You might notice things are looking a bit different today. We’ve given Mumsnet a colour refresh, based on feedback from you in our surveys (thank you!).

We’ve also moved a couple of things around to reduce clutter and make things easier to find:

  • Watch now sits under the OP post
  • Report has moved into the meatball menu (the three dots on posts)

As ever, we’d love to hear what you think, so please share your feedback below.

The magenta and green are really insipid - I don’t like them at all. Much preferred the old lilac and green.

I don’t mind the blue.

PoppyClippyCloppy · 18/09/2025 21:25

I honestly can’t see anything different at all! On the app or on the website. I wonder why hasn’t mine changed? 🤓

Consider yourself lucky.

I'm the entire site brightness has gone up, the MN blue is different, closer to royal blue than the old navy ish.

The lovely calm sage green and lavender that the OPs and my posts used to be have turned a god awful eggshell blue and peachy pastel salmon pink.

It's awful.

I feel like I've got arc flash.

SauvignonBlanche · 18/09/2025 21:53

I fucking hate the changes!

Have been into settings to try and change the colours but it doesn’t give me the option to.

Sunshine697 · 18/09/2025 21:57

I've changed my talk settings so the posts by the OP are better and not so glaring but has mumsnet changed the blue of the logo/main page? It's really, really bright. Even with my 'eye comfort mode' on on my phone and my brightness turned down, it's making me squint. 🙁

Clafoutie · 18/09/2025 21:58

Another vote for “ it’s too bright” Have to dim my screen!

NanTheWiser · 18/09/2025 21:58

Talk about Fiddling while Rome burns - there are far more annoying issues with this website, which have ongoing for months, and nothing done about them, apart from soothing comments rom MNHQ! Fix the roof before painting the walls in pretty pastels!

Hate it!

eightpaws · 18/09/2025 21:58

Why haven’t I got it yet! ☹️

Got it - thanks @Hoardasurass

They're still shit though, aren’t they? 🤦‍♀️

DrBlackbird · 18/09/2025 22:05

My Post" yes, I know it's my post because I bloody well wrote it and it has my username at the top (and it is now highlighted in a fetching, decomposing salmon colour)

This sums it up ^ I don’t like the new colours but the ‘My Posts’ are unnecessary and in some cases could be really problematic for some posters.

Okiedokie123 · 18/09/2025 22:06

I had custom selected colours for the OP and any of my comments. I’m not liking this update at all. Now it looks like all the OPs are posts by MNHQ - because they are blue as MN comments are on my screen.
I preferred it as it was before.

lavendermilkshake · 18/09/2025 22:07

Oh my goodness. You really are intent on making it a place for kindergartner level interactions.

The new colours are awful, it's so bright overall it's unbearable, and the 'Original Poster" etc banners are patronising, and will not make a jot of difference to the posters who ignore all followups and barely read the title of the OP anyway.

How dumb are you hoping your user base to be?

edit to add: Oh my God, I must be an instant moron, too, because I would never have been able to tell when I posted until this new banner "My Post" was added.

The lovely green I used has been replaced by an insipid grey, which is why I guess we need the dopey banners, as it is hard to see against the glaring white.

Kreepture · 18/09/2025 22:09

@LizzyMumsnet Did anyone with eyeballs actually test this before you just rolled it out to everyone else?

Did you check they weren't visually impaired and/or colourblind and what their screen brightness/contrasts were?

Infact, speaking of visually impaired, did anyone with an actual impairment test it?

Turn the brightness down
Give us back our poster colours
Get rid of the stupid "my post" and "original poster" boxes.

lemonandorangeslices · 18/09/2025 22:11

The level of brightness is uncomfortable for my eyes.

I can’t turn down brightness on my device because then all other sites will be too dark.

SauvignonBlanche · 18/09/2025 22:13

Are MNHQ posts going to remain the same colour as the OP’s?
Or does TSSDNCOP?🙄

ChristmasMiracleBaby · 18/09/2025 22:15

It's too light I can barely make the blue out from the white.. The green was better.
Just make it an option that you can customise the colour, then everyone would be happy.

HangingOver · 18/09/2025 22:16

Is my phone broken or do posts now auto scroll?

medievalpenny · 18/09/2025 22:18

This wasn't accessibility tested at all before rolling out, was it?

It's pointless saying we can change the colours in settings when the new colours are barely distinguishable from white.

And blue text is difficult to read as people get older and their eyesight changes. Blue text on a blue background is even worse - it's basically camouflaged.
