The MN Mail Column - what we think, and what we plan to do next... part 3

carriemumsnet · 25/08/2009 23:27

Part 1 and Part 2 have reached capacity but at least one poster - you know who you are bibbitybobbityhat - was wanting to continue chatting so we thought we'd start another thread so you can continue to tell us your thoughts on the matter.

It may be tomorrow though before we respond -some of us at MN towers a tad worn out after a hectic, but very enjoyable eve, watching Angelina Ballerina ballet in Holland Park with a few of the MNHQ dds - highly recommended (the ballet, that is, not the dds.... though actually they weren't too bad either).

Night all

Yes I am advertising to passing pilots

yum yum

MrsEricBanaMT · 27/08/2009 12:43

lol

FabBakerGirlIsBack · 27/08/2009 16:08

This weeks column is rubbish.

Wouldn't make me want to join MN.

The DM is really annoying me or rather LH is.

PaulDacresCrackWhore · 27/08/2009 17:07

So come on MNHQ - any word on why today's column was pulled?

IUsedToBePeachy · 27/08/2009 17:29

God I hope its not LH been bumping- one of the bumped threads was a bit upsetting for DM use

Though I do think they will stick to their no SN and no relationships promise

If they don't I will go and protrest naked outside thir office

And they REALLY dont want that

2shoes · 27/08/2009 17:41

have you notice that thread in AIBU that has suddenly come back to life, it has been dead since april, concerns sn

Blu · 27/08/2009 17:46

LOL at bumping conspiracy theories!

I am pretty sure that BadgersArse is neither LH nor a 'crony' of LH's, * and that there is plenty to write about in any one week on MN without reviving non-controversial threads.

Is this all getting a bit overthought and overwrought?

  • because BadgersArse is also v recognisable, as someone completely different.
Blu · 27/08/2009 17:48

Old threads have ALWAYS been randomly rescuscitated on and off on MN. Maybe people search topics and then post on the threads. It's happened loads of times that a great hoo ha will be going on (or even a mundane chat) and then someone will say 'hang on this is an old thread').

IUsedToBePeachy · 27/08/2009 17:54

I do share worries over the AIBU thread- that one is a particualr fear for me.

ZephirineDrouhin · 27/08/2009 18:06

Blu, have you seen the thread that BadgersArse resuscitated? Being recognisable hardly precludes her from being a "crony" of LH's (indeed I believe she has expressed her fondness for her on here recently). If she didn't do it to help out LH, god knows why she did do it.

I have indeed, and been back to check, too.

Now, (libellous allegation alledgedly coming up, ) I could imagine certain norty posters bumping old threads just to see if bait was taken and threads used in the press, but BA and LH in backstage plotting? nah.

GreensleevesFlouncedLikeAKnob · 27/08/2009 18:23

BadgersArse is not LH

she is somebody else v well known

and what is all this "crony" crap?

LH as a MNer was very kind to me, very supportive and helpful and gave very intelligent advice

that doesn't just evaporate because something else has happened

ZephirineDrouhin · 27/08/2009 18:26

Blu, I would agree with you that this would be a more likely explanation, except that I can't see what could possibly her motive in reviving such an utterly dreary thread to go in the DM. Why?

And why has the column been pulled?

pofacedandproud · 27/08/2009 18:27

I was immensely fond of LH when she posted here. I wouldn't push Badger's Arse out of bed either. I think Badger's arse hopefully would only bump very benign threads [someone mentioned importing cheddar?]for various reasons. It is all a bit odd really.

ZephirineDrouhin · 27/08/2009 18:27

(the "why has the column been pulled" was meant for MNHQ - I wasn't suggesting that you should know the answer to that one blu)

ZephirineDrouhin · 27/08/2009 18:29

Well it certainly was benign, pofaced, so no fears on that score. But why?

pofacedandproud · 27/08/2009 18:35

God works in mysterious ways Zeph.

I don't know really. I was hoping LH was sticking to mundane threads too [hence ham sandwiches etc] but i know the first thread quoted upset TD understandably, and perhaps LH has steered away from anything potentially upsetting since then, even if it might lose her the column? Just wondering.

Blu · 27/08/2009 18:35

Greensleeves: I am immensely fond of both BA and LH, and I think that the bumping business is groundless conspiracy theory!

And I have no explanation for any bumping of ancient threads whenever it happens. People have a variety of reasons. Occasionally, I think, old threads have descended en masse into active convos as a result of some Tech-ery, too, when things have gone a bit awry.

I was being tongue in cheek about norty thread bumping.

bibbitybobbityhat · 27/08/2009 18:38

Gah, I hate all this. Feeling like a pawn in someone else's game. The talking in code ... The not knowing is humiliating. The message deleting is ridiculous.

Its not what I'm looking for in a chat forum.

Blu · 27/08/2009 18:56

I might start bumping old threads with particularly sparkling contributions by me.

And then approach the DM directly.

But I'll have to that little plan Top Secret, of course!

Bobbity - yes, you're right, it's not conducive.

I'm stopping it now, and getting back to other discussions.

LOL

IUsedToBePeachy · 27/08/2009 20:04

I deleted a few messages today, i've only eer done it twice in 8 years, first time I was told I may have offended DP (which when you think about is quite er, unusual) and today because I had posted on a bumped up thread which I realised wasn't in SN but was about ASD's and in the past I ahd posted some quite private info on that I woudln't have normally shared outside that area; risk management and all that.
