You might notice things are looking a bit different today. We’ve given Mumsnet a colour refresh, based on feedback from you in our surveys (thank you!).

We’ve also moved a couple of things around to reduce clutter and make things easier to find:

  • Watch now sits under the OP post
  • Report has moved into the meatball menu (the three dots on posts)

As ever, we’d love to hear what you think, so please share your feedback below.

On my phone and when scrolling through this thread the blue bar at the bottom is way too bright and intrusive so I've covered it with my shirt.

Good point made above that some posters might not want Your Post to be obvious (eg those using mumsnet to help them escape an abusive relationship).

Gosh, I hadn't even thought about that.

In contrast to the wishy washy colours of the OP and my posts, the labels are quite different - very dark and for me, too big. Colour coding is really all that's needed, surely?

GreyPearlSatin · 18/09/2025 18:26

I just had to turn my monitor's brightness way down, because the colors are giving me a headache and I don't suffer from migraines. But the blue is still way too bright and I struggle to see the screen.

I suppose this is good, because I spend way too much time on Mumsnet as it is

ifIwerenotanandroid · 18/09/2025 18:27

I've moved to dark/night mode, for the first time on MN. Now there are no colours to differentiate anything. Was it always like this?

Did you not consider the effect of one colour next to another? Seeing my posts as 'grey' when not quoting in them, but as a blue colour when a true grey quote is introduced into the 'grey' post, messes with my colour sense & the flip-flopping of that feels unpleasant.

nolight · 18/09/2025 18:28

Love the term 'meatball menu'. Never knew it was called that!
I also had to reduce the brightness.

Seeline · 18/09/2025 18:29

I remember doing a survey.
I think it asked if we used the colour coding options and if we liked the colours available.
It didn't give any indication of things changing, or examples of new colours etc

endofthelinefinally · 18/09/2025 18:29

I have a headache already.
Please change it back.
It really is horrible on the eyes.

recklessgran · 18/09/2025 18:30

No, sorry I really don't like it at all.
Why change things - I don't think anyone was complaining!
I didn't see a survey so when and where was that?

Shinysunday · 18/09/2025 18:31

OK at first but after using it for a few minutes, the bright blue colour is giving me a headache. I've got brightness turned as low as it will go. The pink is OK.

butterpuffed · 18/09/2025 18:33

Where has threads I'm Watching gone ?

GeniuneWorkOfFart · 18/09/2025 18:36

RuttleTuttle · 18/09/2025 18:12

I have a question

Why does the stupid new badge above my post say "My posts", but isn't linkable to my posts?

Edited

It's in case you forget that a post was your own post, duh. Because we are all fools and don't know our own post when we see it Hmm

Same. It is impossible to use the site after a few minutes. Why is it all so bright @LizzyMumsnet ?

Borka · 18/09/2025 18:40

I'm also finding the blue too bright, it's giving me a headache.

Shinysunday · 18/09/2025 18:41

Ouch. Going to have to stop now. Even the pink seems too bright.
I am subject to migraines BTW which may have something to do with it.

Pebbles16 · 18/09/2025 18:41

Gah the blue! WAY TOO MUCH

BunnyLake · 18/09/2025 18:41

I don’t like it. I don’t need to be informed of each post from an OP, I can see that for myself with their different coloured posts. Same with mine. It’s very annoying.

Colours are horrible too. If it ain't broke don’t fix it!

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 18/09/2025 18:41

I've started a poll on AIBU

Pebbles16 · 18/09/2025 18:42

Gah the blue! WAY TOO MUCH

And the pink of "my posts"is eye watering.
Softer hues please

GeniuneWorkOfFart · 18/09/2025 18:36

But it says

My Posts

Not "My Post"!!

toffeeappleturnip · 18/09/2025 18:45

aaaaaah too bright and colours too pale to distinguish.

None of the colours chosen make any difference 😫

It's horrible and hurts my eyes

FluffytheGoldfish · 18/09/2025 18:45

The only colour my eyes are somewhat tolerating is gray, but to be honest I’ve had to switch to dark mode as too uncomfortable to read.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 18/09/2025 18:46

ButSheSaid · 18/09/2025 15:35

Please don't remove dark mode.

I want mine restored to how I chose it- the OP and my posts in colour.

"I want mine restored to how I chose it- the OP and my posts in colour."
So do I, the OP’s posts in green and mine in purple. No need to tell me they’re my own posts. And why is the blue so awfully, awfully bright, now? Change for the sake of it.

LifeOfBriony · 18/09/2025 18:47

I don’t like the pink colour for my own posts.

I’m happy that the ‘report’ button has moved; in the past I’ve accidentally clicked on it a few times while scrolling.

Seeyouincourtyoufool · 18/09/2025 18:48

Way way way too bright even turned down then it’s either too dark or too bright still. wtf!

BunnyLake · 18/09/2025 18:48

Oh dear, someone was bored today and decided to fiddle around with the knobs and buttons. The devil makes work for idle hands indeed 😵‍💫

BlackCatsAreBrilliant · 18/09/2025 18:49

Agree with PPS.

It is too bright and uncomfortable to look at.

The available colours to highlight OP and own posts are poor and insipid.

I don't need a big banner saying that something is the OP's or my post because the colours (horrible as they are) already highlight it.

But I'm pleased the report button has moved as it was easy to hit whilst scrolling. So that change is good.
