AM, mumsnet.com is a whole site - why do you want to segregate yourselves off so much?

Hardly a welcoming attitude! I have got stacks of stuff I could sell (two boys now grown out of everything 0-2 related, clothes, toys, etc) but I'm going to do one massive car boot sale in the spring because I cannot be arsed with selling on here and all the she said you said I said stuff.

Think there should be a limit in number of "live" For Sale threads started by any one poster to avoid the repetition such as highlighted by Babies Everywhere, although I expect there would simply be namechanging to get around it.

btw AM why are posters , especially disgruntled ones, not using Feedback Forum to chase/comment rather than starting FAO... threads in For Sale and Wanted ?

Yeah but hunker that is YOUR CHOICE. My choice is to post in for sale as that is what i'm doing - selling. I have also posted in chat because i wanted to chat. I think it should be noted by mnhq that the majority of the people who use 'for sale' do not like the new layout.

LIZS, i don't know why people are not using Feedback Forum, I know that I do. Probably because if there is an FAO post the person is more likely to see it in there than going into a diffent section.

Each MNer should be allowed to post 20 or so 'for sale' threads per year.
That should be enough for people to sell on their unwanted items to other parents - which is the ethos of the board.
And it should weed out the people who use 'for sale' to flog their wholesale stuff, and who abuse the facility.

Soupy, they can't bump their threads to the top of the list , it is ordered by date started. As long as they were to add each to their Watch list or use Threads I'm On it should n't be an issue ...

littlelapin, i agree with some of your points but i find mostly that the people who are calling others 'huns' and 'regulars' thus creating the them and us image, comes from people who mainly post on chat. Also alot of people are put off posting chat because the 'others' know that we mainly post on for sale and it seems to be a thread killer. I mostly post on for sale because i'm talking about buying and selling!

Surely by "chat" you mean "the rest of the talk boards". They don't only post in a single topic.

yes i can clearly see that and i wonder why for sale has closed ranks, because of bloody threads like this!

littlelapin - if you have a look at the start of this thread and also in for sale, you will find that alot of people on for sale do not like the new style. I for one don't like it.

You know what, I have no idea who is a regular For Saler - because I rarely venture over there - so this "ooh, the rest of the boards are scary, we'll get shouted at, it's safe in For Sale" is largely bollocks.

Of course, if you have a lunatic opinion on something, you'll get MN's own brand of disagreement in response, but it won't be because you're a For Saler, it'll be because you're a lunatic

Okay so we've all had our rants, can we all now shake hands and post wherever the bloody hell we like. Like i said before it's tit for tat, whats right for one is wrong for the other and vice versa. I don't think this issue will ever be resolved, it will be an ongoing debate that no-one will be able to sort.

I started a "for sale chat" on the chat thread a couple of months ago, even linked to it on the FS board, but nobody posted Its a lost cause.
