Why has MN changed colour?

It's awful! About 10 mins ago I refreshed a page and the blue banners changed to a much brighter shade, and the OP is highlighted in grey instead of green, and I hate it. It's too bright. What's happening??

Galaxy A55, latest version of Chrome.

I've only just had it for about 10-15mins and already my eyes are hurting, it's way too bright @MNHQ

Also, the green 'op' colour has gone and now has a label saying 'op' - I cant get on with it @mumsnet

😥Ah yes I see the choices - pastels labelled as strong colours lol. Not a fan I have to say! And the bright blue is feeling too bright, needs toning down please.

But I've had different colours for posts for at least a decade, you had the option right there in your talk settings all along!

Why give us the choice of colours and then just change them -to MUCH MUCH worse colours.

And we don't need an "original poster" banner over their posts-we know it is them by the colour.

What colour is a MN reply?

I've gone all pastel. The OP is mauve, I'm pink and the formerly blue stuff is light purple. If Barbie ever decides to start a website by parents for parents, she'd be inspired.

You could have changed that in your settings, though. 🤷‍♀️

For me, if I go into settings, then talk settings, there is the option to ‘highlight own posts’ with a choice of colours, and ‘highlight posts by thread author’ with a choice of colours.

But none of them are purple like I had for the last 10 years. They're all foul pale shades that don't stand out properly.

I just created a new thread and thought I'd done something wrong! Absolutely awful this.

It seems a pointless change when the advert issue still abounds, the frequent iffy moderation of racism etc.....

I wouldn't have had it as top of the to do list.

Can you explain why having posts in different colours wasn't enough for you to recognise your own posts? Because I was fine with that - no problem at all.

Yes they have somehow managed to make a ‘magenta’ colour which is both pastel but sickeningly bright. Quite an accomplishment really. 🤣

Oh, I totally agree. I was just answering someone who couldn't find the menus. The choice once you've found the menus is inadequate.
