Why aren’t you banning the far-right agitators?

Deleting their posts but allowing them to keep inciting racial hatred under the same accounts is making the site unusable. Why should we keep reporting them if you’re not going to do anything meaningful about it?

And still these threads are left to fucking stand!

Decent people will start leaving the site soon. The latest two threads are unspeakable.

I am usually up for confronting these people, but I have had enough now. Can't be bothered reporting any longer, either.

Thank you for hiding the most recent one @MNHQ, however It went on for far too long and you really need to take heed of the PM’s words today; you have a responsibility to stamp this out. It’s not good enough to say we need to just keep reporting, I’ve lost count of the number of posts I’ve reported in the last 3 days, but moderation is your responsibility.

This site has been a cesspit since Monday.

If I ran MN I would suspend new membership and the ability to name change for a few days. Maybe suspend all posting for a day. Then have a good look at who is inciting hatred and chuck 'em out.

I don't know if allowing only one thread with a moderator literally sitting on it would work. Although, what is there to say at this point? He's been charged and remanded and quite rightly nothing of absolute fact will be known for a while I imagine. I suppose it would corral the people who are just posting to express their racism and make it easier to spot PBPs, bad faith name changers etc.

I am feeling really depressed about it tbh.

I always knew that we had a racism problem in this country, but when I was younger, I naively believed that progress was being made and that eventually racism would just be something for the history books. But somehow we seem to have gone backwards in the last ten years instead of forwards.

I don't want to just flounce but I am seriously considering whether I need to take a break from MN for the sake of my mental health. It has become so toxic. But the problem is, it isn't just MN, it's everywhere - on the news, all over Twitter etc. I despair at the direction the country is taking.

I would suspend new members ability to NC for much longer than that. And if they needed to NC for personal and difficult reasons, they would have to apply to MNHQ for the go ahead.

There are many forums out there that don't allow any NCing.

I avoid the news where possible, I’m very selective about what/who I follow on SM but have been a daily user of MN for almost 15 years.

What I’ve seen on here this week has made me absolutely despair. I’m trying not to react in anger but I think my time on here is done.

Well that dismisses half the country given people voted left/right in roughly equal numbers at the last election. Nothing ‘inclusive’ about wanting to ban people with ‘conservative leanings’ is there?

This has been an awful few days on here. I think MNHQ has done its best with the resources it has against what at times has felt like a tidal wave of racism, but perhaps they need to consider whether those resources are enough/a different approach.

To anyone who also feels concerned and depressed by all this, best thoughts and wishes.

There have certainly been a lot of nasty far right vultures on here these last few days @dottiehens and it seems MNHQ agree.
