Who'd like to try out a new Dyson vacuum cleaner?

CarrieMumsnet · 04/02/2008 11:43

We've been asked by Dyson to find 20 volunteers to test out a couple of brand new vacuum cleaners. To be eligible for the trial you need to do most of your own hoovering (so maybe it's time to give the cleaner a holiday ) and be able to collect your machine from Dyson's London or Wiltshire offices and stay for a brief demo.

If you like the machine you will be free to keep it. All we ask is that you agree to give feedback on an open section of Talk (that we'll set up in a couple of weeks time) and join in an online focus group (basically an online chat) with the Dyson engineers to tell them what you really think.

We're hoping to get all our volunteers in place by the end of the week, so if you're interested please sign up here

oh effing, bloody men. So sodding typical. DH had initally agreed to take Monday the 25th off (couldn't collect this week as I'm away) so that I could go down to London on the train to pick it up.

I'd arranged with Camilla when I was going before I came away - now DH has just sent me a text telling me he's got a meeting next Monday (which HE will have arranged).....which means he won't be taking the day off and I can't go and pick up the vacuum.

Now I'm stuck without my email, unable to contact them to let them know I can't do it any more - am completely gutted and

oh dear perhaps you will be able to sort something out

What are the ones like that were collected today?

ShinyDysonHereICome · 18/02/2008 23:16

Call Camilla tomorrow; I'm sure she will try and sort something out- she is incredibly helpful

FAQ · 19/02/2008 08:38

Shiny I can't call her - I don't have her number - all the details are in the emails that are at home - currently on DB's computer.

ShinyDysonHereICome · 19/02/2008 08:51

Would you like me to call on your behalf and see what she can do?

ShinyDysonHereICome · 19/02/2008 08:53

I could post her number on here but not sure that's a really good idea.

Do you have access to email right now? I'm happy to post my address on here as I have an account just for 'posting' use!

WideWebWitch · 19/02/2008 08:54

Carrie, can you get Firmdale hotels to want a similar sized group of volunteers?

FAQ · 19/02/2008 09:47

Shiny TBH I'm not sure there's much she could do - he can't take any other day off next week - so I'd be unable to go down any day to pick it up and have the demonstration.

If you could call her and tell her that I'm really sorry but I'll have to pull out I'd be very grateful (but bitterly disappointed).

ShinyDysonHereICome · 19/02/2008 12:17

Calling now- but I shall see if there is any way she could courier it to you and have an online chat with you or something

ShinyDysonHereICome · 19/02/2008 12:20

FAQ can you email me: [email protected]

I have good news for you

wannaBe · 19/02/2008 12:47

have had to forego mine as well - gutted. But was unable to get a lift down to office to collect, so have emailed to suggest maybe someone who missed out can be given the chance .

ShinyDysonHereICome · 19/02/2008 13:00

Oh what a shame Give Camilla a call- she might be able to sort something.

sugarpear · 19/02/2008 13:18

only just found this would have loved to tried it out. I have a dyson washing machine and i love that.

wannaBe · 19/02/2008 13:21

have spoken to her sd she's sorting it for me .

Have often looked at those dyson washing machines - are they any good? they always looked a bit space age to me .

sugarpear · 19/02/2008 13:23

No they are similar size to normal ones they just look massive. From what i know you cant actually buy them any more.

Had mine near on 6 years and its done 7500 washes!

Any hoovers still going?

ShinyDysonHereICome · 19/02/2008 13:29

They have display washing machines there at the HQ- they really do look amazing!

Am now a dyson convert LOL

sugarpear · 19/02/2008 13:31

When my eventually gives up i will go for a miele unless dyson bring out a new washing machine by then.

Swaliswan · 19/02/2008 13:37

I don't suppose that there is still chanced to try out one of these dyson's? We could pick one up from Wiltshire. DH isn't convinced that Dyson's are that good but I loved my mum's original DC04.

wannaBe · 19/02/2008 13:38

I need a new washing machine. I can remember when i first got mine thinking how quiet it was. Now I have t shut the doors when it's on a spin cycle as it sounds like it's going to take off .

Have always been a dyson vacume convert as my mum bought her first one out of the innovations catalogue (probably the only decent thing to ever come out of the innovations catalogue ) and it was fab at picking up the dog hair so that was me sold.

ShinyDysonHereICome · 19/02/2008 13:39

I think MNHQ already have a 'waiting list' of people to contact should anybody drop out.

I've just ordered an AEG washer/dryer whcih reviewed well so am keeping all things crossed- spin is a 1600 but meant to be quietish.....

OliviaMumsnet · 19/02/2008 14:05

Hi FAQ, has this all been sorted?

ShinyDysonHereICome · 19/02/2008 14:07

Olivia I have a message for her from Camilla- will email it to you shortly; if you are able tp pass it on that would be great
