Mumsnet Books - can we get your opinion on colours please?

Hello all,
As you probably know we've got a series of Mumsnet books coming out from next spring based on your collective wisdom. It's fair to say that there is a certain amount of disagreement amongst those involved as to which cover colours look best.

So we thought we'd ask you which you'd prefer, given that Mumsnetters are squarely in the target audience and all that. (We've promised not to tell you what we at HQ like by the way but suffice to say we're very much keener on one of sets than the other so you better get it right )

Basically there are 2 options for each of the four book covers - a more subtle and muted version, and a more vibrant and bolder version. You can see them here.

We'd be very grateful if you would let us know on this thread which of the options - subtle or bold - you'd prefer on your coffee table/ would be more likely to fork out for. If there's no clear consensus then we'll have a poll. Oh the excitement.

Many thanks,
MNHQ

dullsville
if there is one thing MN is NOT it is subtle

It just goes to show, democracy really does stink....

You would have sold twice as many with a bright cover - matching the bright colours of your website.

Oh well, what does a thing like branding matter, eh?

Habbibu · 19/06/2008 19:49

The website doesn't have bright colours, PM - are you confusing it with netmums, perchance?

The deep pink is too girly.

The red spells danger.

The blue and the aqua suggest boys to me.

The aubergine and the purple are fine.

But the greens would make me think it was a book about raising organic toddlers.

I have not re-read this, so it quite literally is a brain dump.

SoupDragon · 19/06/2008 20:02

Subtle, definitely.

PuppyMonkey · 19/06/2008 20:09

Habbibu - not confusing it with Netmums thank you. I see bright aquas all over the home page

Habbibu · 19/06/2008 20:12

Do you? Honestly, PM, it's all really subtle colours on my screen (and the netmums thing was just a joke)

claricebeansmum · 19/06/2008 20:15

Sorry but just to add in - why oh why did you put "net" in white? It is most distracting to the eye and what your eye goes to first. I guess there has been a graphic designer at work...could you have perhaps found a duller font?

Don't make jokes about such things!!!

It's all nice and bright on mine - or is that just my computer? The yype is all bright too. Bright stands out. Subtle is soooooo last year....

Dunno why I'm so bothered anyway - I never have time to read. Too much MN-ing to do.

ButterflyMcQueen · 19/06/2008 22:32

subtle

nappyaddict · 19/06/2008 22:34

oh and i think the mumsnet guide should be in grey and white like on the website. not that anyone cares what i think is the mn logo going to be on there anywhere? what's the picture of at the bottom of the spine?

suwoo · 19/06/2008 22:35

Subtle, if my opinion is not WAY too late.
