The MN Mail Column - what we think, and what we plan to do next... part 3

carriemumsnet · 25/08/2009 23:27

Part 1 and Part 2 have reached capacity but at least one poster - you know who you are bibbitybobbityhat - was wanting to continue chatting so we thought we'd start another thread so you can continue to tell us your thoughts on the matter.

It may be tomorrow though before we respond -some of us at MN towers a tad worn out after a hectic, but very enjoyable eve, watching Angelina Ballerina ballet in Holland Park with a few of the MNHQ dds - highly recommended (the ballet, that is, not the dds.... though actually they weren't too bad either).

Night all

I was going to dereg and then MP cunningly quoted me in the MN roundup for the first time ever - and in connection with 1) zombies and 2) Anne Boleyn so my life was complete. So I am sucked in for life in gratitude.

morningpaper · 31/08/2009 09:21

bawahahaha

FioFioFio · 31/08/2009 15:18

i have logged in after being dead for weeks and cannot believe this is still going

does anyone have a simple explanation of anything else that happened since i was last awake?

ZephirineDrouhin · 31/08/2009 16:05

It isn't really still going - it just looks like it because it's stickied.

Summary of events:
Column appears late at night on subject of "hellidays" with children. Everyone says "this is rubbish" etc. Some people observe that the content is largely old posts from an old but recently bumped thread. Some speculation and mild outrage ensues. Column disappears from online Mail and further speculation ensues as well as some disappointment from posters who wanted to leave DM style comments. MN says "we know nothing but the Mail says the internet has run out of space" (or something), provoking some excellent comedy from Swedes and Morningpaper. Think that's about it.

FioFioFio · 31/08/2009 16:11

a normal day of events then

did no-one mention private school or sahms?

TheEgoHasLanded · 31/08/2009 16:14

nothing has changed...the DM remains the only newspaper to tell it like it is....that seems to annoy people.

FioFioFio · 31/08/2009 16:40

not a fan of the daily express?

TheEgoHasLanded · 31/08/2009 16:49

the DM is all i need.

MrsEricBanaMT · 31/08/2009 17:39

it does good gossip though

TheEgoHasLanded · 31/08/2009 17:54

it has the guts to talk about immigration.

paisleyleaf · 31/08/2009 17:54

No point even playing guess the thread this week
as it's turned out to not be from the current week.

Yes, I agree with you Ego. It stops the facists from having the monopoly on the issue. And serves an enormous public service in doing that. I think most people have no idea about that, they are too busy disagreeing. But they have a right to disagree with The Mail, they have a right of reply. Its an essential element of a healthy democracy to have something like The Mail playing devils advocate. There is no right of reply with the facists.

TheEgoHasLanded · 31/08/2009 21:11

deffo...people disagree with the DM without really knowing what they're disagreeing with.

eekamoose · 31/08/2009 22:04

Actually, my new area of interest is the strange bumping.

Seeing as how LH, moldies and BA are all inter-connected and all.

Wonder how long this post will stay up without being deleted?

beanieb · 31/08/2009 23:01

what's BA?

and what's her connction to Moldies?

eekamoose · 31/08/2009 23:05

Badgers Arse.

Am off to bed now. Don't expect this will still be here in the morning.

oopsagainandagain · 31/08/2009 23:07

BA is an old time poster who has had to name change for reasons of personal security.

I think eekamouse is barking up the wrong tree tbh.,
I can't imagine BA bumping threads as a favour nfor LH...
I'm sure Lh can do that herself if neccesary.

I can imagine BA bumping threads for a laugh, though

much more likely

And not sure hwat the moldie link is,, unless the moldies have been infiltrated by the DM..

beanieb · 31/08/2009 23:10

AH. am non the wiser!

beanieb · 31/08/2009 23:11

hough it wasn't actually BA who did the bumping I saw anyway.

oopsagainandagain · 31/08/2009 23:12
FioFioFio · 01/09/2009 11:19

leah hardy and badgers arse are not moldies

moldies have nothing to do with the daily mail stuff. Sorry to piss on your parade

beanieb · 01/09/2009 13:48

[SHOCK]
