Remove Fife Threads from Trending?

Could MN consider removing the numerous “Nurse Fife” threads from the Trending section? There are several new ones a day, thousands of posts, most of them pretty inane (“Can’t wait.” “I’m still on thread 29.” “Signing on” etc etc.) Because they are so active the entire Trending section will fill up with them (Nurse Fife #24, Nurse Fife #25, Nurse Fife #26, and so on). You have to manually hide every single one and then there’s another new one in a few hours.

Can they just be removed from the Trending section? I’m sure the people interested know where to find them by now.

Why on earth would they want to hide the most trending threads on Mumsnet from the trending section?

I don't agree it should be removed. The whole case is coming to its conclusion. It's gripping! The whole world needs to know of the appalling treatment of Sandie Peggie and the madness, cruelty and ineptitude that led to this poor woman's situation. She is amazing, as are the women from sex-matters.org/about-us/ who are supporting her. Sandie is holding NHS Fife accountable, and the reason why is important for all women. Just ignore it if you are not interested.

Only the current one will stay in trending, surely? The previous one will fall off.

On the particular threads at issue at most at anytime there will be 2. People may know where to find them, but I for one forget about things and trending / active are helpful when things restart / explode.

No, I have found it very useful having the threads in trending. Clearly lots of people are or it wouldn’t be there!

Surely you just click "Active" and hey presto - you get more than five threads to choose from.

Kinda defeating the object of the trending board which is there to get people clicking on trending topics.

And it is trending due to utter clusterfuck of an NHS dept standing on rake after rake smacking themselves in the face at every turn.

Certain posters are boosting it constantly that's why. I am sure many are getting weary of the story though. I don't know anyone IRL discussing it, for example.

That a site which is about growing/birthing/rasing humans has threads about an NHS employer who has multiple staff who cant work out if a person is female or male and some work in A&E?

Or that loads of the posters are working and dont expect that providing a strip show is part of their contract?

Shitmonger they are there because its a hot topic as people are engaging with them.

Whereas I know loads of people who are discussing it in IRL so....It's covered by major news networks and just about every newspaper. If you're not interested, just don't click on the thread. I'm not interested in Harry &Meghan threads but when they are trending, I just, you know, don't read them.

You do you. It’s a major conversation topic round these parts. I am gripped by it and happy for the trending section to continue to show all the trending threads thanks.

Why don't you just hide the thread? That's what the function is there for.

Oh I know, it's just in every newspaper, on the tv, being discussed in Parliament, is having opinion pieces written about it, all over social media, being covered by tribunal tweets as part of Open Justice and there is a 30+ megathread on here.

Ridiculous request. It’s trending because it’s outrageous and it’s happening right now - censoring it trending is another version of erasure for Sandie Peggie who is having her life upended in public to protect other women.

Let it all trend! Let women get curious and click and know exactly what’s going on in Fife.

On 18 July 2025, NHS Fife released a media statement that referenced the Commissioner's Decision 133/2025. In response, Scottish Information Commissioner, David Hamilton said,
“The petulant tone of NHS Fife’s latest statement is quite remarkable but it is the contents that concern me most. They have now cast doubt upon the assurances they gave me regarding compliance with my Decision Notice. I will investigate further and if the Authority has not indeed fully complied with my Decision then I may report the matter to the Court of Session as a contempt of court.”

I don’t think anyone should be “policing” what is and what isn’t allowed on trending. There’s only ever one Fife thread at a time (the current one) on trending. It’s not as if the last five Five threads are all there! Yes it’s a fast moving thread(s) so there are lots of threads but that’s because there’s a lot going on.

If you’re not interested don’t click on it. I really can’t see how it affects you. There’s plenty of stuff in “trending” every day which i don’t click on as I know i wouldn’t be interested.

The only reason many don't want it trending is because it's Fife being discussed. Most folk probably have never even heard of it let alone the topic being discussed about that health board!

Out in the real world, a lot of people are discussing it. Because it matters.

If you don't wabt to read the threads, just scroll down and carry on. Job done.

So it would be OK if it was Lothian NHS or Berkshire NHS (no idea if that exists). It's the concept of Fife that you object to?
