Please could MNHQ (I know you are busy and on holiday and I am sorry) put a couple of interim guidelines as a sticky at the top of the board and see how it goes..

a - Please state what you are selling in the thread title

b - please do not relist anything for "x" days (5?, 7?)

c - This is not the place for selling on 57 BNWT (or in presentation boxes) items that are exactly the same

d - we would like it if you did not use CAPS or %%%$$$£££^!!! symbols

Knickers, I've given up even bothering with tryign to talk to anyone who posts a thread which seems to be misuse of the for sale boards, as soon as you point something out you become one of 'them' that doesn't 'go on for sale anyway' so of course 'why would you care'.

I would use them, but I think Aicth said further down about the little round robin emails of the 'bad' MNers that she was on and I can't imagine I'd get the greatest response if I tried to buy off there tbh.
I've looked at goodness knows how many for sale threads and thought about buyng from them, then couldn't be bothered with it all and cleared off to ebay.

Knickers I really agree with what you said on the for sale board today, I also thought it was a bit sad when I saw that message which suggested she only joined to sell stuff.
Not sure this whole issue is ever going to resolve itself...

No I don't think you read it wrong, I think she said she joined to sell/clear her clutter, and I think that is pretty clear.
It's a shame that there are so many on the for sale boards who don't realise there is much more to MN than buying and selling...

A quick update with regard to our as yet unfulfilled promise to seperate the For sale/ wanted boards into categories: we have run into a bit a of an ishoo. Rest assured though, beloved Tech is looking at it and we'll get back to you with a progress report asap.

Yes these are good interim guidelines. Thank you we'll add them, probably tomorrow now. As a rule we're not keen on too many rules as you may know because folks tend to find ways around them and we end up with even more cross Mumsnetters - but guidelines are good and we agree that some are needed.

We are still looking at alternative solutions too.
