Who'd like to try out a new Dyson vacuum cleaner?

We've been asked by Dyson to find 20 volunteers to test out a couple of brand new vacuum cleaners. To be eligible for the trial you need to do most of your own hoovering (so maybe it's time to give the cleaner a holiday ) and be able to collect your machine from Dyson's London or Wiltshire offices and stay for a brief demo.

If you like the machine you will be free to keep it. All we ask is that you agree to give feedback on an open section of Talk (that we'll set up in a couple of weeks time) and join in an online focus group (basically an online chat) with the Dyson engineers to tell them what you really think.

We're hoping to get all our volunteers in place by the end of the week, so if you're interested please sign up here

I think if you have to ask it's probably too far away to go to collect a vacuum cleaner, but, as I had to go and look up exactly where it was myself here's their tourist site and here's their wiki entry. HTH!

We've had such a massive response to this appeal that we're going to move on in the next half hour to the names out of the hat bit. Those who've been chosen will be contacted in the next day or so (apologies in advance to all those who will be disappointed. Please don't be cross with us if you don't get picked, we promise it's nothing personal )

I live near the WIlshire one and have applied. And attending a demo of vacuum cleaners would be DS's idea of heaven - he's obsessed with the things (he's 2.2)!

could all go to the pub before hand Probably best not to go after as a bunch of women with Dyson hoovers will look like a 'meet once a month' group with a hoover fetish

I thought I'd got an email from them yesterday when I saw 'dyson' as I scanned my inbox
But it was a rogue freecycle 'wanted' email.

I got all excited for about 3 seconds.

Emails will be wending their way today, there was - in usual Mumsnet fashion - a slight delay in the hat ceremony, but the names were pulled by end of Tues. Apologies to all those disappointed but there will be a bumper Dyson comp coming and if you win that you won't even have to pick it up and have the demo.

Just seen this, for Dyson's info I would have loved to try a new one out as they never get it quite right for me and it's so frustrating! So those of you checking it out please do a thorough job before they let it loose on the unsuspecting public. They are not cheap and then you can't exactly take it back because you don't like certain things about it so find I have to stick with it until I can finally claim it does not work anymore to justify replacing it!
