Why did the "Lisa Johnson One to Many" thread get deleted?

PermanentIyExhaustedPigeon · 19/03/2024 18:26

I've seen the deletion message but don't understand why the comments that broke talk guidelines couldn't have been deleted and the rest of the thread left to stand.

Lisa Johnson claims that she had it removed because she put pressure on MN to do so.

Can anyone from MNHQ clarify please?

Please edit, we must stick to facts not name-calling, or she'll get this thread taken down as well.

The other thing we noted was, that a lot of the graduates of Lisa Johnson's One To Many course went on to - show people how to do the same stuff. So, coaches coaching coaches.

Geebray · 21/03/2024 11:33

Going back to Lisa's Success Stories, Helen Thacker and Alex Okell are both teaching others on how to run online courses and subscriptions. It is all very circular...

It is clear however, from Lauren Prentice's Facebook page, that she is an affiliate for - guess what! - Lisa Johnson's One To Many course.

Which brings us to another fact - a lot of the people who take Lisa's course seem to end up being affiliates for her. Which seemed, to many of us, a lot like a MLM model.

Facebook

Affiliate marketing and MLM are different things. You don't have to be an affiliate for OTM to make money. You can do the course and make money from what you learn from the course on it's own merits. There are many people who make money who aren't an affiliate for OTM.

Looking at the success stories on YouTube and a quick search at their social media there are many that were interviewed and weren't affiliates

PP simply said that they seemed similar.

Interesting that you've joined MN just to post on this thread @NimbleRaven

TheShellBeach · 21/03/2024 11:54

Can anyone help?

Where can I find some unbiased reviews, good or bad, for the OTM course?

Ah - a prime example of my earlier comment @TheShellBeach - that people who aren't defending Lisa aren't jumped upon. Funny you didn't react to Lurking Lark the same way. 👀

Geebray · 21/03/2024 11:57

Let's not accuse people of anything. That's how Lisa got the last thread taken down.

Let's just engage with people fairly.

But that's because I recognise the various user names from the deleted thread.

You don't have to recruit people to make money from an MLM, in theory. You can sell actual stuff. But what you end up doing is trying to enlist more people via being an affiliate. Just like with Lisa.

What's interesting about Lisa Johnson's One To Many course is just how many graduates end up either trying to create and sell similar time-limited online courses, or trying to set up a subscription of some type, or end up being a OTM affiliate.

So it's either coaches coaching coaches, or selling Lisa's course. It's very hard, even with the "success stories" she has quoted, to find anyone making any money in any other way. Or even in those ways...

Plenty of success stories on YouTube to negate this.

A photographer teaching how to take better group shots.

A menopause expert helping people navigate menopause

A PR expert helping businesses get in the media

Thats just the first three I looked at.

The course is sold on the premise that it teaches you to go from a 1-1 business model to a 1-many and that the best way to do that is through online courses and memberships

Axx · 21/03/2024 12:14

The law of averages would mean that at least some of those taking the course would have some success surely? You'd hope so anyway

Geebray · 21/03/2024 12:18

Where would I find those people on YouTube? Because I've just looked at a testimonial video for Lisa's course, and at least one of them is one of her affiliates. Quite a high profile one.

ADoggyDogWorld · 21/03/2024 12:18

I have NO IDEA what's going on.

On Lisa's YouTube. There is a whole playlist of interviews and success stories

The question is whether those people had already done all the market research needed BEFORE doing her course.
How many had a successful business already and build up from that vs those who really properly started from scratch.

richardhoymanwantshisknickersback · 21/03/2024 12:38

To quote the beautiful Nikki Grahame, "who is she? Who is she?"
Never heard of Lisa Johnson in my puff and happily have no desire to know.

Geebray · 21/03/2024 12:43

Anybody can say anything. Lauren Prentice says she turned over £3 million on her theatre ticket membership after doing the OTM course - which would be major news in the industry. But nobody can find any evidence of it whatsoever.

LolaSmiles · 21/03/2024 12:58

I didn't see the earlier thread and I've never heard of this person or business, but have been interested in content about MLM, coaches coaching coaches, people selling courses to tell other people to sell courses on how to sell courses.

There's probably a lot of people now who are interested in a business that would have passed us by.
