Why did the "Lisa Johnson One to Many" thread get deleted?

PermanentIyExhaustedPigeon · 19/03/2024 18:26

I've seen the deletion message but don't understand why the comments that broke talk guidelines couldn't have been deleted and the rest of the thread left to stand.

Lisa Johnson claims that she had it removed because she put pressure on MN to do so.

Can anyone from MNHQ clarify please?

So, MN, why didn't you just delete the comments that you deemed to be against your guidelines? Why did you cave and pull the whole thread?

Because the comments probably weren’t against talk guidelines.

Didn’t see the thread but hilarious that LJ thinks this is against the odds. This has happened several times on MN and they do remove threads. IME it’s usually a massive red flag to avoid whoever it is that has asked for the thread to be removed. Nobody above board needs to ask for all negative comments about them to be removed from the internet.

No indeed.

I don't know who Lisa Johnson is but it sounds like I missed lots of fun!

Same

CatLevelCare · 19/03/2024 19:34

Don't know who she is so went straight to google. First thing I saw was:
TV anti-bullying campaigner wins £60,000 after suing rival businesswoman for libel when she made comments about her on Facebook
This might give a clue why the thread was deleted?

EveryDayIsASchoolDayOnMN · 19/03/2024 19:39

Waiting for this to get deleted due to being a TAAT!

She showed her true colours. She truly did.

She claimed that 60 people had signed up to the OTM course as a result of the thread.

Yeah, right.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/03/2024 20:30

I know nothing about this business or its owner, and don't want to know either, but it sounds like the Streisand effect.

Yeah, right.

If that was true then surely she would have wanted the thread to stay up?!

More advertising for her - even more than the alleged 60 new sign ups

Well yes, but the OP of the thread then found that LJ had kicked her off the course before she'd even started, and refunded her two grand.

You couldn't make it up.

Then LJ started writing stuff on her FB page, being very rude about MNetters.

RafaistheKingofClay · 19/03/2024 20:38

I don’t want to get this thread deleted (it probably will be anyway TAAT) but is the LJ thread the one where the OP was thinking of signing up to something couldn’t find any negative reviews online only positive ones? This would explain a lot.

Yarp, that's the one

So what do I do with the downloaded thread? Can it be archived somewhere?

Can you keep it as a file on your PC?

Lisa Johnson called Mumsnet a "gossip site" frequented by "lowlifes" who "have nothing about them".

No libel there. She stated it in her Facebook group.

TheShellBeach · 19/03/2024 21:10

Oh well, if I needed a course in how to teach courses couched in word salad, I'd send my two grand immediately.

Yes, she was happy enough to sign up 60 🤔 people paying
£2,000 for her course for which entries were ending a couple of days later, as a result of that thread. Very gleeful, she was.

But the thread continued and then she started calling Mumsnetters "lowlifes", and got the thread pulled.

If you'd made £120,000 from a thread, wouldn't you want it to stay up? To make even more money?

TheShellBeach · 19/03/2024 21:31

You'd think so, wouldn't you?

Maybe she wasn't keen on some of us not being keen on her course........

TwoWhatnots · 19/03/2024 21:53

With the thread entirely gone there’s no evidence either way on the alleged sexism, hateful bullying, lies, jealousy, sock puppeting competitors and so on.

Only Lisa’s representations remain publicly visible and searchable in the many posts on her Facebook page.

Recollections may vary.

Such a pity mnhq were not able to identify and remove only the comments that had potential to be actually libellous.

Geebray · 19/03/2024 22:21

Mumsnet, what would be great - and fair! - would be if you could reinstate the thread, and just take down the posts you feel would be found libellous in a court of law. There were plenty of posts that weren't.

MegMarchHare · 19/03/2024 22:25

Never heard of her before, but based on this she sounds nuts.

Is that libel?

Therewasalittlegirl77 · 19/03/2024 23:40

I found it very concerning and uncomfortable to find the whole post had been taken down but I’m relieved it’s been picked back up as this felt like censorship and as far as I am aware we do not live in a Dictatorship. I too was considering contacting MNHQ directly for further information surrounding the deleted thread as it does not feel right. I absolutely agree that anything that could be deemed as defamation / libel etc is not appropriate and I would not wish to be a part of anything like that and should always be removed but disagreeing with someone is not defamation is it? Is it?? Even MORE interested now to hear what the London Barrister makes of all this who was hopefully going to review the whole thread after allegations of defamation being made.

Comfysock · 20/03/2024 07:26

Has anyone heard from MNet?
