Remove Fife Threads from Trending?

Shitmonger · 19/07/2025 01:11

Could MN consider removing the numerous “Nurse Fife” threads from the Trending section? There are several new ones a day, thousands of posts, most of them pretty inane (“Can’t wait.” “I’m still on thread 29.” “Signing on” etc etc.) Because they are so active the entire Trending section will fill up with them (Nurse Fife #24, Nurse Fife #25, Nurse Fife #26, and so on). You have to manually hide every single one and then there’s another new one in a few hours.

Can they just be removed from the Trending section? I’m sure the people interested know where to find them by now.

OP posts:

MNHQ would be nuts to want to quash traffic on the site by hiding it's most trending threads.

If a thread is trending it's trending.

Get over it.

Pluvia · 19/07/2025 12:05

Re OP.

Is that you, Isla Bumba? Kate Searle? Or you, Upton? One of the other witnesses or NHS Fife employees currently shitting bricks at having all NHS Fife's lies and dirty laundry exposed for public gaze, maybe?

Do you really, OP, think this is less interesting than people moaning about their in-laws? These threads are being followed globally: it's bringing a lot of traffic to MN.

If you have no interest, scroll on by.

anyolddinosaur · 19/07/2025 12:08

I took a break and when I came back the latest thread was not in trending. When a new thread starts the old one soon drops off too so there was no thread about it in trending. I had to go back to the last thread which I was on to find it.

So you are wrong, it's not always there - but as it's so important maybe mumsnet should sticky the latest one. 😁

Carriemac · 19/07/2025 12:09

As a woman and an NHS employee this is the most inportant topic on mums net in years and everyone IRL is also gripped / shocked / throwing sunlight on this issue at long last

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 19/07/2025 12:12

If you are not interested... don't click on the threads.

It does seem arrogant to want to hide things YOU are not interested in from everyone else .

I think you do have to accept that many people on Mumsnet are going to be interested in the matter. It is about women's rights (naturally of interest to us) and about shining a light on the murky goings-on in a public institution (so one we all pay for).

Not in trending yet. But 40 something in active conversations 😀

It was climbing up the "charts" earlier this morning.
Bu was pipped by the babysitter and the beach thread🙃

This is doing great things for the Scottish press, with at least one now charging a subscription so getting extra money.

lifeturnsonadime · 19/07/2025 12:19

Blimey OP, this didn't go to plan did it?

ErrolTheDragon · 19/07/2025 12:00

well…the app has a ‘For you’ tab but mine seems to consist mainly of threads I wouldn’t ever want to open.

’curated feeds’ are such a bad idea.

Yep
Twitter staff decided that social engineering would be a great idea and cha-ching cha-ching poof 🤷‍♀️ they engineered themselves out of cushie jobs by someone who agreed.

Texas will be a change to Cali

Jaws2025 · 19/07/2025 12:29

The threads aren't just talking about a situation, they are talking about a tribunal that is happening as we speak (well not today obviously) this is so current and clearly there will be threads about it!

SprayWhiteDung · 19/07/2025 12:29

I also feel strongly that threads about outfits for wedding guests should be hidden, as I personally haven't been invited to any weddings; not to mention those from worried people asking why their house isn't selling, when I personally am not looking to buy or sell property - and I naturally assume that MN exists purely for me, with everybody else there only posting to delight and validate ME.

This reminds me of the recent thread where the OP complained about people still 'going on' about the Post Office scandal. So, so many completely innocent and hardworking people and families have seen their lives destroyed (and actually lost in a number of cases) because of the ongoing actions of some truly vile* people and companies - but OP (who has the privilege of never having been a victim of the scandal) is getting a bit bored of it all now, and finds ignoring and scrolling past any threads that don't interest them a little tiresome; so can we please just ban anybody from mentioning them again, fankyoooo.

*allegedly, I'd better say, though those involved who may object to these allegations may wish to refer to the case of Arkell vs Pressdram.

I don't think you've understood the concept of having a trending section.

BeckyAMumsnet · 19/07/2025 12:35

Hello @Shitmonger. We rarely remove threads from trending but please remember you can make use of the hide thread option for anything you'd rather not see.

AnSolas · 19/07/2025 12:37

Well this thread is about no 15 and Fife is no 2🤣

RedToothBrush · 19/07/2025 12:45

Tripole · 19/07/2025 11:36

Is Mumsnet one of the few places left where your feed is not curated/personalised for you?

The danger here is you might actually learn something useful about how other people think.

How shocking.

Clearly a lot of people are interested in the story, I am. Mute them if you’re not interested, MN isn’t all about you.

I have to admit, I have had to sit on my hands to avoid posting a mic drop gif in response to HQ!

Well that's just patently a lie isn't it? The majority of posts are discussing the situation.

MN I really hope you don't take the Sandie Peggie Vs NHS Fife & Dr Upton out of trending because they are important threads generating a lot of interest and engagement!

HornyHornersPinkyWinky · 19/07/2025 13:14

It’s quite depressing how many women seem to want this whole issue to just go away, so they don’t have to look at it or think about it.

I’m guessing they’re the same people who a few years ago would have said things like: what’s the big deal? There’s no issue, why are you making a fuss?… when women starting highlighting the problems inherent in gender ideology.

Now that there are numerous real life examples of the negative effects for women and girls, they don’t want to see or hear about it. The inconvenient truth.

With a user name like Shitmonger you'll be a great fit for NHS Fife Press Officer.

They probably are the NHS Fife press officer!

TerrierCollector · 19/07/2025 13:40

I’m f we all got threads we didn’t like removed from trending, there’d be nothing left. It’s an important case, and some of the proceedings has been insane, so it’s not surprising people are interested.
