Scam diversions/pop-ups

When on MN, I keep getting diverted to a website telling me that my McAfee sub has expired, & click on the link to renew.

I do use McAfee, but it has not expired.

I ONLY get this on MN , despite having c.20 other windows open.
Anyone else get this scam via MN ?

I've now started receiving junk emails from a fake MacAfee email address. Are they linked to the pop up?

I've been getting these too for the last couple of days. It's terrible.

I had it yesterday. Edge & Windows 11. My security threw me out of Mumsnet & said it was unsafe.

Just now on Windows 11 Edge, and had this warning.

@JoMumsnet this is seriously worrying!! One of these pop ups comes up every few minutes at the moment which is annoying enough, but if it is actually harmful, I'm sorry I won't be using MN until you've sorted it

Apologies if it's been mentioned and I haven't seen it. Also apologies if this has already been tried by posters, but on googling "stopping cdn.net pop ups" in MS Edge, the following is given: support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/block-pop-ups-in-microsoft-edge-1d8ba4f8-f385-9a0b-e944-aa47339b6bb5

My understanding is that a recent Windows update actually reset the blocking pop-up default to "no" and it might be necessary to change it to "yes"

Again, sorry if I'm over-simplifying what is clearly a real issue.

I am using Chrome and not Edge and I am having awful problems so maybe it is not just an Edge thing, it is a Windows thing. This is the ONLY site I am having problems on.

It's the only site I'm having issues on too.

Snap, no other site is affected.

And I'm on Firefox so definitely not just an Edge thing. It's also the only site affected for me too

This has now happened to me 7 times this morning. All I’ve been doing is reading the forums.

It’s happened 3 times while I’ve been trying to write this message meaning that the site is unusable and dangerous.

It’s taken me to adblockpro – again, uk.yahoo.com/?p=us
and another site that I moved away from so quickly that I didn’t have time to note it.

I think it’s happening when the advert in the side-bar changes.

Just had this one a few seconds ago, seconds after coming onto mn again.

The big red "site is unsafe" website.

Big red Mcafee "site is unsafe" one again.

Twice in less than 4 minutes.

A new one - "update available, flash drive".

I'm off to a different site where I don't feel like I've been hacked every 5 minutes (literally).

It's happening lots this afternoon, Windows 11, Edge. Various different ones, not just the Macafee

We haven't got an update yet as we are still investigating - sorry about that.
Can we ask, has anyone tried clearing their cache - and if not, would you be able to give it a go?

Also, we know this is a tricky one, but if anyone happens to catch a screen recording of it happening then please email it over to [email protected].

We're having a difficult time replicating, so this would be a big help.
