FYI: I've name changed for this to avoid a pile-on.

This post is about the overwhelming negativity and hostility with the FWR board that new posters and posters with a differing viewpoint face if they attempt to use the board.

There is a persistent group within the board that are, to put it simply, hateful towards others. Despite posting there on and off for more than 4 years, I have never felt welcome, despite not holding any particular extreme views or being abusive to others. Without exception, I am accused of being another poster, or a man, a TRA, or some kind of paid activist. This occurs again and again until I leave a thread in frustration.

I’ve seen this happen to many other new posters. Few return. Why would they? Such an acidic atmosphere doesn’t encourage healthy discussion. I’d just like to discuss women’s rights, but this board makes discussion impossible.

I’m not exactly sure what the answer is, except for @MNHQ to request the board to tone down the rhetoric a bit and back off on any new names they may see on the board. Let people engage with you rather than actively drive them away.

OP and anyone else, if you like FWR then feel free to join in, if you don’t then don’t bother - it’s really not any more complicated than that!

But while I’m passing, suggesting Helle is a bully looks very much like it’s a reaction to her being clear, direct and unbelievably well informed. Someone being able to quickly counter your argument with rigorous logic and verified data isn’t being a bully!

On the plus side, this thread is another great example of the tactics used against us. Anyone reading will see that reasonable questions are always dodged and deflected with accusations of nastiness and incivility, and that the opposing side presents no genuine argument at all, yet paradoxically admonishes us for allegedly refusing to engage in civil discussion about these nonexistent points.

Yeah, it's always 'you're all so aggressive and makes for a shit argument, you don't get people to engage, you just insult people' add in whatever deflection insult here. That's their first engagement.

Answer the very simple questions then or go away. It's really not a difficult concept.

I think they're doing the whole "keep repeating that posters are mean nasty bullies over and over in the hopes that any casual lurkers take it on faith without exploring further" thing.

Also I'm not remotely surprised it's run to 33 pages, when the FWR posters get stuck saying the same things over and over again threads quickly fill up.

Why biological men should take part in women’s sports, be present in rape counselling sessions that women want to be women only? Why men should be placed in women’s prisons? Why rape victims should address her attacker as she?

Ultimately can you answer why men with an identity come before women who just want spaces away from men. The nice ones and the bad ones.

No, because people keep plopping on, accusing us of saying things we haven't, or being uncivil, or being too masculine in our posting styles (particularly insane), and just generally misrepresenting us. Should we not defend ourselves?

The discussion evolved to posters slagging off FWR and calling us transphobes and bigots. FWR is about what I just posted. Discussion evolves.

I think they meant the data wasn't the problem, it's the tone it's delivered with. Tone-policing again.

Defend yourselves if you want, but that's not why every thread on FWR is posters asking the questions over and over for 40 pages is it

Pretty sure we're all free to decide what threads we post on @ShireMaiden and can scroll on past the ones we find tedious.
