A few updates to Mumsnet 🎨

You might notice things are looking a bit different today. We’ve given Mumsnet a colour refresh, based on feedback from you in our surveys (thank you!).

We’ve also moved a couple of things around to reduce clutter and make things easier to find:

• Watch now sits under the OP post
• Report has moved into the meatball menu (the three dots on posts)

The pink is vile. It has a fish paste/blancmange vibe. Genuinely disgusting.

And what's the point of the huge 'Original Poster' and 'My Posts' (sic) button-like banners? They're ugly, obtrusive, annoying and, as posts are identifiable by colour, utterly pointless. Stupid visual litter.

Like millions of other posters I scroll through MN on the train or on the sofa with family at home. I don't want anyone who glances at my phone to be able to see instantly what I've said because my posts have got a sodding great banner all over them.

What on earth were you thinking?

The nav bar blue is brighter now, it makes me squint. Why change the blue?

I agree, the salmon pink is grim.

You can’t change the colours of the banners and thread titles as far as I can see, and they are the main thing giving me a headache.

Dark mode is rubbish as well.

Just like the rubbish adverts that keep popping up. They are not bothered if it annoys users. It must have something to do with 💷.

Good to know, but the brightness and the bright blue and the awful My Post/Original Poster labels are the real problems.

The washed out post colours also major irritants.

How is an update simultaneously garish AND drab? Quite impressive!

Please, please let us have the original versions back as well?

But the customisable colours are all really insipid and washed out. I liked my green and purple suffragette theme and now the green and purple are just varieties of grey!

The op posts on my screen have turned pink and I really don't like them. Could you change them back to the way it was before.

Do you ever consider accessibility or visual impairments whenever you make an update that no one asked for? Eg, the endless scroll that you had to ask to have turned off instead of being able to turn it off manually.

These colours are not disability friendly and whoever is in charge of these updates is an actual idiot.

Thank god you've moved the report button. On first posts it was where bookmark is normally.

Definitely agree we don’t need the ‘my posts’ .. that is very annoying.

I've changed the colour for my own posts but there is such a limited range of colours that with the green being almost non existent you're left with too bright or hideous for the OP.

Was the update by someone who is colour blind?

Re: dark mode, which I'm using now to avoid the awful colours...

Just as my eyes have got used to a black background, white-based/bright adverts will appear to the side of the text I'm trying to read. It makes things difficult.

Doing advanced search + relevance brings up an empty box. If you click in the box, it shows you options, but just one at a time, depending on where you click. Pretty sure it showed you the contents of the box in light mode.

There's no arrow to the side of the thread/board title, but if you click where there was an arrow in light mode, it takes you to the level above.

If MN is going to force its users into dark mode, perhaps you could fix these? Or you could just give us back a usable light mode.

the darkmode on here sucks

there is a browser extension you can get called 'dark reader' try that.. much more palatable/workable dark mode.

give me back my green/purple!!
