Mumsnet Books - can we get your opinion on colours please?

Hello all,
As you probably know we've got a series of Mumsnet books coming out from next spring based on your collective wisdom. It's fair to say that there is a certain amount of disagreement amongst those involved as to which cover colours look best.

So we thought we'd ask you which you'd prefer, given that Mumsnetters are squarely in the target audience and all that. (We've promised not to tell you what we at HQ like by the way but suffice to say we're very much keener on one of sets than the other so you better get it right )

Basically there are 2 options for each of the four book covers - a more subtle and muted version, and a more vibrant and bolder version. You can see them here.

We'd be very grateful if you would let us know on this thread which of the options - subtle or bold - you'd prefer on your coffee table/ would be more likely to fork out for. If there's no clear consensus then we'll have a poll. Oh the excitement.

Many thanks,
MNHQ

I can't decide. I've suspected for a while that I no longer have any clear opinions on anything and this has confirmed it.

PippiCalzelunghe · 19/06/2008 14:30

subtle without a doubt.

TheUnsinkableMB · 19/06/2008 14:33

Subtle!

Just wished I'd said something witty and hilarious then I might have stood the chance of being in one!

Tortington · 19/06/2008 14:38

i think shades of gray and brown

Posey · 19/06/2008 14:45

subtle

missorinoco · 19/06/2008 14:45

subtle

Washersaurus · 19/06/2008 14:46

I like the subtle ones

bobblehat · 19/06/2008 14:58

When I first looked at them I wasn't sure. I've been doing other things and then coming back to them.

I love the colours on the subtle ones, but it does make them look like the type of books which are all style and no substance. Although I don't really like the bright colours, on books like these I would think common sense advice.

Is there a third option

marymungoandmidge · 19/06/2008 15:03

Sorry to be picky but it was quite difficult to judge by the way it was laid out...however, I personally prefer the subtler theme as I felt the brighter colours looked a little brash...

marymungoandmidge · 19/06/2008 15:05

Interestingly and quite conversely to bobble hat I thought the subtle colours represented quietly authoritative advice !

Bright.

PuppyMonkey · 19/06/2008 15:13

Dull shades of grey and brown do not sum up MN!

Bright, bright, bright, bright... ok I give up

NormaStanleyFletcher · 19/06/2008 15:22

Subtle ones for me (though the green is horrid)

RustyBear · 19/06/2008 15:22

I like the bright pink & purple, the subtle blue & neither of the greens.

But as my youngest child is 18, I suspect my opinion doesn't really matter at the moment.

flowerybeanbag · 19/06/2008 15:24

subtle, looks classy, especially with the b&w photos

welshlinz · 19/06/2008 15:26

bright !! if you walked past the books in a shop, they make you look at them with their vibrant colours. Subtle are nice also but like the eye catching colours of the bright set

UberTrollop · 19/06/2008 15:28

Subtle looks nice and calming

zippitippitoes · 19/06/2008 15:30

WeeBesom · 19/06/2008 16:00

Vibrant

ManhattanMama · 19/06/2008 16:04

Definitely subtle. Mumsnet may not be boring and grey, but it's certainly subtle compared to every other parenting site I've seen (ie no blinkies, photos).

It's Farrow & Ball vs Crayola. Depends which you're after!
