Remove Fife Threads from Trending?

Shitmonger · 19/07/2025 01:11

Could MN consider removing the numerous “Nurse Fife” threads from the Trending section? There are several new ones a day, thousands of posts, most of them pretty inane (“Can’t wait.” “I’m still on thread 29.” “Signing on” etc etc.) Because they are so active the entire Trending section will fill up with them (Nurse Fife #24, Nurse Fife #25, Nurse Fife #26, and so on). You have to manually hide every single one and then there’s another new one in a few hours.

Can they just be removed from the Trending section? I’m sure the people interested know where to find them by now.

They probably are the NHS Fife press officer!

Couldn't blame them for not wanting to be reminded of the case if so!

Honestly never imagined NHS Fife would ever be in the press on a website like MN!

I know plenty of people talking about it in real life, particularly those working in healthcare trusts.
In fact, for many of them, it’s the first time gender ideology has been on their radar in any real way.

Hummmm.... Job soon to be advertised🤷‍♀️

( if the current ooops did we say that out loud press release is anything to go by.)

Aaaand a lack of management skills when you hire a bunch of staff who think the first statement was a good idea and the Board approved it.
Sigh...

Basically sticking 2 fingers up to a Regulator while saying we have no idea we are spending 1/4 of a million+ of public funds but only 25k count
👁👁🤳😬

And thats ignoring the we cant talk about it but the other side are ......

The only reason many don't want it trending is because it's Fife being discussed. Most folk probably have never even heard of it let alone the topic being discussed about that health board!

In that case those who don't want to read about it can simply hide the thread. For many users on here this is a very important case for all kinds of reasons.

I am shopping-phobic and celebrity-phobic, but I wouldn't even think of questioning threads on those topics figuring in Trending.

Bullying is endemic there in NHS Fife so the news story doesn't surprise me...I worked there years ago. I left to raise a family and have no regrets.

Management often do no listen to the minions at the bottom. It's deeply rooted in NHS Fife.

Not just Fife. Sadly.

The story is about NHS Fife that's why I mentioned the bullying etc. I know that it unfortunately happens in many places too.

Yes, I know you said Fife, I was merely saying, as you acknowledge, it is endemic in the NHS as a whole. Sadly.

It's really terrible that years after leaving the NHS bullying is just as rife as it ever was. Shocking. Same with the story itself which is referenced in this thread. Bullying in its cruelest form.

MysteriousUsername · 19/07/2025 17:57

I don't go on trending, I just look at Active threads. But, and it may come as a surprise to you, I just don't click on threads I not interested in. I'm quite sure you could do that too.

nocoolnamesleft · 19/07/2025 18:15

Isn’t the whole point of the trending section to be populated by trending threads? And the main reason those threads have been trending is that a lot has been happening. Important stuff affecting women’s basic rights.

GCAcademic · 19/07/2025 22:22

I have an idea! Let's put the least popular threads in "Trending".

After all, words don't need to mean what some bigots think they do, you just need to reframe your thinking!

Bannedontherun · 19/07/2025 22:34

This thread is the epitome of irony.

Judging by the OP name and lack of follow up I imagine they already have what they want from this thread.

@Shitmonger is that you, Carol Potter?

Longdarkteatimeofthesoul · 19/07/2025 23:46

I'm from Aus and catching up on the days developments at the wrong time of day but I am still glued to Mumsnet and the UK papers and are actually discussing it with people in real life as we have Tickle vs Giggle coming up. Having it in Trending helps me find it and realise I have missed an entire thread and have to catch up!!! :-)

Oh I know, it's just in every newspaper, on the tv, being discussed in Parliament, is having opinion pieces written about it, all over social media, being covered by tribunal tweets as part of Open Justice and there is a 30+ megathread on here.

But no, nothing to see here.

It is remarkable, isn't it? A trial that is being reported in the media on a daily basis across a range of media is apparently not being discussed in real life?

It probably says more about the person that is not included in the discussions that are occurring than the reality of whether people are discussing it or not. But I don't think that ever occurs to those who declare that no one around them is discussing the topic or not.

And Tickle v Giggle is being livestreamed for all if I remember correctly. It seems to have many twists leading into it now too.
