to settle him and eventually got 1.5hr sleep. Woke at 3.4am and changed his nappy but he screamed blue murder as desparate to feed. Had a short feed at 4am and he's been asleep on me since. I need to try to transfer but I know he'll wake!

Just had a look at those sleep charts and DS is no way near getting enough sleep, he's 4 weeks old and has spent hours awake over the last few days, I feel horrid for him as he must be exhausted and has no routine at all. Feeling really rubbish about it all right now and know I'll get no help from DH (who's being really vile). At least dscisnt screaming tonight bur I'm a bit lost ascot how to get him back to sleeping during the night not the day.

DotCottonIsMyIdol · 07/01/2018 05:16

(Excuse the typo's, lack of glasses and v tired!)

Catscatsandmorecats · 07/01/2018 05:34

DS1 came into our bed at 4. DS2 has woken wanting a feed twice since because he keeps getting disturbed. On feed 5 or6 of the night now, I've lost count

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 07/01/2018 06:18

Joining the bad night crew! Very little sleep, DD slept from 11 till 2 but I was so wound up I couldn't sleep for ages. Then just under an hour till feed 2 at 4.45 nd since then he's been restless and only napping in short bursts on me. I'm dying for the loo, eyeballs feel like they've been dipped in concrete and I just don't know why he won't bloody sleep!!

Catscatsandmorecats · 07/01/2018 06:33

@whoateallthepercypigs that is such a good description of how my eyeballs feel too.

DS1 and DS2 kept disturbing each other until DS1 had an utter meltdown and I've had to bring him downstairs so DS2 can sleep a bit more, apparently only I will do so DH is getting to stay in bed. It's definitely a jealousy thing DS1 getting in the bed, if I so much as mention not disturbing DS2 he melts into floods of tears. I'd quite like to join him but I'm staying the grown up for now.

It's my birthday so as we left the room DH said we can do presents downstairs. I really couldn't care less, it too close the Christmas and all I want is some sleep. That's unlikely to happen today because with DS1 here the chances of me getting a rest is slim to none and the logistics of taking them both out after one feed and back for the next are nigh on impossible, I wish he'd take a bottle. Need to call the HV about DS1's sleeping, it's really affecting us all badly and his mood/behaviour.

DotCottonIsMyIdol · 07/01/2018 06:38

Still no sleep here. DS managed 5 mins back in his next to me before getting really agitated thrashing about. He's lying down feeding with me again now. Feed no.7 since we came to bed I think.

sleepycat13 · 07/01/2018 06:44

still awake from the 3.30 feed. clocked up a total of 4 hours. thats just depressing. got up now as ds is just wide awake. dh said he would get up but he has a headache.... Angry

just bought ds a sleepyhead. not sure if he is a bit old to introduce it now (14 weeks) but il try anything. clearly hasn't made my difference yet!!

Lallypopstick · 07/01/2018 07:48

My fingers are crossed but we’ve had a few good nights in a row with a longer stretch (4-5 hours) until first wake up, then one or two other wake ups from there. For the first wake up last night I let my partner settle him back to sleep without a feed so I know now he can go 7+ hours in the night without a feed. That’s helpful to know that he isn’t starving.

Sleepycat13 we introduced our sleepyhead for night sleeps at about 14 weeks. Before then he’d been in the cocoonababy. He took to it well, and I think we’ll keep it when we transition him to his own cot. It didn’t make a massive difference for sleep but it made him nicely portable meaning I could side feed him and then lift him into the sleepyhead.

Lallypopstick · 07/01/2018 07:49

Happy birthday Catscatsandmorecats - hope you get some sleep.

Meepmoop · 07/01/2018 07:59

We've had an explosion! I managed to get DS back in the cot for another hour and he just woke up. Walked in could smell it straight away and it's gone through everything. Guess that's what he thinks of his new bed.

Having DS in his own room hasn't been too bad. He's had the same amount of wake ups. The difference is I'm less tempted to give up and co sleep. I also don't get up at the first sound of him waking up. At one point he was asleep but really thrashing about, usually I would just pick him up but I left him and stopped. I was staring at the monitor though.

I'm also more awake when I go to him which is better as I've had a few instances where I've fallen asleep with him on me.

We'll see what tonight brings..

Meepmoop · 07/01/2018 08:00

Happy Birthday @Catscatsandmorecats!

MsBranwen · 07/01/2018 08:04

Morning all, hoping I might join you for some support in having a non sleepy baby. Ds is 9 weeks old and sleeps beautifully on me or in the sling, though has recently started getting over tired a lot and really screams if he’s awake more than an hour but v hard to get him to stop playing and settle. Nights are also a real struggle, I express and she gives him a bottle and puts him to bed about 11ish so I can get a bit of sleep. He then usually stays asleep for 2-3 hours but then so hard to settle him again.

I wouldn’t mind so much if he was waking up to feed, but it seems he just hates his bed! It does seem really uncomfortable but I’m so so concerned with safe sleeping that there’s no way of making it comfier.

He has been v happily asleep on me for the past hour!

HashtagTired · 07/01/2018 09:25

HAPPY BIRTHDAY @Catscatsandmorecats
Sleep would be the best present of all!!

Poo update 💩 (just because)
Ds did a poo this morning that looked more like what I think it should look like. Less watery and more substance 🙈

He slept longer than 1 hour intervals last night too. Hope we've reached rock bottom of this leap and we're on our way back up 🤞🤞🤞

HashtagTired · 07/01/2018 09:26

Welcome @MsBranwen to the club that no one wants to be a member of. Hope for your sake it's a short stay!

Sakura03 · 07/01/2018 09:35

Happy birthday @Catscatsandmorecats hope you get some sleep.
@Meepmoop I sympathise we had 2 explosion and both times full change of clothes, the first I think I could have avoided as it happened when I changed ds and first we had an impressive fountain going and suddenly the explosion happened... if I had paid close attention to ds' body language I should have known something was up. The 2 happened when we got up and was halfway through a feed... his poos have been quite runny these last couple of days but maybe we also need to look into some better nappies or go a size up, we've still got 2 1/2 jumbo packs of newborn pampers in the cupboard....
Enjoy your Sunday everyone

Never did I think I would talk so much about 💩 but it's now become a very important subject in our household😁
