You might notice things are looking a bit different today. We’ve given Mumsnet a colour refresh, based on feedback from you in our surveys (thank you!).

We’ve also moved a couple of things around to reduce clutter and make things easier to find:

  • Watch now sits under the OP post
  • Report has moved into the meatball menu (the three dots on posts)

As ever, we’d love to hear what you think, so please share your feedback below.

Why have the page numbers disappeared when logged on? Was reading a long thread logged off, wanted to comment but when I logged on I had to scroll through for ages to find the post rather than going to page 10 or whatever. Is it just me?

CleanShirt · 18/09/2025 16:46

This colour is awful!!!

Zippedydodah · 18/09/2025 16:47

It’s hideous.
Migraine-inducing.

Lunde · 18/09/2025 16:48

Blue is far to bright against a stark background - giving me headaches and double vision

Not accessible to those of us with vision issues

FenyouGreek · 18/09/2025 16:48

I love the colour blue, but this is too vivid by far. I have real issues with certain types of light - migrainous ones - and I literally cannot look at this new screen for very long. It's disruptive and a little cyber-sicknessy.

Like a pp said, this will stop me spending too long here, and certainly in the evening, which will help my 6 am new wake-up routine! It's really bad. I don't mind change per se, but this is literally making my head swim in a really unpleasant way.

I like it. Can't people turn the brightness down if they are struggling?

I already have my phone on low brightness and with the blue light filter at max. If I adjust the settings even further to suit the new MN look, the rest of the Internet will become totally invisible.

That's a different issue. https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/site_stuff/5314465-please-remove-me-from-the-infinite-scroll-test-group

Why is disability not considered when it would be so easy to do so?
Anyone could Google good colour contrasts for people with visual impairment, but you have not done so. Or worse, maybe you did, but decided to exclude the visually impaired from the site. Not cool.

Furball · 18/09/2025 16:50

Same as many here - Far too bright - Its really hurty on the eyes the contrast of the white / blue

Can it be 'dimmed down' a bit?

LlynTegid · 18/09/2025 16:51

Agree with the concern for migraine sufferers even though I never have had them.

Very surprised you chose blue and white given Mumsnet Towers is in an area which is an Arsenal supporting one.

Hi all,

Thanks so much to everyone who’s taken the time to share feedback on the recent updates, we’re working our way through your comments!

A couple of quick updates:

  • If you’d prefer a different look, you can customise colours under Settings > Talk settings. From there, you can choose how your own posts and threads by author are displayed.
  • We’ll also be adding the Watch button back to the bottom of the page shortly.

Oh yes please do put the 'watch' button back at the bottom, thanks.

Colours are horrendous sorry 🤐

Carrotcake55 · 18/09/2025 16:52

Sourisblanche · 18/09/2025 15:31

Nice colour but it’s a bit bright. Or maybe it’s just my eyes👀

I thought the same! It's really bright even with the lowest brightness on my phone.

GailBlancheViola · 18/09/2025 16:52

It's horrible for all the reasons others have stated.

ReadingSoManyThreads · 18/09/2025 16:52

It's way too bright. My eyes really hurt now.

TeamBuffalo · 18/09/2025 16:52

It's too bright. The Mumsnet demographic is famously broad but I doubt that it includes toddlers.

RNApolymerase · 18/09/2025 16:53

The bright blue is too blue. It is starting to look fuzzy at the edges it's so blue.
It hurtses us.

I've tried that. It still does not offer the options we had before, and no colours suit my eyes in the new options. Can you please add the old colour options back?

NoahDia · 18/09/2025 16:54

Oh dear, it is very bright!

No doubt I'll get used to it eventually.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 18/09/2025 16:55

Might we perhaps be offered the option of the colours that were already available AS WELL AS the painful new ones? That way I suspect everyone would be happy, and you could find out what proportion of your users preferred which by what was chosen, rather than just dumping your entire user-base into a new look for their board with no warning?

I tried that too and it doesn't change the brightness, which I think is the issue for the most people rather than the colours.

Oh my, this will be a good encouragement to spend less time scrolling 😂

I am finding this too, I am starting to squint at it as if I am looking at the sun. As a migraine sufferer I suspect it won't be long before one starts.
