I've added a picture, though I don't know if it will be allowed. Ann Summers adverts have been popping up mid thread for a few days, mostly pictures of women in thongs and stockings from behind though also a model with crosses over her nips in some sheer thing. It's so embarrassing if I'm browsing MN in the queue for Pilates or at a coffee shop and someone looks over my shoulder and sees these tacky, porny images.

I thought ads were targeted but I have never visited the Ann Summers site in my life and never would - it's all nasty polyester, I feel itchy just seeing the adverts. I'm surprised ads featuring naked bums are ok on Mumsnet - it's really putting me off scrolling! Shouldn't they be blocked?

Morning, everyone. Thanks for your feedback on this. It is a legitimate ad, just to reassure you. We'll take a closer look at the content and double check that it's all suitable for the site. Of course, if you see the ads anywhere really inapporpriate please do let us know, though that shouldn't happen.

If you feel you're seeing a lot of them you could try clearing your cookies. That might help, too.

Hi all - thanks for your comments. This ad is appearing via programmatic advertising, which means it's not directly placed by us but arrives through an open auction system. Advertisers bid in real time to show ads based on things like page content, general browsing behaviour, and what the algorithm thinks you might be interested in - it doesn't necessarily mean you or anyone around you has been Googling something similar. Ann Summers is a permitted advertiser on Mumsnet, but we appreciate that some of the imagery may not appeal to everyone.

If you'd prefer not to see ads like this, you can click the small "X" or "AdChoices" icon (usually at the top corner of the ad) and follow the options to provide feedback or manage your ad preferences. This helps refine what types of ads are shown to you based on your interests. You can also manage this for everything you may see on Google: https://myadcenter.google.com/kids?sasb=true&ref=ad-settings

Thanks again for the feedback.

Hi there, not all ads are required to have an ‘X’ to close them. Some types are designed to stay on the screen for a short time, which is allowed under standard advertising rules.

We’ve blocked a number of the ads that were flagged, but if you spot any others you think we should see, please do let us know and we’ll review them.

Thank you, @TheHillsIsLonely . We'll review them again today.

Hello and thank you for your patience with this - you will no longer see these ads.

Morning @SqueakyDoor . Thanks for letting us know. If you're able to click on the ad next time you see it and get the url for us, that would be brilliant. Or even a screenshot would help actually.

We'll check it out in the meantime. Could you tell us where on the site you were when you saw the ad please? Thanks!

HebeMumsnet · 20/08/2025 09:59

Scratch that @SqueakyDoor . We managed to find this one already and have sorted it. If you see any more please do drop us a line here. Thanks!

JoMumsnet · 22/08/2025 11:23

@SwedishEdith and @Treyy58 please can you let us know where the bums are appearing? A screenshot will do, or if you can click on the ad and grab the URL that would help us locate it quickly. Thanks in advance.

JoMumsnet · 22/08/2025 12:59

Indeed...

JoMumsnet · 22/08/2025 13:16

Thanks @SqueakyDoor Smile
