A few updates to Mumsnet 🎨

You might notice things are looking a bit different today. We’ve given Mumsnet a colour refresh, based on feedback from you in our surveys (thank you!).

We’ve also moved a couple of things around to reduce clutter and make things easier to find:

• Watch now sits under the OP post
• Report has moved into the meatball menu (the three dots on posts)

I really don't like the colour scheme, I'm afraid.

Was any consideration given to users with less than perfect vision, @LizzyMumsnet ? I'm in my 70s, very shortsighted, and on an eternal waiting list to have the severe cataract in my left eye dealt with. The new brightness level is too high for comfortable reading and the change from clear vivid post highlighting colours to the new baby pastel ones is unhelpful

I wonder if that's why it hurts my eyes. Thanks for pointing this out.

Even on dark mode it's too bright and hurts my eyes, which makes no sense whatsoever.

Conversely, why is the green highlighting now such an insipid shade of pale grey?

Colour is awful.

I prefer the old colours.

I did post on the other thread about this so hope it’s ok to post here as well. All I’d really like to ask is can you make the colours compatible in dark mode please and can we have the original colours back?

I completely agree with posters saying that these changes show a complete disregard for those - like me - who struggle with screens/reading text.

I am well aware that you don’t care, but if MN had to mess with colours, then at least there should have been an option to keep the original version.

Btw: I have tried adjusting the settings/colours - the site is still unusable for me now.

I don't mind it, but it is very, very bright! I changed the colour of OP's posts back to green but it's now a very pale shade of green which is almost indistinguishable from the rest of the thread - could we have the old green (or at least a darker shade) available please? I don't want to have blue as a default, that's the colour I associate with MNHQ posts.

I'm also not keen on having the 'my post' or 'original poster' headings - I know what I've posted! And I know what the OP posts because they're a different colour. Also, as pointed out by PP there are safety issues around highlighting 'my post' - could this be looked at?

Ever heard the expression "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"? I can see no reason for this change other than to start a bun fight between posters who like it and those that don't

Please can I get a reply to my concerns re people on a domestic abuse or controlling relationship @LizzyMumsnet I am very concerned - not for me but for others.

I agree re. trans colours. I honestly thought MN had been hacked by Stonewall.

Don't like the blue colour, it's harder to read the text and I'm not visually impaired. I think that users should be able to choose the colour that you want.

Could you kindly update the site so that you go to the most recent post on a thread when you re-visit it, or even to your bookmark if you made one.

Also, could you please update Advanced Search so that if you click on a post you have found in your results, then you are taken to that exact spot in the thread.

I think both of these functions would vastly improve the site!

Not a fan. I liked the stronger colours for the OP’s post, the green option is insipid and harder to distinguish from other posts. I associate blue coloured posts with MNHQ only so don’t really want the OP’s post the same colour.

Not much use if the old colours are no longer available. I've spent some time trying out different combinations, but they are all too washed-out and unpleasantly pastel, so the contrast is poor. Green for the OP and purple for my own posts worked so well for so long. Sigh...

The new colours are like whisper white paint shades. All very similar.

Need a bit more of this....

DH, who lurks and does the puzzles, doesn't like it either.

I've had to turn my night filter on to try and dampen down the visual version of screaming in my face that is this new update.
