UPDATE FROM MNHQ - new Hidden Gratitude feature

Today we’re launching a new feature called Hidden Gratitude. We’ve had many requests over the years for a like button on Mumsnet but shared concerns that some have expressed about it being a bit reductive and possibly turning discussions into a popularity contest.

Nonetheless, we think it would be nice to be able to thank posters for a particularly helpful or generous post. Hidden Gratitude is an easy way to show appreciation but as the name suggests, there will be no publicly visible 'like' count, only the user who has been given thanks can see it.

All you need to do is hit the “thanks” icon on the post you want to appreciate. The poster will receive a notification which will let them know who has “thanked” them. That’s it!

And, before you ask - at the time of writing we have no plans to introduce a hidden ingratitude button…

When you click 'Thanks' on a post, are you seeing the icon in bold?

I don't see anything all, both action and icon are unresponsive.

Clicked Thanks on your post, nothing visible on my end.
If it helps the detective work, when I click Thanks on my own post, I do get the wee popup saying you can't Thank yourself!

I don't know how to do that. Besides, there is literally nothing to see! My finger moving, tapping, and absolutely nothing happening.

Perhaps someone else with the same issue could do one?

Aarg! Well, if wasn't a MN fix, then at various times today I deleted the MN cookie, restarted my tablet, and logged out and back in to MN. Maybe the conjunction of all 3 plus whatever HQ is doing?

I'm still ridiculously excited to see the icon change for me, though obviously it would be better if it showed you too!

i can’t access anything behind the ellipses. I used to be able to but it’s stopped recently.

i can access the options at bottom of each post though.
