I've added a picture, though I don't know if it will be allowed. Ann Summers adverts have been popping up mid thread for a few days, mostly pictures of women in thongs and stockings from behind though also a model with crosses over her nips in some sheer thing. It's so embarrassing if I'm browsing MN in the queue for Pilates or at a coffee shop and someone looks over my shoulder and sees these tacky, porny images.

I thought ads were targeted but I have never visited the Ann Summers site in my life and never would - it's all nasty polyester, I feel itchy just seeing the adverts. I'm surprised ads featuring naked bums are ok on Mumsnet - it's really putting me off scrolling! Shouldn't they be blocked?

Baby names threads have always been the stupidest and most childish on the site.

"You can't call her Charlotte! It rhymes with harlot and varlet! And it could be shortened to Charlie (a class A drug!!) Or Lottie, which rhymes with spotty AND grotty AND botty!! Omg you WANT your child to be called Charlotte the harlot aka spotty botty Lottie!! Do you even LIKE your unborn baby??"

Essentially a pack of grown women bullies thinking up unpleasant nicknames for as yet unborn children.

An ad for vibrating knickers could only lend a touch of class.

It isn't just the Ann Summers ads that are a problem for many of us. It is also 'the 15 most attractive athletes that turn heads' ads. They are overtly sexualised images of young women for the male gaze. They have no place on MN. I trust you will deal with them alongside the Ann Summers ones @BeckyAMumsnet @HebeMumsnet @JoMumsnet @PipMumsnet

I'm currently being plagued on every thread by adverts for something called "Ego" for clothes which are so cheap and cheap looking, nasty and tacky that they make Shein look classy. The "report " function is there but it makes no difference

TheHillsIsLonely · 25/08/2025 12:40

Until MNHQ fix this I have discovered that draping a sock over the right side of my laptop screen blocks out the flashing ads and bums!!!

Treyy58 · 26/08/2025 19:22

Bums on gossip thread. It's raining bums.

Hello and thank you for your patience with this - you will no longer see these ads.

MNHQ

They are still here, taking up almost the whole screen and with no way of getting rid of them. I don't want to look at ads for Ann Summers or Temu. I wonder if the screenshot will pass your own image screening?

@HebeMumsnet @JoMumsnet @PipMumsnet @BeckyAMumsnet The large flashing and explicit Ann Summers side ad is back now on a thread about baby bereavement. How inappropriate, insensitive and tacky is that. We were told that those ads were gone, but they are not and are still appearing in the worst places.

SqueakyDoor · 28/08/2025 08:41

The ad's back again on FWR, bright and early this morning.

I'm starting to disbelieve the promises from @HebeMumsnet @BeckyAMumsnet @JoMumsnet @PipMumsnet that the ad wouldn't appear again...

Gobacktotheworld · 28/08/2025 09:06

They are not deliberately trying to trigger you. It's the advertising that pays for these forums and they aren't selecting them on an ad by ad basis.

You always have the option of financially supporting them and getting the ad-free version.

Having not seen the Ann Summers bare buttocks ads for a while they're back with a vengeance tonight.
I thought you were supposed to have got rid of them?

SwedishEdith · 28/08/2025 22:21

They appeared on Active Conversations page earlier, not even a specific thread.

Astrabees · 29/08/2025 07:52

I’m offended! I haven’t had any of these ads and seem to mainly get ads for cleaning products. Is mumsnet ageist?
