Remove Fife Threads from Trending?

Shitmonger · 19/07/2025 01:11

Could MN consider removing the numerous “Nurse Fife” threads from the Trending section? There are several new ones a day, thousands of posts, most of them pretty inane (“Can’t wait.” “I’m still on thread 29.” “Signing on” etc etc.) Because they are so active the entire Trending section will fill up with them (Nurse Fife #24, Nurse Fife #25, Nurse Fife #26, and so on). You have to manually hide every single one and then there’s another new one in a few hours.

Can they just be removed from the Trending section? I’m sure the people interested know where to find them by now.

OP posts:

Ridiculous request. It’s trending because it’s outrageous and it’s happening right now - censoring it trending is another version of erasure for Sandie Peggie who is having her life upended in public to protect other women.

Let it all trend! Let women get curious and click and know exactly what’s going on in Fife.

There's not much else going on in Fife right enough except ☢️⚠️ radioactive beaches in Dalgety Bay and contamination in Kinghorn and Burntisland beaches during peak season🤷‍♀️

TwiceForLunch · 19/07/2025 07:39

This is potentially one of the most significant ET cases in recent UK history. In a sea of really very significant ET cases. It's trending because of that. And because what it reveals about widespread institutional capture and incompetence.

Anyway- the trending topic is for trending threads. Which it is.

Honestly never imagined NHS Fife would ever be in the press on a website like MN!

Yeah, who would have? But then again I would never have imagined NHS staff pretending they don’t know what sex is, and spending enormous amounts of taxpayers money on it.🤷‍♀️

Maybe you could start a thread about those topics and get it trending enough to knock NHS Fife off the top of the trending lists!

"Dear MN, please remove a thread I don't like from Trending. Because nobody is interested in it" 🙄

Certain posters are boosting it constantly that's why. I am sure many are getting weary of the story though. I don't know anyone IRL discussing it, for example.

I don't know anyone IRL discussing an OP and her DH wanting her to take their babysitter to the beach with them. But there it is in Trending!

You people are going to have to learn that the world is changing, and you can't control us any more.

The only reason many don't want it trending is because it's Fife being discussed. Most folk probably have never even heard of it let alone the topic being discussed about that health board!

I'm sure most people that use Mumset are aware of the NHS and of Fife.

Where is that laugh emoji when you really need it?!

If #x and #y of a long running thread are both in trending at the same time it is due to the high level of interest and engagement. See also political long running threads at election times.

ie the very definition of “trending”. 🙄

Yes, because of the threads! If i hadn’t months ago seen the early threads in active/trending i wouldn’t have known. So im glad I stumbled across them. And I can see why some people might not want a light being shone on this.

user1476613140 · 19/07/2025 07:48

If it boosts tourism for the Mighty Kingdom then that's fine. It's putting Fife on the map if anything this story....

unbelieveable22 · 19/07/2025 07:48

Absolutely not. I had taken a passing interest in the ongoing tribunal but given the number of threads, started to read them all. They have been mind blowing as to the toxic culture that exists for women in Fife NHS. I have always believed in live and let live but this unfolding story has made me start to re-evaluate and ask questions.
The distortions, the manipulation that has gone on cannot be ignored and if this is a reflection of what is happening in other areas then as women, we should be concerned.
No support, sent on special leave without establishing facts, one side being accepted without question, situation being discussed with a predetermined conclusion. It just goes on and on. Mind blowing, especially yesterday. Hopefully like me many more are being made aware of what is really going on. Thank you to all those who have kept this going and kept us informed.

So the fact its actually a really important case is irrelevant. Would it be more appropriate for trending if it was in Manchester. Are news stories only of interest because of their location rather than what's happened? Will it be more interesting if the next case like this is in a big city/county

Id be very surprised if people haven't heard of Fife.

Yes, below thread 32 but above the full thread 31.😂

ShedSister · 19/07/2025 07:53

Can confirm you have got this thread in trending.
Off to update myself on Fife. My previous tending thread read was the toilet one. Pleased to see there's lots of vipers recognising the importance of hard won women's rights.

I'd love to see more push on other forums for men to be more kind so that people can leave women's spaces alone.

Cheer up its about all the NHS bodies as they all have the same policy of calling female employees transphobic when they object to providing a strip show.

Fife just happened to have a team of doctors who decided to bully an A&E nurse and she said no.

County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust will also feature soon

sciteach95 · 19/07/2025 08:01

Do you work for The Times? They seem to have a similar point of view about such a monumentally significant story being hidden away in the Scottish section not the main headlines today.

trending is just that, what people are interested in. Maybe just use active and hide those threads if they are not for you. I do that with royal family ones rather than getting upset about them as I know they interest others.

cinnamongirl123 · 19/07/2025 08:01

Jog on, OP.

Not2identifying · 19/07/2025 08:03

I think the NHS is the UK's largest employer. They tried to force their female employee to take her clothes off in front of a man. This is a hugely important case for women's rights and it's great that people are engaging with it. Yesterday a renowned women's rights campaigner put a letter on Twitter - it was a copy of a letter being used in evidence in the tribunal. Within 12 hours the post had over 800,000 views. The amount of interest being generated by this extraordinary case is fantastic and the more people that know about it, the better.

🤣🤣🤣

If I end up needing medical on holidays due to swimming in radioactive beaches in Dalgety Bay and contamination in Kinghorn and Burntisland beaches during peak season I may have an interest in the hospital situation too

Dearg · 19/07/2025 08:10

It’s trending because it goes to the heart of the shit show that has been the SNP policy on gender recognition.

It’s also trending because it goes to the heart of workplace bullying, by men over women, and by the mighty Doctors in the NHS over the lowly Nurses. Bullying which has been tolerated for decades.

It is absolutely fascinating to follow; anyone who has ever watched a fictional court case on film or tv will be blown away by the skill of the barristers on Sandie Peggy’s team. And amazed and the ineptitude of supposedly educated staff as they trip up over their own lies and attempts to obfuscate.

These are important threads.

The NHS is the seventh largest employer in the world. Largest in Europe.

Bullying is endemic there in NHS Fife so the news story doesn't surprise me...I worked there years ago. I left to raise a family and have no regrets.

Management often do no listen to the minions at the bottom. It's deeply rooted in NHS Fife.
