What is so scary to you about a radical form of politics that aims to create true universal equality?
There is a real issue with antisemitism. There are a lot of people claiming to be on the left who are falling into the trap of aligning themselves with antisemites and with Islamists. If X is anything to go by there are plenty of useful "Liberal idiots" who think themselves left wing by virtue of not being right of centre. They are so invested into the idea of projecting their credentials of morally virtuous intentions that they have subsumed this into their subjective feeling of 'who' they are. What they say becomes who they are in how they view themselves. It reinforces a sense of moral superiority that they feel to be an essential part of their own subjectivity. These liberals who are of the 'be kind' variety lack critical thinking and at present many are aligning themselves with people they perceive to be oppressed minorities. I would argue that anyone on the ultra left shouldn't ignore the threat that Islam poses to liberalism. Liberalism proposes moral relativism whilst Islam is absolutist, never the twain shall meet. As someone on the left I would welcome anything that undermines capitalism and liberalism. Liberalism offers false concepts of equality and capitalism creates materially the conditions that exploit and create inequality between men and women, rich and poor, us and them. But to hop into bed with one tyranny in order to defeat another is a dangerous thing.
We have a problem with immigration. We shouldn't have, and under the right economic social system we wouldn't have. And if it were not for capitalisms tendency to growth, exploitation and imperialism we would have neither people arriving on boats, or idiot flag wavers rioting. But it is very naive to shut down all debate and to exclude those most effected by mass immigration. These far right clowns, beer swilling, fascist twats, jobless chavs, idiots, knuckle draggers, unwashed, unclean rioting in the streets are the same people liberals are at pains to give charity to, show sympathy for, argue on their behalf and yet they despise them and the very notion of these working class people who have become immiserated (just as the liberal MC have become almost religious in their virtue signaling echo chambers) should have any real equality creates hysteria and fear. The liberals are busy shouting for food banks, about benefits and school dinners. In fact anything that sticks a plaster over the problem and keeps them feeling virtuous. An actual revolution that consigned their sympathetic mithering to history is the very last thing they want.
I have studied political economy and philosophy, and mainstream politics doesn't really interest me. In the last 20 years I have come to the conclusion that: Liberalism is on its death bed, and fighting for the future and equality for all does not rely upon aligning ourselves with any new tyranny. The left does not need to align itself with the interests of religious ideologues, and neither should we overlook the dangers of religious hegemony taking place.
As a side note I am chuckling, we have the far right shouting about the fact no one listens despite the fact they have swallowed the racist ideologies of the far right state. A bunch of fascists rioting and calling for the state to be .......more fascist. Punching police officers whilst demanding the police become less ineffectual. And the fascist state clearing up after itself, a bit like a junkie trying to get clean in the full glare of the the other useful idiots who are standing on the sidelines offering up kind and supportive words whilst inwardly passing moral judgment that the likes of Francis Galton and Hitler himself would endorse.
