I like the absence of bumps only took me a few minuteto scan down the list for nappies for sale, plus when I go on tomorrow I only have to check the top few new threads, so I won't miss anything.

Plus the sale huns have already got a chat thread going and hopefully this will be the push they need to explore the rst if mumsnet and hopefully become full members chatting on all sort of topics

Mumsnet, Can ALL CAPS TITLES be banned, they are the remaining eye sore and harder to read on the sale board.

rst if = rest of

Aitch · 11/02/2008 09:06

i look forward to seeing her on Chat, then... apparently it's totally fine to take grievances from one thread to another now.

i was really fookin' cross about that last night, actually, it so dramatically missed the point. we should keep separate? should we fuck. this is MN, not ebay.

oooh. seems i'm still angry about it, actually.

turquoise · 11/02/2008 09:06

Hnybnch's reply to Aitch's reasonable and helpful suggestion at 00.18.28 is a perfect example of what,IMO, is the problem with 'for sale': they contribute nothing to the mumsnet community as a whole but aggro.

If it was abandoned altogether then in the future regular mners could occasionally put the odd for sale item in chat or similar, to sell to other regular mners in the spirit originally intended.

thanks turquoise, and yes, knickers, i agree. it's rude and unnecessary. regs and huns etc is divisive, which is not the point of MN.

To the untrained eye they do look the same (the classifieds), but (there is a but) because you can do longer bump your threads up;

  1. People are relisting their items again every day, or 2 or 3 times a day in some cases. Major Deja Vu!
  2. It now makes me want not want to bother looking through as it seems harder to follow (but I have been ill all week and any changes when i'm not well are not good!). Not wanting to bother is a good thing for my banl blance as it will stop me spending!
  3. The amount of FAOs the other day! I think at one point, half the first page ws just FAOs!
  4. Oh, and apparently it's not easy for people accessing the site on a phone and I presume on a PSP like I will be in a few weeks time! Can't wait for that one!

The only funny thing about the change is the people who don't realise that it has changed and continue to bump.

BexieID · 11/02/2008 10:20

Major typo alert! Nevermind, i'm still not 100% well.

DualCycloneCod · 11/02/2008 10:21

just BAN THEM

judt hide the topic fgs

DualCycloneCod · 11/02/2008 10:21

Personally I like it better the way it is now. It means I no longer have to trawl to the bottom of the page looking for something and now don't have to miss any posts. It is much easier to follow and no need for any bumps.

much better

ZippiBabes · 11/02/2008 10:42

those fao threads are daft surely once you have answered an ad and said you are interested you can email each other

BexieID · 11/02/2008 10:42

I think I like it better, but it's a bit boring though.

lecohen · 11/02/2008 12:08

Hi all,

I am not 100% sure what has changed but I am not happy with the layout of the for sale board as posts disappear...could we not have a few pages instead of 1 and also, why is it when I post on a thread, it still stays at the bottom and then disappears? Even when I look at threads I have posted on, it only gives me the last few and now I can't find or remember who I have bought from etc.

It would be nicer also if there were sub categories

eg:

Baby/child

Household

Other

Or something like that

Many thanks for the opportunity to give my thoughts.

BexieID · 11/02/2008 12:23

There is more than one page and there will be sub-categories in the near future.

Why is it that these post always end up in some kind of row and slagging off of people carnt people just get along. the forsale board is a pain in the arse the way it is so boring and there is no banter except one post where can do that, why does it have to be changed, it has made it worse cause people are posting single items now, so that means that your post goes further down the board, its not doing what it was supposed to do in which was make it farer for the seller and stop people bumping there threads. At least when it was the original way we knew where we were and was it that bad.

I did notice the other day that someone had done a post asking why the threads hadnt moved - this was a genuine thread, again she just got some snotty and uncalled for remarks from the people who want the board taken away - this want really called for, fgs they got what they wanted didnt they mnhq singled out the for sale and made the changes that THEY suggested and now no one is happy.

Just change the boards back to the original way and then leave out of active convos that would make everyone happy.
