You might notice things are looking a bit different today. We’ve given Mumsnet a colour refresh, based on feedback from you in our surveys (thank you!).

We’ve also moved a couple of things around to reduce clutter and make things easier to find:

  • Watch now sits under the OP post
  • Report has moved into the meatball menu (the three dots on posts)

As ever, we’d love to hear what you think, so please share your feedback below.

The pink, blue and white looks like a fucking homage to the trans flag Angry

FenyouGreek · 18/09/2025 17:30

...yes that "MY POSTS" button could be problematic for people wanting to post with a degree of privacy in a shared room. It makes it was too obvious now.

And now I'm really out. Whatever the changes are, they are cybersicky ones!

User987439 · 18/09/2025 17:31

Shade of blue is horrible and headache inducing! It seems to match the same shade as Facebook but they don't have blue text and button all over the page.

RaraRachael · 18/09/2025 16:06

MNHQ Can you please have some consideration to visually impaired viewers before you make endless changes?

Seconded. These are just cosmetics

did they even ask any people with visual impairments to test?

I wish they'd focus on priority things like getting rid of the massive adverts covering the whole screen in bright white which is horrendous for people with visual impairments. Subject to a long running thread

OP posts and My Posts highlighted is a good solution, thanks 🙏

Account734 · 18/09/2025 17:32

I've just tried dark mode and I don't like it either. I'm going to be spending a lot less time on Mumsnet. Awful changes!

CoraPirbright · 18/09/2025 17:33

Instead of messing around with the colours etc could you not sort out the fact that the site keeps crashing on my mobile. It’s virtually unusable now!!!!

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 18/09/2025 17:36

I much prefer the previous version - much easier to see OP posts & my own when they're on a coloured background rather than just labelled.

ApricotCrush · 18/09/2025 17:37

Why change things for the sake of it? The original posts now look like MNHQ posts and I knew which my posts were because I had them pink and I didn't need a button over them. The report button was always in an awkward place because I used to hit it accidentally when scrolling, but most people won't know where to find it now.

Nopeasinapasty · 18/09/2025 17:37

Is anyone else's homepage just a long list of adverts now, with no menu or trending topics? I've had to navigate to active by going back through my earlier browsing.

On chrome on android btw

The pages with the list of threads on the board is so very hard to read. The pink text on blue or white background makes me see double . The blue is even harder to hard to read on the blue background than it is on the white background. The font seems too thin as well.

spiderlight · 18/09/2025 17:39

It's too bright and much less usable. Sorry. It was infinitely better before. The bright blue is very hard to read against the white.

Hi all,

Thanks so much to everyone who’s taken the time to share feedback on the recent updates, we’re working our way through your comments!

A couple of quick updates:

  • If you’d prefer a different look, you can customise colours under Settings > Talk settings. From there, you can choose how your own posts and threads by author are displayed.
  • We’ll also be adding the Watch button back to the bottom of the page shortly.

No comment on the issues people are having with the changes regarding migraines being induced or causing problems due to sight issues? Surely they are more important than the positioning of a Watch button?

Shatteredallthetimelately · 18/09/2025 17:40

Been messing about with the settings as only just seen this thread, thought mine had gone skiwiff...

Far to bright for my eyes...

The OPers that I was following, their messages have now turned blue instead of the normal prominent green of my choosing, confused me as I ithought MN admin was blue...I changed it back to green via settings and it's an incredibly light green, if it didn't have "original poster" written above the message, for me it would be difficult to differentiate the OPer from someone replying.

My lovely stand out magenta which was my reply colour has gone a wishy washy colour, which TBH applies to all of the colours that you can choose in the settings now.

Not my cup of tea, but the majority have spoken.

Ksibeij · 18/09/2025 17:40

Does MN ever make any changes that makes the site BETTER? 😂😂

PickAChew · 18/09/2025 17:40

21ZIGGY · 18/09/2025 17:17

A light blue rather than light green has kicked off your migraine? Do you think it could just be your screen use?

The whole page background is brighter, creating far too much contrast. While dense text and low contrast make things difficult for users with poor eyesight, too much contrast on web pages can induce migraines or epileptic seizures as well as being uncomfortable for some people with ASC or visual processing issues to look at. There are numerous tools that Web developers can access to evaluate the visual accessibility of their sites.

murasaki · 18/09/2025 16:26

That was always an option in settings. And still won't stop the people who won't use the 'see all' option on the OP's posts. One good idea could have been having that as a sticky on every thread!

That’s an excellent idea!
I didn’t know I could change settings to see my posts easily 😳

Also not sure what’s going on but I couldn’t even get into the site just now 😬

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 18/09/2025 17:44

I really dislike the new colours, @LizzyMumsnet - I’m sorry, but the blue is too garish and bright - it’s difficult to look at - and the salmon pink for my posts is just insipid.

Yes mine is the same when I go via FB, I cant seem to change it either, its giving me a headache what with that and the colour change

menopausalfart · 18/09/2025 17:46

Way too bright and dark mode is hideous.

Vaxtable · 18/09/2025 17:48

I have just logged on via my iPad. All I get is a massive advert 25 years of Mumsnet and all the boxes are in times Roman font, not the norm

also the blue confused me, that’s what MN use to comment

can we go back to green please

@LizzyMumsnet

agree. And also the post about logging on

pleasemput it back

comfyslippers2 · 18/09/2025 17:50

So sorry MN team but I really really hate the changes - I loved the colour scheme before it was changed. It’s far too bright now, hurting my eyes and I’m worried it will trigger vertigo.

The new electric blue is far too eye wateringly bright & the colour of original posts is pale & insipid & hard to spot.

There’s no real contrast now making it uncomfortable to spend time here and it’s just change for the sake of change. It might be a good thing as I’ve been spending too much time on Mumsnet!

Helleofabore · 18/09/2025 17:51

The colours that are the problem LizzyMumsnet are the ones that are set ones.

playing with settings doesn’t change the ones that are the problem.

VictoriaEra2 · 18/09/2025 17:53

Glad you’ve moved Report. I’ve nearly reported by accident several times! Usually when not wearing glasses.

This. It’s the blue and the white.
