Thread Deleted ( Parts 1,2,3, and 4)

I saw that thread 4 was deleted with the message
about breaking Mumsnet guidelines.
The 3 previous threads were deleted too.

Which guidelines were broken?

There are also subreddits set up for people to laugh at mumsnet. They like to play little games like seeing whether they'll be spotted as a troll, how outrageous they need to be before we twig, or as I suspect in this case, seeing if they can set a record for how many responses they can get.

I read thread one and didn’t twig - it was really quite mundane - bloke plays football and is a dickhead, did it escalate from there?

It was so clear, the way it constantly escalated and the OP kept saying but should I stay while the supposed behaviour escalated.

I reported it to MN and said it wasn't even hidden with how obviously fake it was but they clearly left it up for the clicks, which I even suggested in my report. It's clear they won't remove even an obviously fake thread if its driving traffic.

People asked why people care if its fake but some posters invested hours into giving advice, a couple in particular were very vocal on the threads and I felt bad they wasted so much time on what was clearly utter rubbish.

I did not see that one. I looked at the messages for 3 and 4.
Still, I think letting it go to 4 full threads… but as someone said that is a lot of attention and footfall.

Totally. I was stunned when I saw 'she' had a 4th thread. The last post I read on it was from someone telling her she was enjoying the attention. I'll say! What was it? 4 threads in the space of a week?

I think it probably had a modicum of truth at the beginning, maybe the first few posts. OP then gets more attention than she's ever gets in real life, and it goes from there.
As with all of these things it was baffling how it got as far as it did.

Yep, multiple part soap opera style threads usually draw a 🙄 from me too.

I did start wondering once the mil came on the scene. She sounded like a character out of Downton Abbey.

I think I 'unwatched' it half way through the first installment. Thank god I didn't get too invested and waste my time.
I find when you have 50 or 60 people advising you what to do/what not to do, it all gets a bit mad.

That's usually a decent clue.

BUUUUUT maybe the threads, with the many helpful posters, helped real women with lying, cheating dickhead husbands/partners think more clearly about their lives.

That's the point though – the OP never let the threads fill up. Threads 1 and 2 only got to page 20 before the OP started a new one, presumably because they knew a shiny new thread carrying the "drama" on would prompt more engagement.

Never feel bad.

Those posters will have had time to waste, just like all of us when we log into a chat forum.

And of course they know there's always a chance the person they're posting to might not be genuine 🤷‍♂️

Do people get that invested? I reported the thread because it looked dodgy but MNHQ said they couldn’t see a problem. I then engaged on the basis it was probably nonsense but it’s a bit of entertainment

unless it’s a thread that needs facts (eg politics) then I assume it may be all fake drama

Honestly, some MNers are so very gullible. It was so obviously utter claptrap from the outset. Much like one that went on interminably a while ago in a similar vein, over several threads.
