You might notice things are looking a bit different today. We’ve given Mumsnet a colour refresh, based on feedback from you in our surveys (thank you!).

We’ve also moved a couple of things around to reduce clutter and make things easier to find:

  • Watch now sits under the OP post
  • Report has moved into the meatball menu (the three dots on posts)

As ever, we’d love to hear what you think, so please share your feedback below.

Mumsnet’s strapline used to be “By parents, for parents”, @FeralWoman - even though it is called Mumsnet, it isn’t just for mums, or even just for women.

I’m aware of that but if there’s that many men on here I’m surprised that they’re not making themselves obvious by mansplaining everything to us silly women.

It's still returning to the top of the page everytime I come out of a thread. So I have to scroll all the way back down again. I know others flagged this up the other day. Is it just me stuck with this!

Not just you. If I've gone down a list to pick a thread to look at, then I go back to the list page, I'm at the top.

If I click on a thread I tend to be taken to a random page, not the one on which I have a bookmark.

This site is less and less pleasant to use.

This has been an issue for at least 3 months. See previous threads in Site Stuff.

Shame they didn’t sort that out rather than doing the design refresh. Would have been a lot more useful.

NettleandBramble · 21/09/2025 22:13

Looking forward to tomorrow and a return to more restful colours.

Stravaig · 21/09/2025 22:27

Another weird glitch - the summary view shows the latest post, but it's invisible when I click into the thread itself!

So its a new week and still no colour change any update on the fix @LizzyMumsnet or @KatyMumsnet

I'm not expecting any changes to happen today unfortunately. I suspect they will start working on the changes today but they won't be implementing them until tomorrow or Wednesday at the earliest.

You have more faith than me. I suspect they'll keep saying they're working on it, but nothing will actually change.

How hard can it be just to go back to the old version? They could have done that on Friday.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 22/09/2025 09:17

IIRC, the promise was 'not before early this week'. So it could be a while yet.

boatyardblues · 22/09/2025 10:00

The organisational learning from this “upgrade” needs to be that it’s not sensible to implement a significant change at the end of the week when MN can’t unpick things that aren’t working and support for users is limited because of the weekend.

KatyMumsnet · 22/09/2025 12:59

The changes are currently in progress, and we’ve also agreed to add the classic colours back in. These will be available for you to select within your customisation options.

Thank you for the option of either set of colours. That and removing the absurd "my posts" thing were the two matters I felt strongly about.

It might be interesting to see how many people, given that choice and having to take action on it themselves, revert their settings to the ones that they had last month, and eschew the new colours.

Do you have a rough ETA of when these will be available?

Mantari · 22/09/2025 13:05

Will you be toning the blue down a little @KatyMumsnet ?

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 22/09/2025 13:10

Can the bright blue be made darker or more muted please @KatyMumsnet
As a migraine sufferer that's what I've been struggling with the most.

ratinamustardhat · 22/09/2025 13:13

The blue is a nightmare.

BIWI · 22/09/2025 13:31

@KatyMumsnet but why offer the option of going back to the previous colours, if you’re aiming to ‘refresh’ things?

That suggests that there was no real strategic reason for the change in the first place, if you can happily offer a way to undo it.

And, worse, just adds more complexity for the tech team, I’d imagine.

bluegreygreen · 22/09/2025 13:59

@KatyMumsnet Rather than include the previous colours as options in the colour list, is it possible to have the previous view as a 'classic view' option?

This would help those who are having an issue with the updated view, and presumably allow MNHQ to continue with its original aim.

SamphiretheTervosaur · 22/09/2025 14:28

Tell them to hurry up @KatyMumsnet

I've managed about 15 minutes at most. It's really painful!

That's about as much as I can cope with as well.

I want to be able to once again lose many hours mindlessly browsing!

Bettalam · 22/09/2025 14:40

Really hope the old colours come back and the maddening 'skipping back to the top of Active' is fixed.

In future, just do a straw poll (with an example) to see if people would appreciate a colour change. How much less hassle would that have been than all this?!!
