It's the persistent abuse that irks me. If someone was warned on the other areas - for personal attack , language etc - and reoffended they'd be banned .

no didn't mean you knickers! Meant those who abuse the For Sale?/Wanted/Free by repeatedly defying the guidelines of a few weeks back

well what they seem to be doing is operating on the basis that because MNHQ hasn't yet made it official that they can do what they want. which is undeniably true, but it also underlines the fact that they don't feel they have any community responsibility to this place.

oh ffs, MN should just sack it, look at the problems ebay is having with scammers and feedback etc, MNHQ doesn't have those resources. so if there's no sense of community there (because the wider MN posting groups don't feel that it's a part of their site any more) and they won't self-police until forced to (like bloody children) than it'll just have to boil itself away in recriminations, vendettas and bad feeling.

I was a staunch supporter of the 'mn needs all the traffic, hide the threads and let them at it' angle of this debate but now I actually agree with aitch's points. It is going to end in tears, possibly expensive tears, get rid and those 'for salers' who miss the camaraderie of the for sale section can join in the rest of the board.

I have been Bounty forum and I saw a couple of posters claim that they 'moonlight' on Mumsnet sale boards...so your allegations are not unfounded.

I did a quick search, and found someone on bounty who lists their sole dislike as 'nasty horrid people like the ones on Mumsnet' (I may have paraphrased there). Her hobby is swapping buggies...

On a more positive note, some people are trying to keep the for sale board's relatively sane. here. If they could keep up the good work, and set to on the picture trails too, this might just work...
