TW, I'd like to use them.

Threadworm · 12/02/2008 11:23

sorry, x-post.

JeremyVile · 12/02/2008 11:25

No Hunker, you asked me specifically about my comment re for salers not posting outside FS. I answered and asked you a question on the same point.
Unless, I am very much confused, whether or not FluffyMcHunForSale posts anywhere but for sale cant possibly mean you can't post on for sale. can it?

BabiesEverywhere · 12/02/2008 11:29

Lovely Bounty Lady Not sure whether to be cross or proud

hunkermunker · 12/02/2008 11:29

I don't feel very welcome there, JV.

And since nobody I "know" from the rest of MN bothers to look in For Sale, I'd be wasting my time, I think, because they're a cliquey lot on FS.

JeremyVile · 12/02/2008 11:30

Anyway, I'm off - but I would like to know what your ultimate aim is in forcing For Salers to post on the rest of the site.

hunkermunker · 12/02/2008 11:32

Community spirit, innit.

JeremyVile · 12/02/2008 11:32

You've tried to buy or sell and they have made it difficult for you?

hunkermunker · 12/02/2008 11:33

Yes, I've tried to buy.

And I can't see what they've got for sale at a glance and any request to put what they have for sale in the thread title is met with abuse.

So yes, they've made it difficult for me! And not just me - I'm not the only one this has happened to!

Hnybnch · 12/02/2008 11:34

Hunker I'm not "having a go" at you inparticular, I'm saying that no-one other than MNHQ can go on peoples threads and "make" them start posting in the correct places! once MN make these rules will people start listening!

Why not wait for MN to enforce their rules instead of "suggesting" it to people on their threads?

Laplin If that is the case then why are the rules only being changed in For Sale? Like you say rules for everywhere should be the same.

OP posts:
Hnybnch · 12/02/2008 11:38

Hunker noone stops you using for sale?

And I feel the same as you, I don't feel welcomed anywhere else but For sale!

How has it been made difficult for you to buy things?

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 12/02/2008 11:39

I don't want to read every thread to see what's for sale. It's time-consuming and soul-sapping.

Hnybnch, how are you not welcome on the rest of MN? And if there's no "them and us" why are you only welcome on For Sale, which is meant to be a transactions-only kinda place, no?

Hnybnch · 12/02/2008 11:47

But why does it have to be seen as a "transaction only" place? I have made friends on there whom I like to chat with, it kinda makes for sale better? IMO

The issues with not knowing what people selling are surely issues of the seller? If people don't know whats for sale they won't look in the thread, if buyers can clearly see what is for sale and are interested they will read the thread.

Like I said previously, hopefully when MN issue the new rules this will change and things will be posted in correct areas.

Titles should'nt be a problem as they are catagorising(sp)!

BabiesEverywhere · 12/02/2008 11:47

I agree with Hunker, it isn't very welcoming with loads of trails etc to wade though

However I did meet a nice lady called BlackCat whilst looking for nappies, so there are lovely people on the sale boards

I didn't say "I'm not" welcome on the rest of Mn simply that "I don't feel welcome".

I do however enjoy reading threads on various topics, just not very good at giving advice. I find the advice given on here usually covers any Q's I have regarding various issues.

Why does it have to be seen as a transaction only place?

Because it's called "For Sale".

Much like "Weaning" is seen as a place to talk about weaning.

And yes, it's up to the person selling whether they want to put their items in the thread title...

Aitch · 12/02/2008 12:27

well hnybnch, i'm now in a position where having done nothing wrong whatsoever i feel i can't use For Sale at all. and it's got nothing to do with the bumps, thread titles, picturetrails etc and everything to do with the fact that when i politely asked someone to 'perhaps' 'consider' putting what they were selling on their thread 'next time', i got flamed by a truckload of For Salers who all came onto the thread to say that my name had been circulated via email as someone who was etc etc blah blah blah.

i'm quite sure that hunker, VS, fletch, lapin etc are subject to the same discussion (does it take place on Bounty, i wonder?)

so i see on the site stuff section that some changes have been made, and enquire what they are and proffer an explanation as to why it might appear different to some and not others, and yet i was jumped on again. hmmmmmm.

now i know that you've apologised for that and i accept it, but given that there was nothing in my post that warranted a kicking i rather suspect that you barely read it before responding. you also said that i'd been very rude to you before and promised to link to it but couldn't find anything.

all this them and us stuff, it's true at the moment. it's not savoury, it's not particularly adult, but it does exist and having been at the receiving end of it, it's not only one-sided. it's not in the spirit of MN at all... shame you couldn't see the A&C thread, you'd have seen me arguing strongly that it has to be the same rule for all of us and any selling shoudl be done on For Sale.

it's just ironic that having previously been vocal campaigner to keep For Sale, i now feel that if i have anything to buy or sell i have nowehre else to go by ebay. and i know who i hold responsible for that.

MamaG · 12/02/2008 12:31

I'm increasingly of the opinion that we shouljd just fucking scrap it

Maybe MNHQ should do a poll asking all mners if they want the for sale to stay or go .

That way we all have a fair vote and then MNHQ get a good idea of what everyone on MN wants.

I personally want them gone especially after reading this thread and seeing the attitude of certain people .

For sale should just be to sell things you no longer need or your LO has outgrown.

Chat should be for chat.

Hnybnch · 12/02/2008 23:49

Lapin err no I can't! And never said it was!

Aitch still see no reason why you can't use for sale? And I did see the a&c thread!

Don't judge what I have seen/read or who I am!
Dunno what you are on about re: jumping you on a thread? I haven't?

Like you said I apologised? Why mention other thread? I'M not on there
jumping on you?
