Why has MN changed colour?

It's awful! About 10 mins ago I refreshed a page and the blue banners changed to a much brighter shade, and the OP is highlighted in grey instead of green, and I hate it. It's too bright. What's happening??

Galaxy A55, latest version of Chrome.

It can be improved/ameliorated, but still doesn't look as good as the original set-up, for me.

You can, but you can't get the old colours back.

They could have given us the option to revert to the original.

Now we have stereotypical baby pink and blue, coincidentally the trans colours but not green and purple, the suffragette/women's rights colours (with white - strictly Green, White and Violet, standing for Give Women Votes - and we didn't get a vote on this).

I like it!

But…how do I save a thread?

Edited - I’m peach coloured now instead of green 😵‍💫

second edit - changed it in the settings, but it’s very very pale. I liked my proper green.

Edited

Same, I had OP set to be green, but now the colour choices are too pale: green, grey, and white are all too hard to see, so I'm stuck with blue. Shame really, I liked blue for admin, green for OP, pink for me

ifIwerenotanandroid · 18/09/2025 16:03

How did you change it back? Where did you find the old colours - the lilac, the real green?

Go into your account, then into Talk settings and choose green for OP and magenta for your own posts. Click save and carry on as before.

Manchestermummax3 · 18/09/2025 16:06

Only posting to see what colour I am lol

ilovesushi · 18/09/2025 16:06

I like it. I think it is softer on the eye and less corporate looking.

Eww... peach 🍑

ilovesushi · 18/09/2025 16:06

Ooo and my post is pink!

SirHumphreyRocks · 18/09/2025 16:07

Chnaged for me too and it is now a nightmare to read. Too bright and virtually no distinction between posts.

Just going to add this is probably disability discrimination - no way are those colours etc accessible!

ParanoidGynodroid · 18/09/2025 16:07

No need! That blue is certainly not softer on my eyes! Off to settings...

Those aren't the old colours, nothing like them.

ihavebecomecomfortablynumb · 18/09/2025 16:08

It’s bloody awful, very harsh on the eyes and also looks very dated.

gollyimholly · 18/09/2025 16:08

Also hate the brightness - it's horrid.

I usually browse MN on my phone and so I've turned my phone's screen brightness down to counteract the colour change. It does help somewhat, so would recommend if anyone else feels it's too bright.

The green is really pale and the magenta is more like a very bright salmon, nothing like the old green and lilac for me.

Bruisername · 18/09/2025 16:10

Definitely need to give optionality - one option being ‘original’

people go on about computers taking over the world when IT people still can’t have solutions to pretty basic issues

Bruisername · 18/09/2025 16:11

It’s quite infantilising with the ‘my posts’ flag and the colours tbh

UnctuousUnicorns · 18/09/2025 16:11

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 18/09/2025 16:12

Don’t like it!

the blue on blue is harder to read. It almost looks like blurring

Hankunamatata · 18/09/2025 16:12

I like the colours. I have processing issues and used to drive me insane that op posts were same colour as my posts

pizzaHeart · 18/09/2025 16:13

didntlikeanyofthesuggestions · 18/09/2025 15:33

Apparently it only changed for cool people.

where can I request uncool me?

Madformaltesers · 18/09/2025 16:13

Mines bright blue with OP in fluorescent pink/purple
its hurting my eyes to read

I had op posts in a nice green and mine in pink previously.

You could have changed that in settings. We still can now, but the colour options are now rubbish, either really pale or very bright. The previous colours were much better.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 18/09/2025 16:14

The simplest solution is for MN to add the old colours into the settings menus. I mean, MN will never see how each of our screens looks to us, & it won't cost them any more. It's not like someone's charging them more for hosting something with more pigment in it. They can set up the default colours they'd like people to use, but they should also provide the colours people WANT to use.

I just looked at settings. How do I change it?

it offers me default or dark or light. But no colours.
