Who'd like to try out a new Dyson vacuum cleaner?

CarrieMumsnet · 04/02/2008 11:43

We've been asked by Dyson to find 20 volunteers to test out a couple of brand new vacuum cleaners. To be eligible for the trial you need to do most of your own hoovering (so maybe it's time to give the cleaner a holiday ) and be able to collect your machine from Dyson's London or Wiltshire offices and stay for a brief demo.

If you like the machine you will be free to keep it. All we ask is that you agree to give feedback on an open section of Talk (that we'll set up in a couple of weeks time) and join in an online focus group (basically an online chat) with the Dyson engineers to tell them what you really think.

We're hoping to get all our volunteers in place by the end of the week, so if you're interested please sign up here

FAQ · 07/02/2008 16:08

Shiny - I'm in Northamptonshire - am planning on training down to London (or getting a lift from a friend and paying petrol/congestion charge) and bringing it back that way.......hard work I know - but we're desperate for a (decent) new hoover and it'd be cheaper than paying for a brand new decent on (of any make) LOL.

Have emailed and am waiting to hear if it can be picked up on a different date.........fingers crossed - I need something to go right in my life right now.

FAQ · 07/02/2008 16:09

haha - hadn't noticed that RT - I'd only looked as far as the dates to pick up........that time slot for the engineers is fine for me either day so I hadn't bothered to check if the date existed or not

NeverSayNever · 07/02/2008 16:10

Oooh I have been picked

Can't wait to put it through its paces .

Thank you so much

rey · 07/02/2008 16:17

Shiny... at present it's managing the stairs with my upright you have to really have muscles to use the attachment in the way it has to stretch and the sides of the walls the brush is next to useless and the way everything comes apart one slight knock and you have to check for ages unless you are lucky and chance upon what the problem is first time. I could go on but the stairs and cleaning are my main bugbears! Thanks byt he way

RTKangaMummy · 07/02/2008 16:18

LOL FAQ

Don't call it a "hoover" when you go there it is a Vaccuum cleaner or a DYSON

FAQ · 07/02/2008 16:21

oh cr*p - I know I know I know - my mum has never owned a "hoover" product in her life but has always called her vacuum a hoover......and I picked up the habit.

Sadly I didn't quite pick up her habit of regularly picking up the electric cleaning device and using it

FAQ · 07/02/2008 16:24

yay! Managed to arrange another day to pick up - now just need to call a few friends and see which one I can persuade to give me a lift down........and if they can't then sort out trains......oh and I suppose I'd better tell DH he needs to take the day off/go late to work that day so that he's here for nursery runs etc/.

ShinyDysonHereICome · 07/02/2008 16:25

FAQ-Northampton is a bit far I'm afraid else I would have happily helped!

Give Dyson a call; I just spoke to Camilla from there who indicated that somebody is available at the London office most of the time. She was very lovely and helpful so I'm sure she'll do her best to accomodate a time you can make

ShinyDysonHereICome · 07/02/2008 16:26

X Post-great!

I'm going to the Wiltshire office at 3pm on Mon 18th- may bump into some of you there and we can play guess the Mumsnetter

I didn't say what one I wanted so have got a cylinder which is great coz after I put I didn't mind I decided a cylinder would be better for me to test

So am I right in thinking we get to keep the hoover vacuum? If it's really good I won'n want to part with it

SparklyDYSONGothKat · 07/02/2008 17:23

ScoobyDYSONDoo · 07/02/2008 17:31

SparklyDYSONGothKat · 07/02/2008 17:36

can't believe we are getting excited over a hoover......If you had said to me at 18 that in 11 years, I would get really excited over a free hoover I would have laughed....

Peachy · 07/02/2008 17:38

I know Sparkly- seems so silly doesn't it? kids dont get it at all LOL

We'll be at the Wiltshire office at 1.30 on the Monday.

TLSM... maybe we can do the nesting instinct properly now?

or maybe not

misdee · 07/02/2008 17:43

i have been looking at the dyson website to see the ones we will be testing, and i am soooooooooo excited.

Camilla said we can change our minds when we get there if they have enough of the others, so i may go for a cyclinder rather than an upright.
