Mumsnet TV show starring Mumsnetters ready to view. Please tell us what you think...

You may remember at the end of 2009 we asked for volunteers to be filmed having the Mumsnet hair cut and take part in a Mumsnet TV makeover etc. Well the final cut of the first Mumsnet e-TV magazine show is now up and ready to view (and before we go any further there's definitely a starring role/Mumsnet book/our undying gratitude for anyone who can think up a snappier title for the show. Anything other than Mumsnet Magazine TV show would be an improvement).

Made for Mumsnetters and starring - who else - Mumsnetters, the current plan is that this will be a regular show bringing you all the MN staples - AIBU, beauty tips, MN makeovers, sleb interviews, some political stuff - the works.

This episode is a trial run to see what works (and what doesn't). We already have an idea of what doesn't work (mostly any time MNHQ get involved/appear ) but we think you'll agree that the Mumsnetters are great - absolutely star material.

You can find the show in the MNTV slot on the right hand side of the page on Chat, AIBU, Site Stuff, webchats, Telly addicts, competitions and active conversations. Please take a minute (or seven) to have a look and then tell us what you think of it. All suggestions and feedback welcome (but do be gentle with us...). Oh and don't forget a name for the show.

Thanks and enjoy,

MNHQ

It was peculiar. I can't think anyone outside of MN would be interested because it is so dependent on inside jokes and the interes of putting names to faces.

Specifically: Fashion: Do you hate those two MNers?

AIBU: sounds like a raving loon.

Beauty: all right, bit nothing.

Celeb: Ok. At least a bit of a rapport seemed to be started. Bit pointless.

Haircut: perhaps not.

Over all it doesn't seem to have any point. And it is quite embarrassing and will confirm all those "biscuit" and Matthew Wright type views of MN.

Cross-posts!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2010 17:45

You didnt want a weather girl then?

mamazon · 18/01/2010 17:45

it came across as just what it was ( i think) a pilot, or a clip of an upcoming full length show.

it doesnt work as it is because it is just brief clips and not enough to hold your interest.

MollyRoger · 18/01/2010 17:46

''fashion: do you hate those two mumsnetters?''

guffaws@Hully

JustAnotherManicMummy · 18/01/2010 17:46

The AIBU went on a bit... repeated the same thing about 6 times Agree with those who say needs more people.

Fashion bit? You need some MNetters to do the makeovers on other MNetters. And in Harvey Nicks with their personal shoppers helping . Shooting those lovely ladies on the stairs OMG the angle was awful. No one looks good being shot from feet up. Who was filming? The pap who tries to get the knicker shot as slebs get out the car?

Liked the eyelash curler tip. That was quite funny watching the girls nearly mutilate themselves but not quite

And finally, but most importantly, Michelle get a flippin' hair brush and use it before you tie your hair up. I hope MN towers has paid for that to be fixed

Otherwise I really liked it!

JustAnotherManicMummy · 18/01/2010 17:48

{grin] Hully at hating the fashion MNetters!

Further thoughts (because i know how much you value them): The success of MN really is about the fast cut and thrust of debate and the wit, as well as the sympathy and help offered when needed. A question time type affair would be much more interesting, a panel of a few Mners (changeable each time) debating issues raised by the audience and then having a great big fight.

Or some mud wrestling. But PLEASE not hair and beauty shite.

WeWantYourDoofDoofs · 18/01/2010 18:00

I agree that it needs to be more "Loose Women"-esque and less "GMTV". Important things discussed along with the frothy stuff.

I liked the all friends together kind of feel of it, would help dispell the nest of vipers stigma

Lovely to put faces to names though, but who was Michelle?

WeWantYourDoofDoofs · 18/01/2010 18:01

Oh and MumsnetTV sounds just fine to me for what it's for

BitOfFun · 18/01/2010 18:07

I thinjk the Loose Women/Wright Stuff format would be MUCH better. I can also see a good way of doing AIBU: Do a little film with narration of the OP, cut to the panel piling in, then back to the film from a slightly different POV with more information, carry on, repeat...there you go, AIBU by stealth!

mamazon · 18/01/2010 18:09

I dont think Michelle wanted to be linked to her posting name which is why she is MIchelle rather than "longhairlady" or whatever.

and given some of the rather unkind comments so far re her hair i doubt she'll be changing her mind too soon

MollyRoger · 18/01/2010 18:10

you need a judge with a gavel for AIBU
You could call her Judge Flounce

BitOfFun · 18/01/2010 18:11

And can we do a little Style And Beauty feature following MNers going round their towns critiquing people's outfits? I especially look forward to the Parisian one which could have Bonsoir skipping around being withering...

WeWantYourDoofDoofs · 18/01/2010 18:11

@ AIBU stealth

mamazon, I wish I had hair like Michelle's I think it is lovely, and she was very natural in front of the cameras, in fact all of you were (although I too though when you screeched OMG! that you'd burnt your eyelid/eyelashes off )and was a tad disappointed

mamazon · 18/01/2010 18:12

the panel of MNers could all meet at HQ, a desk and some decent lighting and voila. cant be too much more of an expense can it

I just think it would show more of what MN really is tbh.

it would be good to see a mix of MNers giving their thoughts on various subjects...especially the more vocal posters, i wonder if they really are that forthright when sat directly opposite someone with differing views

mamazon · 18/01/2010 18:13

sorry to disappoint

but the heated curlers really did make a dramatic difference. I always heat them up now!

WeWantYourDoofDoofs · 18/01/2010 18:13

Now see I liked the fact it was shot in someone's house.

Hullygully · 18/01/2010 18:15

-the panel of MNers could all meet at HQ, a desk and some decent lighting and voila-

Iread that as lighting and vodka. Now you're talking, I thought.

BitOfFun · 18/01/2010 18:17

I like the roaming town Questiontime approach too- mumsnet comes to you sort of thing.

Hullygully · 18/01/2010 18:18

With vodka.

BitOfFun · 18/01/2010 18:19

And an audience would be great for AIBU especially...a baying mob, Springer-style

WeWantYourDoofDoofs · 18/01/2010 18:19

agree BOF, a travelling soapbox.

agree Hully too, especially if they came to my town

TheFoosa · 18/01/2010 18:21

Royalty/Reality you are NOTHING like I imagined
