mumsnet keeps freezing

Is anyone else having this problem.

For the past 3 days when I go to mumsnet and for instance start by looking at notifications, everything is fine.

Then when I see that a thread has quite few new posts so i think I will go and have a look, links are not longer clickable, and then I get a message saying web site is slowing down my browser.

This is not happening on any other web site I visit.

Is anyone else having this problem.

This has been an issue for me when I used safari as it started to slow down the browser even when I was on other sites and crash safari. It initially improved when I cleared cookies but after awhile I was clearing cookies after almost every use. I switched to chrome and it generally much better but does slow down ever now and again.

It’s the excessive adverts. Too much running on one page. So many complaints but obviously the money is more important than user experience.

I use chrome --- it has been freezing for me for the past few days

It’s almost got to the point where I’m about to give up. It’s worse on my phone than my iPad but it’s not great on that either. Worse since IOS update on my phone.

I get it on my iPhone running Chrome. I thought it was my phone! It doesn't happen with other sites.

I think this is the main point.

It doesn't happen on other web sites.

At first I spent ages clearing this that and the other, but realised it only happens on MN.

And if this was first reported some months ago, why is it still happening?

I experience this when the adverts change, particularly the adverts that take over half your screen and cover half of the thread.

This happens on my laptop and my phone - logged in on laptop, not logged in on phone. Both different browsers.

It's been spectacularly bad the past couple of days.

There is a thread running in site stuff which was stated in November 2025 and the issues have been going on long before then, all we get is the occasional message of them “running tests” honestly it’s beyond ridiculous now you would think they are having to figure out quantum physics rather than get their website to run properly.

Is anyone else experiencing when you click to go onto the next page of a thread it reloads & you go back onto the page you’ve already read or if you click onto a thread in trending it also reloads sends you back to the thread you had finished reading what more fresh hell is this.

Yes but to be fair my phone has been rubbish since the IOS 26 updates. I do each one thinking will improve but no still rubbish.

Really, really bad today.

Was going to have a coffee and spend an hour catching up on threads.

Totally pointless.

It's still happening tnis morning. It's really slow, then stops completly and freezes.
As pointed out, this is only on MN, so no matter how many times we clear this, that or the other, it still happens!!

After posting, I can't navigate to another page of the site.

I have the option of 'wait' or 'close page' and they are freezing as well when I choose!

Yes, same for me. So glitchy.

Still happening! Getting very annoying now as MN is totally unusable and this isn't being dealt with.

Yes, I've been having the same issue for months now. Firefox. Very frustrating, I rarely read it on my laptop now as it just freezes everything.

It just happened for me on the Judith and Philip thread but I have, eventually, managed to read all the OPs posts, so I can now get off the freezer that is MN and go about my day.

It's their advertising. It's been going on for absolutely ages and they're not interested in doing anything about it because it makes money.

This site eats my limited data allowance (2gb a week) on my phone so badly that I can't use it. I don't have that problem with any other site, including another forum.

I use a tablet with Chrome and it freezes repeatedly when trying to load an advert that takes up a whole screen. I shut the tab and open a new one. It's infuriating.

I reported a problem at the beginning of February where every thread that I’ve bookmarked opens right at the bottom of the page, not at the bookmarked post, and it jumps to the bottom if I post.
It is still happening despite getting a response from site staff saying it would be looked at.

I use the DuckDuckGo browser which automatically blocks all the adverts

Still bad today. And the other thing is that I cant "escape" from mumsnet.

I have to open a new tab and then close the tab where mumsnet is in spin or whatever is going on.

I find it is SO slow to load this site! I click on it, wait, wait some more, make a cup of tea, open and browse a whole range of other sites, come back, watch this site creaking open…Really putting me off using it - I’m on here so much less than I used to be.

It’s the only site I visit which doesn’t load pretty much instantly.
